We have been coming to The White Swan for over 25 years — food is great and service normally outstanding. The past 2 visits including today were absolutely terrible. The new waitress they have in the Mucky Duck side is so RUDE and made us all feel very uncomfortable. Once you change your staff we will happily return!

I attened a wedding here over the weekend. What a lovely place to get married. Firstly I would like to say how amazing all the staff were, very polite, helpful and even though they were still serving food to other guests we always seemed to be stood in their way. They never once got annoyed and were always polite when asking to get through. Secondly I'd like to say how much of a asset Karl was behind the bar, nothing was never too much for him. He actually made one of the best long island iced tea we have ever had (we've tried a fair few 😉) he was actually finishing his shift and came back to make us one more before he left. Thanks Karl 😊 Overall I would highly recommend. A lovely venue with lovely staff.

Went for Sunday lunch and disappointed. Slow service disinterested waiters food OK but vegetables were raw — told waiter but he was not interested. Had to eat in bar which was cold and shabby asked for restaurant but told no room though it was half empty when we arrived and left. Will not be back in a hurry ….

Booked an afternoon tea for 12 people for a works event. The staff at the venue could not have been more helpful and were able to cater for a range of dietary needs. The cakes were amazing and there were a lot! Thank you.

Ate in the pub side of the white swan and it was fantastic. All staff welcoming, a lovely selection of gluten free food definitely going again.

Just had lovely Xmas meal there very friendly atmosphere and great food.

My sister and her wife had their handfasting ceremony here, the staff were excellent and couldn't do do enough for us. They were very patient with us and wanted to make the day very special can't thank you enough Suzanne.

Been today to collect the slider burger afternoon tea. Ready when I arrived. It was amazing, fantastic burgers, particularly loved the pulled pork one, really nice soft homemade brioche buns too. Not to mention the amazing doughnuts and biscoff bites. Would definitely recommend. I shall be back!

Tried the new takeaway menu last night. We had the beef pie and turkey burger. Both were amazing and so tasty even with the delay in eating due to the drive home. Thankyou so much.

The food is always amazing never had a bad one yet and the staff are very friendly and welcoming and it's all Covid friendly.

Another fantastic meal here. Fillet steak was amazing. Staff were great & they have really thinned the tables out to make space.

Very, very slow! food was cold and we had to send steaks back as they weren't cooked to our liking. Service was awful, I had to go find the waitress 4 different times for refills and desserts. Not good experience at all!

Lovely friendly atmosphere and great staff. The guys behind the bar are really obliging. We are new to Scotter and the weekend starts on a Friday night in the white Swan. Excellent meals.

Thank you for making my birthday celebrations with my family a roaring success. The staff are very professional, friendly and efficient. Food delicious and very well presented, excellent menu, something for everyone.

I stayed here for two nights on a business trip. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and all the staff were superb. The breakfast is made to order and high quality, in the evening I had a butternut and chilli soup and the ‘three little pigs’ for my main course, the food was outstanding! I will be staying here again in the future and I will also be recommending it to my colleagues when they are on business in the area.

The White Swan hosted My Husband and I’s wedding. From start to finish the experience has been nothing but brilliant. Louise the wedding coordinator is such a lovely person and extremely attentive and hard-working. Simon and myself were very aware of just how much effort she was making to ensure our day was perfect… and it was. All of the staff there and absolutely brilliant. The waiters, waitresses, cleaners, and those in the kitchen are all extremely talented at what they do. I could not recommend this place more highly. Thankyou so much to you all. Mr Brocklesby and Mrs Brocklesby-Dix And in addition to this, the food is absolutely outstanding in both the restaurant and the bar (The Mucky Duck).

We go fairly often, it’s our favourite place for food. The produce used is always top notch and that reflects in the dishes served. The chef here is excellent and we haven’t had a bad meal in a number of years. It’s family friendly and has a Great beer garden, and just on the stream with the ducks so it’s perfect to take the children for lunch.

Been to the Mucky Duck for a meal a few times now and have never been disappointed! Excellent food and service to match. Would recommend to anyone. Thanks to the great staff for always making it a lovely experience!

Came tonight for my dads birthday after having a not so great start elsewhere!
When we arrived, we thought we might not get sat down, but was quickly told that we could sit in the dining room! Such a lovely part of the place!
I mentioned we had come for my dads birthday, the lovely lady that was waiting on our table told me that she would do my dad a special birthday pudding! Didn’t think it would be much! When it came out, we were all shocked and it was such a lovely gesture!
Have to say tonight was one of the best times, we have had! Thank you for making it extra special.

Clean modern room adequate size. Excellent food, wine and ales. Staff very attentive. Do you need more.

No matter what day of the week we dine at The White Swan the quality of food & service is always first class. The staff are always welcoming, happy, obliging and very polite. We brought some friends to dine here, for their first time, on Weds 25th July and their exact words were "We love it, fantastic choice & the food is to die for so it won't be long before we visit here again". That's tantamount to an excellent & well run venue. Thank you — we had yet another wonderful evening.

I had my birthday night here at The Swan on Saturday 23rd June. The food was beautifully presented and the service at the bar was excellent (thank you Brad). There are menus on the tables for the next morning to indicate paying for hot breakfast if you would like to, other than that there is plenty continental choice if you so wish. The accommodation is of a very high standard, clean and has everything you need. I highly recommend The Swan for any occasion you wish to make special.

Went for afternoon tea with a baby shower. Very clean, nice decor, party's and bookings welcome. Recommended.

We had a great meal in the mucky duck along with excellent local beers. Hotel room was very well presented and we had a good night's sleep. The place is positioned well if you are going to blyton race track.

Stay there often always clean and tidy. Food is very good indeed, and always a great selection of real ales. Friendly place.

Excellent quality & beautifully presented food. The staff are very polite, obliging and extremely efficient. The White Swan restaurant has a lovely atmosphere with friendly waiters/waitresses. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who asked me "where's the best place to eat" and they would not be disappointed!

Stayed in room 25 with the hubby on 24/02/18 and what can I say?! Stunning modern room with an outstanding bathroom! Only gripes we had were not enough milk for cuppas in the room, squeaky doors and only one of each towel in the bathroom so had to share. Apart from those tiny gripes we had a wonderful stay, breakfast was lush and the waitress was lovely, helpful and friendly. We will definitely be using you again on our future jaunts from Essex! Oh and the mattress was a little hard but not a major issue! We slept well enough to make it home in one piece! Well done guys! The White Swan is a winner from us! Mentioning no names… We actually preferred this place to the well known more expensive hotel near Broughton!

The staff were really friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. The menu itself is very original and varied and the food was (as it should be) the star of the show. Cannot fault this place and cannot wait to go back.

Much extended village pub now includes hotel accommodation and wedding venue. The bar has not lost its local feel. We visited on New Years Day and received a warm welcome. We had a good snack lunch which was offered in addition to a set menu.

I visited the white swan for a birthday meal, it was a set menu and near the end of the day, all though I was not my preferred taste the food was nice and of a berry high standard. The staff were very nice and obliging. The only reason it's not a 5 star was the wait between courses. Otherwise a very pleasant visit.

After sorting out a party night for our car club and paying in full in October, to get a phone call the next morning and been told we still need to pay £467 in outstanding payment and a bottle of champagne put a downer on it. We never had the champagne and I had all the receipts to show we had paid, good job as they had no record of me paying. The night was great and the staff wonderful but the admin side is a disgrace, after having arranged two do's that this pub I will not be arranging anymore. I would advice you to make sure to keep all your receipts and only pay for drinks at the bar as our party did.

An order for two people … how difficult is that? No chip but a salad, arrives with chips and no salad. The salad comes after I point this out, drenched in bottled dressing. Hey, I come into your house and drench your breakfast in ketchup … you don’t dress a salad unless the client requests it. Serve it virgin with oil and vinigar on the side. The crab cakes were just potato cakes and the steak cooked to death. I’ve given the Swan the benefit of the doubt about 4 times. But enough is enough. Did I complain at the time? No, what’s the point, they think they are doing great. Train your staff, chef taste the food and ditch the iPad ordering system, it doesn’t work as it clearly doesn’t improve communication between the restaurant and the kitchen.

Popped in for a bar meal last night. It was one of the best meals out I can remember having for a long time. Gammon & pineapple cooked to perfection. My husbands haddock & chips was equally good for him too. Good service, not long to wait and two very satisfied diners, thanks.

I ate at the White Swan on the 3rd Sept 2017 & I have to say the staff were lovely & friendly, but the food was so bland & disappointing. There was no flavour in anything. The potatoes were lumpy, gravy watery, veg tasteless. I hope the Manager will read this as the Chef needs to be politely advised.

An upmarket place with good food and attentive staff. A nice comfortable outside area complements the 'mucky duck' too. The Swan has a small but adequate car park and there is ample on street parking in this very picturesque village. A walk by the nearby stream (to feed the ducks? ) is recommended.

This was a beautiful place to visit it was relaxing and the food was great. The food was so good I would not have put it in a category of pub food. The staff were helpful but could of been friendlier. But I would highly recommend it. Place for play with the kids. Not suitable for wheelchairs. 6 steps to get to the pub. Although there were prams that happily got up the steps. A real treat of a place.

We have just enjoyed another lovely meal at The White Swan this time to celebrate my Sisters 40th. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, the staff attentive and lovely surroundings. Would highly recommend, thankyou :)

Had our wedding here in March and it was the most perfect day :) Matt the manager could not do enough for us, he was brilliant and made sure our day ran smoothly! The staff were excellent, great service and the food was amazing. Everyone commented on what a lovely venue it was and the quality of the food. As part of the package Occasions by Leigh decorated the venue and it looked so beautiful, Olly the Dj was brilliant and played whatever we requested. Honestly couldn't have asked for a more magical day and cannot thank everyone enough… Will be visiting many more times over the years as it holds a special place in our hearts.

We had our wedding there on 25th June and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. Matthew and the rest of the staff could not have done a better job if they'd had tried. We've lost count of the amount of guests who have commented on how nice the venue, food and service was. Best wedding venue for miles.

We had a large booking made for a birthday meal. The food was lovely and as we had pre ordered it came out really quick. However they tried to squeeze far too many people on as few tables as possible. As a result it made it very difficult to get in and out and left us with no room to move.

We had the 3 course meal for mothers day the food was really nice and the service was good.

Went for Boxing Day Lunch with the In-laws. The staff are very polite and the food was top notch. Considering how busy it was the speed of service was very impressive. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Xmas menu very poor quality, veg not cooked portions very small, will not be going there again. It used to serve good food.
