We like Premier Inns and have stayed in many — Always clean, consistent, and functional. Preston West however is a disgrace — Apparently its a franchise not a 'Premier Inn' — Lesson learnt. We arrived late so checked in and settled down. A light fitting was loose and I carefully had to refit it as it was live. Water pressure was hopeless so we had to the fill bath with hot only which look ages as the hot water wasn't that hot. Then the cushion was in a poor state, and the cover had been ripped off. The bathroom was dirty but as we were only here for 1 night — too tired to care given the time to bathe and then have to move room we put up with the shocking state of room 14. My son slept badly. Next morning we found his 'bed' was only a mattress base with a mattress liner on top! — No mattress. On pulling back the cover — Yuk and full of stains! We complained the next morning and asked about the 'Good Night Guarantee’ and were told to contact guest relations. Staff seemed not bothered about their low standards even after we instead they come back to room 14 so we could show the numerous issues. Another family checking out was also unhappy as they had to move room after check in due to a dirty smelly room – their second was better but they agreed as fellow frequent users of Premier Inns Preston West was nowhere near the usual standard of a Premier Inn. Do avoid Preston West. I have stayed at Premier Inn Squires Gate 10 miles away (and others) which is the standard you would expect.
