Bloody wonderful! Won't be banging on about the :- Location, staff, food, quality and choices. Just go on a nice day and sit in the garden. Lovely lovely place.

Great food, better than your standard pub grub fare and good service as well as some good local brewed bitter. I'll be back! Recommended.

We had a lovely, relaxed evening with friends at the Cartford Inn, the staff were lovely and attentive, the food was great pub fare and the atmosphere buzzy. We sat in the pretty garden area for drinks beforehand, ordered and then moved inside to eat. Our party had the calamari, the crab and trout and the special of the day (a haddock and asparagus tart) to start. Followed by several of the best-selling fish pie, beef and ale suet pudding, and the lamb special. All delicious and pretty rich and indulgent! Good value and lovely setting, would definitely recommend.

Great food as always. Service excellent. Great place to eat. We'll be back soon.

We decided to try the cart ford inn after being recommended it by friends but we’re told unless you have booked a table you can’t have a drink! Good luck for local pub of the year!

Just been for a lovely walk down the river with my family and dropped into the Cartford to be told that unless we had booked a table they won’t serve us a drink. I have lived in the area for the last 40 plus years and have seen the Cartford come like a Phoenix from the ashes to the great place it is today. Unfortunately the owners should remember that when times get hard they need to remember the hands that fed them in the days when they didn’t have multiple stars and awards.

Excellent food and service, I can recommend the fish platter, the roast beef Sunday lunch went down very well also. VG service from attentive staff. You can confidently take someone suffering a disability there they will, in our experience, be well looked after. Adequate parking and a pleasant walk along the river to help dissipate any excess!

Picturesque gastropub on the river with a great menu. Some really interesting drinks including local gins and other spirits, an extensive wine list, and a really good menu with local produce, especially for the meat. Food is excellent and one of the best pubs for food in the area. Usually busy so worth booking in the evening. Rooms available too if you want to stay, and a large car park at the back.

Beautiful place, beautiful food, warm friendly staff who don't bother you during your meal. They even have pods now for you to stay over! 100% recommend.

Food, service, setting and staff are excellent. Book to avoid disappointment though, tried twice to take some friends as a last minute thing — but got turned away.

Beautiful setting, lovely seating areas, friendly staff. Service very slow on a Wednesday, early evening which was disappointing. Food tasty but a bit dry. Could do better I think. I have just been back to the Cartford Inn for Sunday lunch and it was superb. We shared the special of roast leg of suckling pig and it was delicious! The meat was tender and moist, the vegetables were well cooked and the gravy was tasty. The starter and sweet were also very good. It was very busy but the staff were chatty and efficient. I think the last time we came they must just have been having a bad day!

Excellent menu, cooked to perfection. Friendly staff. Decor… hmmm… needs rethinking, paring back, think if simpler idea and stick to it, ditch dodgy paintings. Food made up for it though!

I Stayed here overnight for a family event. The rooms are well-equipped and very comfortable, the food was also very good. The staff and owners were all very friendly and helpful which contributed to a very relaxed stay. Would definitely return.

One of the best overnight stays I've had. Service is intimate, the rooms are lovely. The entire staff is helpful and welcoming. The inn has a distinct charm. The food here is top notch as well. Couldn't recommend this place enough.

Relaxed atmosphere in a restaurant that has appealing decor featuring paintings and glasswork from a local artist. Friendly staff and delicious food. My family have visited the restaurant on a number of occasions.

Lovely setting and atmosphere. Food was average, my rump steak was very ‘chewy ‘ with far too much gristle! Both meals came out cold. The desert menu was very limited. We visited today to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary, unfortunately we will not remember it by the meal we had!

Great quality locally sourced and inspired menu. Really friendly staff who accommodated our large party of 5 adults and 6 kids for a family celebration. Lovely Inn and great location by the river.

Always good freshly cooked food at the Cartford Inn. Enjoy meeting my Mum there for lunch. Lovely interior with quality furniture and interesting artwork, it was very busy for a Wednesday lunchtime. Very knowledgeable staff helped with my special dietary requirements. I had a wonderful fish platter, Mum had smoked haddock omelette, puddings were good too. Espresso not the best and not strong enough for me but a minor gripe. Visit the shop before you leave where diners get a 10% discount. We will certainly return.

This was our second visit. Excellent food, service & location. One of our newest favourite places to dine!

We had a fantastic meal here. All sort of different seating areas and great bar with real ale's and all manner of other beverages.

What really annoys me is when you order a steak THAT you then have order veg or if you prefer chunky chips pay extra! Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the meal as a family get together but there was something missing in the experience. The average age of the staff was 16 with no guidance. And to top it all the coffee was out of automatic dosing machine. You would have struggled if you would ask for a dry cappuccino. The place was clean and tidy but if it's a foody place it's not hitting the mark.

First, the good side. Friendly, welcoming staff, comprehensive menu, all food cooked and presented well. Pleasant dining room overlooking the river. The downside? With a group of 6 adults, 2.1/2 hrs to serve the meal would be acceptable. With a 6 yr old child at the table, it wasn't. Also, I ordered the Battered cod and chips, which, though very tasty, was the smallest piece of fish I have ever been served in a restaurant along with 5 chunky chips. The small portion was not reflected in the price of £ 14.00. All in all, I would recommend the Cartford to anyone with lots of time and who lives quite close. We won't be making the 22 mile round trip again anytime soon.

Lovely place and location. Decor is great, very individual design and clearly a lot of thought had gone into it. Food is v decent pub fayre, what you'd call gastro-pub if it was 2010. We've recommended this place to many friends, and everyone has been happy.

Beautiful food, lovely staff. Easy to find and great views outside. There is a toll bridge to get there if you come from the Garstang side but not from the Gt Eccleston side.

Came across the place by chance after looking for somewhere decent away from the hustle and bustle nearby. Couldn't have been happier. Nice classy place but not up it's self! Nice staff and great food. Highly recommended. Enjoy!

The Steak and Burger's my family ordered was fantastic, it would of been a 5 star but it was let down a staff member making us feel not so welcome and the table next to us who instead to continue vaping "because it's smells of strawberry" even though they were asked by the nicer staff to stop. While other customers used expletives in front of my young family. This was at 5pm.

Great location and service. Had lunch here recently and sat outside in a very pretty courtyard enjoying views across the river. Imaginative menu, efficient friendly waiters — love this place.

Went for Dinner with friends last weekend, fantastic atmosphere, well designed interior, really interested waiting staff with personality, fantastic food and just a great fun evening. Would totally recommend this lovely Inn.

My first return visit to the Cartford since the 1980s! This Ass for a quick meal, but I will definitely return again for a more leisurely experience.

Nice food and seafood, the decor is fading a little and the food over Sunday lunch was dry and staunchy more than flavoursome one would expect from the mains. Could be the holiday time for the main staff.

Cartford is a great pub to go for food. It is a little expensive and has a slightly pretentious feel about it but the quality of the food always justifies it.

We had lunch on a Sunday booked in advance. I booked the 'Fruits De Mer' seafood platter which you need to book 2 days in advance. My Uncle was over from Australia and I knew he would love the seafood and we were not disappointed. Plenty of mussels, oysters, prawns, crab, loads of every kind. It was delicious! Everyone had a great meal and the service was fantastic. The desserts fab too. The young man that served us was excellent and patient. In fact all staff we friendly and helpful. It was a real treat for us to eat somewhere so nice. Will go again.

Dinner for one; proper pot of pillowy, plump, impeccably fresh mussels, the better of Brussels. But then, the gaudy, parochial decor, and the inconsistent service. At least the clientele was entertaining.

My husband and I stayed at the Cartford Inn on the 2nd November 2013 in the Penthouse and absolutely loved it, the room is tastefully decorated, contains every amenity you could ask for and beautiful finishing touches with great attention to detail. It is comfortable and stylish with a picturesque view of the river and surrounding countryside. We especially loved the slipper bath and double shower! We ate dinner in the restaurant and the meals were of excellent quality and served by efficient and professional waiting staff. Breakfast was also lovely, plenty of choice and cooked really well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the Cartford Inn.

Stayed for one night, was shown to the room by a polite member of staff, he confirmed if we had a reservation for the restaurant and left us to it. It became apparent that the lock on the door was broken and that it was impossible to lock the room from the inside. My partner went down to the bar area and asked if they had an allen key to "repair" the lock. A member of staff assisted and the door was "fixed" who stated that he would recompense us with a free drink. We went down later to the restaurant and was shown to our table, we were informed of the Specials for that evening and we placed our orders accordingly. Both my partner and I ordered Duck in a Grand Marnier sauce. About 20 minutes later the waiter brought us our meals. Admittedly I didn't remember that the meal was garnished with blackberries but we both started to eat our meals. We had our plates for around 2-3 minutes when a rather flustered waiter returned and explained that these were not our meals and promptly took them away? We were flabbergasted even more so when two Duck meals were presented to the table next to us!, the same meals that had been whisked away moments earlier. It was later explained by another waiter that we had been given the last two Specials in error. We were again recompensed with two glasses of wine. The whole experience would deter me from returning but from the comedy point of view this is a story that will be around for a good few years to come.
