For what you pay it is very reasonable staff very good food is good.

Nice Hotel, friendly Staff. Reasonable price Drinks too.

If you want quiet clean room, don’t come here. If you want to party this is the place to come. Beds are clean rooms are desirable but the singers and disco is great, drinks are normal prices and food is OK.

Well as the saying goes you only get what ya pay for … rooms dirty 2nd floor stank of canibis went down to the pool area … looked like a floating tampax in the pool it was disgusting.

Disgusting level of dirt. Horrendously noisy rooms. Staff who have no idea what they're doing.

Unbelievable the bad reviews this place has got. Its absolutely perfect. Great food. Tidy room. Great prices. Great company.

The buffet was very nice plenty to choose from the bar prices were the best I have come across I have been before but only bed no meals but will definitely be coming back.

Good food, elegant dining room, centre of Southport. Barons Bar has a number of real ales. En suite rooms are a good size and clean. Pleasant staff.

Planned to stay for 4 days. But after a night of loud noises, people running around, smoke smell everywhere you walk; we have decided as a family to leave the hotel because it is not restful, not healthy, and just loud. Staff are very lovely and food perfect though. Hotel needs doing big time.

Went with national holidays in July and enjoyed every minute, yes the hotel could do with updating but which old hotel doesn't. The breakfast and evening meal was very good, could do with a little more choice of desserts. Staff are very friendly entertainment every night was very good but hotel needs to advertise this in hotel better as most people didn't Know about it. There are 3 different bars and also one in the entertainment room, we we're buying our drinks downstairs in Barron's bar and taking upstairs as they didn't have real ale upstairs. Swimming pool is lovely but there is a charge. Plenty of shops Cafe's and things to do, there is a lovely cafe bar under the pier which has live music most days definitely worth going. Plenty to do for families. We will definitely be going back next year.

Great place for a short break. Got a late booking at very cheap price for a double room. Really pleased with our room clean and quite big considering the size of the hotel. Very pleased I chose this hotel.

I keep hearing that this was a lovely hotel but on arrival was truly disappointed. Firstly there is parking advertised but that doesn't exist, once we had found somewhere to park entering the hotel was like walking into a Smokey old pub, the decor is very dated, the reception staff were very friendly and we were furnished with a key and sent to our room in quite possibly the oldest lift in England. Having found our room in what can only be described as an ancient maze we yet again found very dated carpet and decor, we dropped our bags and went for our evening out. We returned to the hotel around midnight and went straight back to the room, I managed to get some sleep but I had had several drinks, my wife however was keep up by noise from the pub next door (even though each window had 2 double glazed units), I believe she did nod off but was woken around 3:30 am by a group of men singing lady in red at the top of their lungs. We went for our breakfast around 9 and found the service less than cheerful and the food all crisp and burnt. We most certainly would not recommend a stay here especially when paying in the region of £80-£90 for bed and breakfast!

I was rather concerned after reading some of the reviews but we've just had a great 3 day stay, our room 328 is very nice indeed, absolutely spotless and really spacious, we've had fresh white fluffy towels each day, we didn't book food but we've seen lots of people eating in the restaurant each day. Obviously it's midweek so no trouble with noise from the onsight bars but we liked the price there £1.80 for a pint of lager. I especially like the dressing table with huge mirror and the table and chairs, also the large fully tiled bathroom with plenty of shelf space, all in all I'm extremely happy with our stay.

Was OK for a pitstop. Took my mum for weekend but at 74 years young we didn't get much sleep due to disco under neath and we were in second floor. Also drunken people up n down corridors all night and out side window. Was so hot as window has two lots of double glazing and only opens about an inch. Asked for a fan 3 times and never heard another thing. Dusty room but comfortable. Take earplugs.

Check your room thoroughly for bedbugs before staying. I didn’t, sadly, and I’ve brought them home with me. They were so bad my whole house is infested 3 days on! I’d asked to move rooms because of noise and the room I was put in was on the latch and the heating was on full whack so I believe they might’ve known about the problem before moving me. It’s gonna cost a fortune and a huge amount of time to get rid of them. Some of the staff was lovely but a lot of them were terribly rude, but I’m not too mithered about that for the price. CHECKING FOR BEDBUGS Closely examine the folds and seams in the corner of the mattress for signs of bed bugs. Use a credit card to get underneath the folds of the mattress, where bed bugs love to hide, and closely examine the darker hiding spots with a flashlight. Good location of hotel with friendly staff. Rooms are basic but clean. Food is not so good and the self service method doesn't work as it was always chaos. Wouldn't stay here again because of the self service and food.

Honest and genuine review of the scarisbrick hotel — Checking in was fast and simple, the staff were very friendly and clear with where the room was. The room in question was immaculately clean, there was some marks on the furniture but this is nothing unless you want perfection. The bed was decently comfy with plenty of pillows provided. The tea making facilities in the room is a nice added bonus. When it comes to sleeping, it can get noisy outside because of the clubs so if you struggle sleeping it might not be for you? However I slept like a rock since I was walking around nearly all day. One additional thing is that our room was located on the front of the building where we had the hotel lights shining up the window, we'd like to see darker curtains to block out more of the light. Lastly is the breakfast — it's a all you can eat from 7:30 — 9 and you can choose anything from continental breakfast to a fry up. The breakfast food was cooked very nicely and tasty. I however did not try the resteraunt food the hotel provides so I can't give an opinion on this. Overall this is a nice hotel and I would stay here again especially for the cheap price.

Location was not so bad, the staff are very friendly and helpful, that's about it. The decorating wasn't to bad but where there was some cracks the paint over the cracks didn't match. Other things wrong with the room: Windows very dirty, it spoilt the view of the night club 15 feet away but didn't stop the noise up to 3am. That started after the karaoke bar under our room (1st floor No 109) had finished. The window didn't close properly which wasn't helpful because the heating wasn't working. TV had been washed with a dirty rag, only allowed 2 drinks of tea or coffee a day. Bed was hard, also had a dirty pillow. Bathroom: bath and shower took a while to get hot, sink was coming away from the wall, tiles on the floor cracked, however they did offer to move us the day before we was due to leave. Won't be staying at the hotel again.

Unable to purchase a cup of coffee after 3pm although staying at the hotel. Unable to sleep because of the NOISE from the entertainment until 3am and from an all night bar until 4am this without any warning from the staff when booking in. There also was no parking available at the hotel its self. The only place we could find to park overnight was at the railway station. Definitely no chance of ever staying at the Scarisbrick ever again.

Clean room good food excellent value and nice staff. We really enjoyed our visit and the entertainment. The only little downside is some areas could do with an update.

Asked for a ground floor room or close to lift on booking. The room they gave us was up and down2 lots of stairs right at the end. To be fair when we complained they found us a better located room. Hot water is a nightmare had to run tap and shower for 10 to 15 minutes before any warm water came through. Room not clean. Wouldn't stay here again.

Room is extremely small can hardly walk past the bed to bathroom. Smells of drains. Someone had scraped a phone number into the plaster on the wall in several places. Grubby, smelly, needs decorating. It's now 1 am can't get any sleep due to sound and vibration coming from disco downstairs. I rate this no stars. Don't stay here!

Great Hotel, my husband and myself really liked this hotel. Great food, great room staff very friendly and helpful. We would definitely will come again in the near future.

After phoning to try arrange a 10am check in due to attending a funeral we were told if a room was available we would be accommodated. On arrival, we were told this would never be accommodated. A room was arranged for us but I feel a note should have been put with our booking explaining same to avoid causing distress. Rooms were basic, could be updated but fine for the price. Tv reception was very bad. Location was excellent.

I only call in for a drink in the Barons Bar. A bit grim but a good selection of beers at a good price.

Understaffed. Poor rooms with peeling cracked walls. Noisy nightclubs nearby until 4am. Suitable for deaf old people who arexeasily pleased.

Place is nice, staff are lovely polite and very helpful. Prices are reasonable. Decor a bit dated but beds are comfortable.

Family room, the room is very large, put three beds, in fact, is a double bed and two single beds, can sleep 4 people, haha. Our group included breakfast and dinner, I heard that self-help is very rich, looking forward to … Experience it later!

Lucky to be getting even 1 star. Paid nearly £100 for a so called executive room. Dated decor, dirty windows, could see the floor through the carpet, broken TV screen. People were constantly at reception complaining about smelly rooms. Went for breakfast at 9am. Waited 20 mins for a table then gave up. Loads of people also waiting and complaining. Absolute dump.

Absolutely terrible experience. Windows wouldn't close and they had a tribute night that was supposed to run till 12.30 but ran till 1.30am. Horrible sleep. Towels smelled burnt due to temperature of the radiator, God knows how long they was on there before we got to the room. Requested partial refund and just got told I have to email a chain, how hard can it be to just keep the customer happy. Positive note, they gave us an hour early check in at no extra charge, but failed to tell us about the tribute night. Would of stayed out later if we knew this would keep us up at night.

Its exactly what you'd expect for a bargain room. Its a nice enough place, out dated decor, needs a bit of maintenance. Certain rooms overlook two nightclubs that stay open till 3am which could effect your sleep if you were after an early night. On the positive side though the staff were helpful anf polite, theres a bar, its very central to attractions and nightlife and the hotel has a gym and pool that can be accessed for a small charge. Overall a fairly pleasant stay — wouldn't rush to go back but wouldn't avoid it completely if I had to stay in the area again.

It is a shame I cannot rate this hotel 0 stars. Checked in at 5.30pm after a 6 hour drive. Room was horrible, paint peeling off the walls, massive damp patched on the ceiling, the whole floor stunk, the light didn't work for the first 2 mins before it decided it's self to come on. We had booked a superior soon and were very disappointed. We had a 20 min sleep after the long drive before getting ready to go out. When we woke we discovered the heating didn't work. It was — 1 outside and bloody freezing. We called reception who send someone up with a small fan blower heater. At this point we checked out and found another hotel. Absolutely shocking to think this place has been awarded 3*. Needs to be shut down.

Nice food but lift broke was with my mother 80 years old so she struggled with stairs as did lots of old people some went home also advertised swimming pool this too was out of order so spoiled the visit. Room OK clean price if stay very reasonable.

Booked online and rooms looked quite reasonable — checked in and paid and went to room — dirty bed, broken sharp bathroom floor tiles, no grout in tiles, end of bath hanging off, damp and wet wall, curtains hanging off and dirty. Walked back to reception and took a refund (£91.50 for a sh*thole) and drove to the Ramada on the shore front — £30 more for a room but what a stunning room, do yourself a favour and book the Ramada — I am not a snob but the Scarisbrick was more like a Homeless shelter complete with homeless chap sat in reception…

Stayed at the scarisbrook hotel Southport for one night room cost £55 per night I would of rather have been locked up would of got a good night's sleep. The room was very dated paint peeling of radiators because of the rust curtains did fit the windows and our room was over a full blown disco that went one until after 3am we went told about that it was absolutely disgusting I wouldn't recommend putting my dogs in there people please avoid even the receptionist was miserable. Rooms need updating badly can't wait to go home and have a sleep.

We stay here too frequently because it's handy for the town centre. It could be so much better. The worst lift on the planet. Some rooms are ok, others pretty dreadful. The toilet in the room we just stayed in was less than 2 inches from the wall which felt rather cramped. Some rooms are a long way from wherever the hot water comes from so you need to plan ahead if you want a shower. The bars are cheap but a couple are horrible with a special selection of chavs.

Went for lunch with my Grandma and my 11 year daughter. Lovely meal and very attentive staff. Everything was served piping hot and nothing was too much trouble for the waitress who was very friendly yet professional. Would return without a doubt when I visit Southport again.

I will never book a room here again. It was meant to be a nice break away for my partner and I, the room was so basic it was unbelievable, the bed was atrocious, the radiator was broken and all we were offered was a small electric heater. Absolutely awful stay, do not recommend.

Dated grubby rooms water stains on ceiling loud music until early hours of morning car parking spaces limited extra cost of £7 a day to park in the street. Not an experience I shall be repeating.

Yeah it was a bit noisy with the nightclub nearby but honestly. Beautiful room, nice veiw and clean place. Would go back.

I have stayed in many hotels in my working life and in retirement and I have to say this is the best. The rooms and the food are the best I have ever encountered. Ok, it looks busy from the outside but venture inside and the splendour unfolds. My praise is genuine.

Definitely not the best hotel I've stayed in. The TVs are analogue (amazingly), the interior walls and floors are not very sound isolating, nor are the exterior walls, and there are several clubs outside which play loud music until 3AM. The decor is quite tired and old. Other than that, it's fine!

We booked over the phone two days before we arrived. On arrival was told they couldn't find out booking! In the end they found it! Booked a double room. They put us on the 4th floor, forgetting to tell us the lift had broken! On eventually find out room. We find it was like a store cupboard! With a sky light, NO WINDOWS! Smallest bathroom in the world. It was in need of a very good clean, they seemed to just dust over the tops and behind cupboards and edges was absolutely disgusting with inches of dust! The hotel itself is in very much need of a massive updating and smelt of damp! One minute past our checkout time we even had the cleaners knocking on our door kicking us out! Never again! On the only up side is the drinks are reasonable. Good luck to anyone staying here.

Building is one of the old buildings of Southport and needs some TLC. Did not go into main body of pub just into a coffee lounge area which was nicely deccorated but when going to hatch to order drinks, it appeared a little run down. Coffee machine broken and had to go into hotel bar area to order one. Attendant, at first, dismissive but did offer to carry tray to where my friend and I were having a drink.

Ideal location for easy access to local shopping and marina. Many people complained about noise but if you are in the centre of a town this is to be expected! Magnificent building (when built in 18__) obviously in need of attention but upkeep on such a property, one must understand, must be massive. My room, though extremely small, had all the necessities I required Bathroom very nice. The meals are self service (which can be off putting) but the choice and standard of food is by far the best I have ever had on a coach holiday. I found ALL staff I had dealings with pleasant friendly and helpful. I intend to return with the year.

Nice old fashioned pub. Good selection of real ales. Friendly welcome.

Staff on the front desk were very helpful and led us round to find our way to our rooms, and were very accommodating when we had some trouble checking in comfy place would go again.

Hotel was dated but good value for money. Only real disappointment was the night club outside until early hours. But was acceptable for price paid.

Stayed here 6th sept staff were lovely pool n jaccusi was v nice food v good only complaint was the bed was hard otherwise was v pleasant stay.

It was OK. Such a shame as it could be so much nicer but needs a lot of money spent on it. At 51 years old I think I was one of the youngest mature adults there. Parking very difficult. FYI… if you are one 6ft 1in be careful using the bathroom in room b5. Son is 6ft6in and experienced problems in the bathroom.

Needs staff training on every level food horrible not worth the money dirty rooms could not have a shower on my wedding dayou as it did not work.

Good value hotel. Bar prices good. Don't read too much into negative posts as I was impressed with hotel. Some people want four star hotels for two star prices.

If you are in Southport and want something more than a cafe to relax and eat in, then try here. The food is fantastic, the prices are fair, plus you eat in a beautifully preserved piece of history. It is accessible and the loo is upstairs but there is a lift.

Hotel OK for B&B. Hotel in general needs refurbishment. Overall, value for money. Didn't use restaurant so can't comment.

Location was good. We w in rooms on the first floor. Our rooms was OK but the heating would not turn off. Complained to reception, someone came up to see it. All they did was confirm this fault. NOTHING was done about it. The window in the room only opened about 1 inch so no hope with that. After going bed we realised we was situated opposite a night club. As you can imagine ABSOLUTELY NO SLEEP. Tried closing the window to block out some noise but the temperature in the room was unbearable. Food was OK but not much options especially as I'm a vegetarian.

Looks tatty, but as friends go there the company is good! The inside is much less impressive than the facade would have you believe. Really it needs refurbishment.

Nice hotel, shame that it seems a little dated. Having lived in Southport for all of my child and teen life, the Scarisbrick Hotel, or "Brick" as it was affectionately known was THE prestigious hotel to stay in. Indeed, when I stayed in there recently visiting family, they asked if I had come into money recently. It's not too expensive a place to stay now though but, owned by the Britannia group, it feels a little like a Travelodge. The staff are all courteous and friendly, the food that we had there (admittedly only a breakfast) was good and, as it was a buffet, was really worth the money. It's a shame that the rooms seem a little dated though. There's no air conditioning and, the TV only had basic channels and, whilst it was a flat screen, was only a portable and, not a wide-screen one. The hotel is right in the middle of Southport, on lord street, so you're right in the middle of the beauties that Southport has to offer and, despite there being several pubs attached to the hotel and, lots around the back, there was very little noise in the room. Altogether, a lovely stay and, would have been 5* from me had the rooms kept with the times a little more.

Not bad, cheap and cheerful. Not sure exactly how old the building is, she's beautiful, but the cracks and starting to show now. Leaking toilets, grease laden side streets etc. Staff nice and friendly with good service throughout our stay. The hotel itself advertises themselves as in a busy, lively area, crumbs they are not joking. We stayed on the 3rd floor and you can pretty much write off getting any sleep on a Fri, sat as the bar outside just pumps loud music out until 4am.

Had a couple of drinks in maloneys frendley staff and nice cocktails.

Very disappointing, we have been staying at the scarisbrick for many years, but never again. The first room we was allocated was like a bedsit, we asked to be moved to a bigger room but was told they were fully booked, after checking online I found there were plenty of rooms available so I returned and spoke to another girl on reception and she moved us into a bigger room, this room was very dated and in need of upgrading it didn't even have a throw over on the bed, the paint was flaking off the walls, the curtains were to small and didn't cover half the Windows, I found a pair of glasses on the floor next to the bed next to a sweet wrapper so the so called cleaners must have missed them, talking of which we never saw one cleaner anywhere in the hotel morning or night, the corridors where dirty and in need of a good hoovering and you wouldn't want to put your hands on the door plates as they were filthy, the music was blasting out until 6 am from the night club downstairs. The breakfast was disgusting that's when we could find a plate clean enough to eat off. A family came in the restaurant with a man in a wheel chair they moved to a table but was told the had to move to another table because the large fan above that table wasn't safe. We couldn't wait to get out, such a shame because we used to love staying there. The scarisbrick hotel used to be one of the best hotels in southport but now is one of the worst and we wouldn't go back there even if it was free.

Excellent value. The reception staff are friendly and efficient. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. The only problem was that the shower needed some attention (a loose screw) but this was sorted within an hour or so and we got a free drink courtesy of the manager! (thanks :-) ) The hotel has a few bars (and discos) which cater for all ages and the staff are very friendly. Special recommendation for the restaurant as the breakfast was lovely and the choice of menu for the evening meal was excellent. All the food was gorgeous! We really enjoyed the weekend break as it was relaxing and fun. Will definitely be going back as loved the atmosphere in the hotel and Southport is a gem in the North West.

My wife and I have just stayed at the Scarisbrick Hotel for a 1 night only. We booked the bed, breakfast and evening meal deal and got a free bottle of wine thrown in. I had read the awful reviews on the internet and really was not looking forward to staying but on arrival we found the reception staff very friendly and helpful, or room was on the 3rd floor and had a double bed and single bed in the room with 2 sitting chairs, a table and dressing table with wardrobe. We had an en-suite bathroom and the room was very clean and spacious. We dropped our overnight bags of in the room and went into the ground floor bar for a couple of pre-dinner drinks. Again the bar staff was very professional and friendly but more to the point, the cost of a pint and a spirit with chaser was under £ 5.00. We went for evening meal to be shown to our table which had been very kindly decorated for my wife's birthday, which I had emailed beforehand. The serving system was explained and we proceeded to help ourselves to a soup starter, a salad dish followed by a roast dinner and several other choice main course. There was a selection of deserts but I couldn't manage anymore. The quality of food and service was excellent, the food was all fresh and piping hot. The choice was exceptional. We finished our meal and then headed back to the bar for a night cap.

Excellent friendly staff. Baron's bar has a great real choice and a real cider all at £2.10 pint other bars do late night dancing and a sports bar.

Hi stayed there for 2 nights Friday and Saturday 14 th to the 16th what a run down noisy hotel breakfast I could not eat sausages was the cheapest they could find the bacon was like rubber and just everything about the place was a disgrace to top it all I requested a nice room away from all the noise and they put me above a night club excellent the reception staff were amazing but that is about the best part of my weekend thank you john rigby colchester Essex.

Absolutely horrible, needed a room for the illuminations — this was listed as 10 mile from Blackpool, maybe in a helicopter or boat — try 44 mile round trip! The excuse was "you can see the tower from here"! No parking. One double bed for a family of four, they expected my son and daughter to share a bed. Had to request extra bedding when camp bed was produced. Safety windows were none existent (we were on top floor), windows would not close properly and let the sound of the pubs clubs and fighting keep us awake till 3am then a very aggressive domestic broke out in a room adjacent to ours. 2 hours sleep at best. The thermo on the radiators also did not work so was like sleeping in a sauna. On top of this the lift and doors were constantly banging and clattering all night. This is the noisiest, most worn and bedraggled and uncomfortable hotel I have EVER stayed in.

If there were to be a zero star I'd give it. Absolutely filthy dirty, everything is old and suspiciously dirty. Rude service, horrible bed, broken bathroom. I was told by locals that once it was taken over by the chain, it has gone down to an absolute dive. It was surprising that people did not pick up bedbugs from this place, or the pledge. So. Very. Disgusting.

A comfortable sized room for 3, but a bit passé. The food was satisfactory and provision was decent but the lifts were insufficient. A comfortable remoteness from any desired activity we personally were required to do. We correspondingly were exultant with our window outlook. We relished our sojourn at the scarisbrick hotel and we have optimism that you will too. By Trinity aged 11.
