This place would be nice for a drink by the sea but the food lets it down massively. The chicken wings on the starters had way too much dry rub on them therefore inedible. The Thai fish cakes were soggy. The garlic crevettes lacked flavour. The monkfish skewers special came out missing the sticky potato bites that were supposed to accompany it — got them when pretty much finished the monkfish by that point. The katsu chicken burger also lacked flavour, expected it to come with some sort of katsu sauce but it didn’t. It came with a yoghurt & cucumber sauce but it there was the tiniest drop on the burger so asked for some more but it came out like water. The chicken was also very dry. All very overpriced food. Won’t be returning.

Horrible food at vastly over inflated prices and a very long wait, sadly. Never again. Used to be excellent but not anymore. Attempted to charge full price despite polite but honest feedback. They offered to replace but we declined after such a long wait.

Staff very friendly. Lovely roast chicken dinner and my partner had the pork. Can highly recommend. Our son had the American cheeseburger and what a size that was 🙂 Will definately be going back.

Peaceful & tranquil, Accommodation was exactly how it looked in the photos truly a little gem. Staff were fabulous & couldn’t do enough to make my stay comfortable. Even the guests were lovely. Food was exceptional. Thank you & see you next month! X.

We have just had Sunday Roast Lamb dinners and our son had the Buttermilk Chicken Burger. Food, ambience and service were very good. Have always enjoyed our visits here and would always recommend. Thank you Boathouse.

Great service, friendly polite staff and good food.

Not been here for a while after 2 disappointing visits. Decided to give it another try. Unfortunately very poor, waiting to be seated, group in front of us left got bored with waiting. We were greeted, told to choose a seat, we did it wasn’t sanitised, simple solution sanitise it. Ordered drinks, came wrong, which brought a sigh from the server. Ordered food, eventually came, one item short, one item wrong, out of 3 items. One way in to use WC unless going to pay as card machine doesn’t work outside. Fortunately there are many great places to eat and drink on the island.

Great staff, great service! Yet again another place accepting dogs, which is fantastic! Only went in the day but would think it was exceptional in the evening too!

Pre booked our table to be told when seated that there wasn’t much food left to choose from! Went to the Hare and Hounds who very kindly made room for us upon hearing our experience at The Boathouse and had an amazing Sunday roast in beautiful surroundings.

We visit everytime we holiday in the isle of wight
And I had no hesitation in visiting this establishment during covid19 as my previous visit have always been excellent, but alas to say im hugely disappointed this time is a understatement
On arrival we were seated at a table in the bar area which was sticky to the touch, I put this down to extra cleaning products being used we arrived just after 7pm
We waited some 15-20 mins to be served are drinks of which came in a lipstick covered glass, this is unsatisfactory normally but under covid-19 it was majorly disappointing
We ordered 2 starters to be told 10 mins after ordering that they only had one left and that its not a problem as the other starts are great!?

Good hot food. Not fast food as they say but very satisfying. Would suggest a specials menu on the wall beside entrance would be helpful rather than having to trail through the garden to see blackboard or waiter should be able to inform of options. Dog friendly.

Lovely food, small menu due to current conditions but, as a concequence, food is very well cooked. Good beer selection. Lovely friendly staff. Would definately go back.

We went for a drink only staff friendly nice atmosphere going back Tuesday for a family meal.

Nice pub, good location. Expect the usually high priced beer and wine that you’ll find in pubs across the island. A portion of chips will set you back £4.25 which I suppose is fair aside from the fact that the bowl is just about big enough to fit your fist in. Great serivice good beer and a nice place to stop on a walk.

Had our first holiday on the Isle of Wight and that was because we wanted to get away for nye so we searched for best places to eat. The boathouse came up on trip advisor and looked amazing. But my husband came across the peaky blinders party for nye. It was a must!
It didn’t disappoint, we felt so welcomed. And child friendly too! Great atmosphere, food was amazing! I had the steak and it’s the best I’ve had. And the puds were to die for! We would of loved to of stayed longer but our youngest wore herself out early evening. So impressed with our experience of the Isle of Wight we’ve decided to come back for Easter and summer, so will definitely be back here for some great dining.

Just celebrated my wife’s birthday with a party of eight friends here tonight food was great and the staff very helpful, thanks.

The food was nice but the service was very slow. When we arrived the pub was empty but till took one hour to be served. Such a shame!

Staff accommodating and on the whole friendly. Great starters but the mains were cold on all bar one of the 5 dishes ordered and 3 of them did not have the food as per menu on them and the replacements were not nice at all.
Staff did try and rectify but unfortunately occasion was somewhat spoiled. Will return at some point and hope for a better experience food wise.

We had a lovely overnight stay here. Very nice outlook. Katherine and Paula were great, very hospitable. Katherine was a delight to deal with and chat to. We had dinner here also and the menu had a great selection. Would love to return for a longer visit.

Pre ordered meal for 16 for 6 o’clock asked to arrive at 5.45 which we did, after arranging table & chairs so we could sit comfortably we waited about an hour before being served, granted there was 2 starters but nonetheless we had to wait an hour, most meals came out and was ok unfortunately 2 had to wait a further 15 mins as these had been forgotten. Basically the food was ok but I certainly wouldn’t return or recommend.

Tables clean, Loo’s clean.
Food good.
One Ribeye, a little under cooked.
Eight on the table, everything came at the same time and was hot.
Paula looked after us and is a credit to the pub.
Definitely worth a go.

Somebody needs to teach her how to improve inter-personal skills or sooner or later somebody is likely to be very rude back to her.

We haven't stayed over. We have found the bar staff friendly and helpful. The menu is interesting and what we have tried is always good and well presented, and good value. Dogs are welcomed with a drink bowl and biscuit.

I am 21, born in 1996. My mother went to buy me an alcoholic drink as she was buying herself one. They refused to buy me a drink because I left my ID at home. I'm a 21 year old woman, I don't look younger than 18. My mum's friend went in with mymmum's money and bought me a drink, and she came out, put it out in front of me. One of the staff came out and said "I have to confiscate that, because you don't have ID". My mum went in to get a refund and she said the man was being rude. You have to be joking, my mother bought me the drink, I am 21 years old, I'm not a child, it's not illegal. Absolute joke. Never coming here again.

Excellent food. Hadn't booked and they fitted us in. Very polite and we're good to the children. My only criticism is the kids menu was a bit fancy for basic taste buds. E. G Herby sausage instead of plain sausages. Me and the wife loved it though.

Lovely food and the view is beautiful. However, had to work hard for a smile from staff, wasn't particularly busy, must be the heat. Need a few more wasp traps as they were annoying.

Good selection of beers on tap and draught. Menu varied, well cooked and prompt. Staff pleasant and efficient. Good family pub with spaces outside and in.

The food was fine for the price. The only thing that spoiled it for me was that my starter and main course were bought out together. I was told that some people preferred that, and that I should have stated that I wanted my starter first. They did offer to take it away to keep it warm. I declined this offer as it was a warm evening and I did not want my food reheating. I was seated outside with a superb view over the Solent.

A great few days at The Boathouse after a few years of not being able to get over but the food was amazing as ever and despite Alan taking up a different role and Debbie moving on we were still made to feel just as welcome by the very friendly and attentive staff. Well done and we won’t leave it so long for the next visit.

Great location right on the water with cruise ship passing times displayed on the wall. Large outside patio. Dog friendly. Good pub food: An extensive menu with a focus on seafood. Interesting vegetarian options.

Although the venue is pleasant looking out on to the Solent, I found it a little on the expensive side and the portions small. The meal looked lost on the plate, so for me although it tasted delicious the presentation was not good at all in view of the cost. I had the Liver dish which seemed over done with the amount of liver and not enough of the rest of the dish accompanying it. I would revisit but probably just to have a drink and soak up the sun and the view.

Really good food and really good value especially Monday to Thursday evenings when 3 courses; 2 for 1. Friendly atmosphere and really pleasant staff. Gluten free available. Can't go wrong.

Lovely setting comfortable and relaxed. Beautiful views of Ryde sea front. Nothing was too much trouble the lady waiting on our table was chatty, fun and efficient. We had a lunch after walking along the sea front in cold blowy conditions so my hot chocolate was gratefully received. I ordered a 6oz beef burger and it did not disappoint… beautifully presented with delicious chunky chips and relish with a perfect dressed salad. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Too cold in winter! Heating either not working or at the very least insufficient… Needs sorting! Food was fine tho'.

Stayed here last weekend for a mini break, and have stayed here many times before that. Yesterday morning ate the most dellish full English watching the ships sail past. The room was gorgeous as usual, clean, bright and airy with stunning views and the sound of the sea lapping on the shore. Even though you are sleeping above a public house it is incredibly quiet and the perfect place if you need to escape the hustle and bustle and simply relax. We always return here and that says it all really! ⚓️

Beautiful pub right by the beach at Seaview. Lovely outdoor seating area and indoors is lovely as well. Food was very good.

Friendly and informal. Nice surrounding and views if the sea from the front windows and gardens. Food fine. Reasonably priced.

Absolutely delicious lunch, found by serendipity. Book ahead and there's a weekday 2-for-1 offer.

Booked a table for 7pm, arrived early, greeted well and shown to table, waitress took our order and advised the bread, oil, olives was enough for one an did not need to order the larger one. She was right, but we had to use our serviette for the bread as no plates offered, had to ask for another drink and then main course arrived before we had finished our starter, my comment about this was ignored. Main course of steak and king prawns was steak and scampi, had to request tartare sauce. My husband asked for a drink and waiter said I am serving table pop along to the bar, we waited and asked waitress who misunderstood and brought the bill! Finally got another drink but table behind us were offered dessert and coffee, we were not. Got fed up of waiting so went to bar to pay the bill. Will definitely not visit again.

Amazing food in a charming setting. We had some incredible fish, but the menu extends to many pub favourites. Service excellent. Highly recommended.

Superb place to eat. Situated along the sea wall with beautiful views of the sea and changing skyline. Inside it is both modern and has the the ambience of a country pub, with a very welcoming feel. The Wonderful staff were very accommodating and most helpful with our food allergies, we would definitely recommend a visit. Was one of the highlights of our stay.

Just stopped by for a couple of drinks on the patio. Hosts/staff were very friendly. Place was spotlessly clean. Will stay for food next time as what we saw looked delicious.

We didn't expect great things but we're really pleased with the meal we had. Slow braised pork belly was perfect & slipped down nicely with a few pints of Doombar. Kids had the fish & chips which were nice too. Eton Mess dessert was great & had no ice cream — the way it is supposed to be! Service was prompt & friendly. Good drinks selection, although limited for choice for children. Good quality food; reflected in price (£12 fish and chips). Doesn't seem entirely suited to those with children. Five star in most recent food hygiene rating.

Really nice accommodation and staff were very friendly. Good food and generous portions.

Although it was a busy Sunday when we stopped in for lunch the service was quick. There is a good selection of drinks at the bar including a decent range of gins. It's worth planning a walk to go past the pub to stop for a drink if nothing else. The burgers we had were excellent and the relish was really good.

Great location. Our room had a brilliant view of the coast. Pub prices are good, food was excellent and cheaper than going down the road. Room was clean and nicely decorated.

The Boat House became our go to stop while doing a charity walk around the Isle Of Wight. The food was delicious, in particular the pork belly and grilled lobster. The staff were lovely, attentive and really looked after us! We highly recommend a visit!

Good set ice complementary to well cooked food. Tasted as good as it looks. Excellent choice of desserts. Both Tea and Coffee rounded off a quite delectable meal.

Food much improved. Still full of the usual red-faced yacht sorts though. Selection of beers seems limited.

Having walked from Ryde, we decided to eat here, it didn't disappoint. Food was served quickly and the staff made us feel welcome. Great reward for such a walk.

A great place to pop in for an afternoon pint after a stroll on the beach with the dog (dog friendly in the bar). The 2 occassions we have eaten in the restaurant have not disappointed although I would recommend booking so as not to dissapoint. The food is locally sourced and with a great variety, enough to please everyone. Would highly recommend.
