Can honestly say the best place to stay for the night and amazing tasty break friendly customer service 😍😍

The Waterside Runners held our Christmas Party at the Pilgrim on 3rd Dec. The staff were amazing with the planning etc. Accommodated all food intolerances/allergies/preferences really well so everyone was catered for. The Christmas menu was amazing and the plant based menu outstanding. When the food came out it was hot and absolutely delicious. Perfect portion sizes too. On top of that the room was decorated beautifully. Once the meal was finished the room was then moved around to accommodate dancing with fab music and newly acquired disco lights. Huge thank you to Matt, Jordan and the team for looking after us so well. We all loved it! 🥰🎄🎉

We went to the Pilgrim Inn for a birthday meal. The food was amazing, very tasty, large portions, value for money. The staff were all smiling, chatty and looked after us well. The pub had a lovely atmosphere. I really enjoyed it, so much so we booked a Christmas meal on the way out. Highly recommend a visit here. Thank you.

Family birthday celebration for our daughter. We had an amazing meal, with great service. The food was excellent, plenty of it and really tasty! Our waitress, was patient and helpful. The pub was really busy but we didn’t feel rushed at all. No hesitation recommending The Pilgrim in Marchwood.

I’m a frequent visitor to The Pilgrim Inn but often you can take how good a place is for granted. I took a friend there today for lunch who commented what a great pub it is and also how good their roasts were. I’d thoroughly recommend to others looking for great service, drinks and food in a stunning British pub.

Very comfortable rooms, immaculately clean. Amazing breakfast & evening meals. Highly recommend for a pre-cruise or Beaulieu stay.

Lovely clean, comfortable rooms & a great breakfast choice. We also ate in the pub/restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The team at the Pilgrim really couldn't have been more attentive, we were a group of 10, so no mean feat. We've been before & will absolutely be back.

We went to The Pilgrims Inn for our Golden Wedding Anniversary. We had a lovely meal. The Landlord made a special effort to come over and chat to us and made us feel very welcome.
To our surprise he came out and brought us a lovely dessert with Happy Anniversary on it.

We have just returned from a lovely three day visit to The Pilgrim Inn. Beautiful hotel which has only recently been re-thatched, making it look very attractive. Our ‘standard’ room was on the first floor (number 15) & was beautifully decorated, had air conditioning, tea & coffee making facilities etc. Top tip: mind your head on the sloping walls! 😊 Matt and the whole team were very friendly and welcoming which made it a very pleasant stay. There was a good choice at breakfast & you could have as much or as little as you wanted, included in the price of your room. The Sunday roast was great. Large portions, beautifully cooked and very tasty. Nothing was too much trouble. All in all, a very pleasant stay & I have no hesitating in recommending. Thank you to the whole team but special mentions to Matt, Brandon & Jordan who were extremely friendly and welcoming.

Nice wine! Nice garden, not too far to walk to!

Went here last Christmas Day and it was so good we came back last night. Unfortunately not the same experience. Had the festive menu. Starter was soup, hardly any and no bread. Asked for bread and got charge £3 (they did take it off the bill when I complained) as was cheap bread and butter I couldn’t spread. Turkey for main which wasn’t proper turkey and so dry it has given me tooth ache. Dessert was a funny cheesecake which was horrible. My friend had Xmas pud which was very dry and they’d run out of cream and custard. Someone else had the burger which was overdone and she couldn’t eat it. Service was bad, not friendly and kept mucking the order up.
We were told masks prevent smiling but you can still be friendly without smiling. Food blamed on COVID. Fullers cutting costs by looks of it.
Shame as we loved it last year. Won’t be coming back. £30 was a lot for bad food. We got a dessert and burger taken off but that was it.

We have come to the Pilgrim today after they had to lock down for 2 weeks. They were welcoming, hospitable, and COVID secure. An amazing team working hard to provide a good level service.

Felt really welcomed and safe staying at this lovely hotel.
Great set up for social distancing… One way system around the pub/restaurant, bookings taken for dinner and breakfast, great spacing if tables and hand sanitisers all over.
Breakfast is cooked to order, delicious and plentyful.
Very comfortable, spacious room in a separate building to the bar.
No cleaning during our 3 night stay but ckean towels, teabags, water etc provided on request.
Would definitely recommend this hotel.

These guys have got it spot on when it comes to being covid safe. Book table online for limiting numbers, register details for track and trace, table serice and one way system, nice outdoor space. Safest place i've been. Pre lockdown this was a lovely place with lovely food and it certainly hasnt changed in that reguard either.

Just spent the night here about to check out — from the minute you walk into this beautiful hotel your treated like a friend they are all warm very welcoming and very helpful. The rooms and everything here is just as advertised — great nights sleep — amazing food served for both evening and breakfast. Well worth a visit can’t wait to return thank you all for making our stay pleasant… room number 7

The staff are fantastic… and despite a little hiccup with our food order which they more than made up for it, a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. I was a little apprehensive about the menu as I like my food simple but the wild boar and apple burger was amazing and probably the best thing I’ve ever eaten out. My son licked his pudding bowl and even mum was happy. I’m a little biased as it’s my local and I’ve been going there since I was a baby but this is a fabulous pub, lovely atmosphere and the staff always make you feel welcome no matter what the occasion. A+

Second time staying at the pilgrim Inn. Cannot fault a thing, absolutely wonderful and the food was amazing.

Beautiful room in a gorgeous building. We stayed the night before our cruise last year. Enjoyed a few drinks outside in the garden, enjoyable evening meal and breakfast. We were looking to book 2 rooms for next June but unfortunately it’s far too expensive.

The food is good quality and value for money. Hotel accommodation is good quality with free water and couple of drinks on arrival. Clean and well presented. Flannels and toiletries in the bathroom. Blackout curtains work well and quite quiet considering the location. Its well placed for Southampton or the new forest. Friendly staff. Good car parking. Only downside was the rat just outside our bedroom window looking at me in broad daylight.

Stayed this week absolutely fabulous place from check in to check out the rooms are of very high standard the attention to detail is 100% nothing is to much trouble at all breakfast is so nice lovely little continental table and everything else cooked to order would highly recommend this inn

Fillet steak and langoustines: 6oz fillet steak was barely bigger than a 10p piece and there was NO meat at all in the langoustines. £28.
8oz rib eye steaks (med rare) were flat and dry and came with no vegetables. £21.
Considering we waited 45 mins for our meals, on a weekday evening, we found this totally unacceptable. Manager eventually offered to replace the fillet steak meal, but rather than apologising and trying to make things right, she stroppily announced that any replacement meal would take another 40 mins. Shockingly poor customer service from both the waiter and manager, and the chef should be ashamed of himself.
Sort out your prices! You are a local pub serving pub grub, not a gastro restaurant.
And sort out the ant infestation!

Amazing time with friends, the staff was great and very attentive to our needs. When all done they got us a taxi to ensure a safe ride home. By the way amazing beer.

One of the nicest Inns we have been to in some time. The room was large and very comfortable. Plenty of natural light streaming in the large window. Very large bath, well appointed. The food was fantastic. We had breakfast each morning of our stay and dinner in the evening. So good. Fresh and interesting choices. Did I mention the charming character and the thatched roof all set in the country. Perfect.

Gorgeous room, lovely roast dinner in the evening didn't get to sample dessert as too full after meal but relaxed in the bar with a cheeky Gin and Tonic, fantastic breakfast plenty of choice and extremely friendly staff will definitely be back.

Absolutely wonderful for a country pub dining experience. The food is the most gorgeous I have tasted in a long while. I especially recommend the roast beef which is melt-in-the-mouth tender! Also to die for is the bar board on the sharers menu. Best pork pie and Black pudding scotch egg I have ever tasted! Staff are friendly and courteous, the environment is rustic and comfortable. Will definitely be going back again!

Definitely a cut above the rest! Such up scale rooms, superbly equipped and designed, make for a truly amazing experience Couple this with such a traditional and pleasing setting, with all the mod cons provided. Beautiful bar and restaurant and extremely helpful staff make this a WOW factor venue. Full marks!

We stopped here on the way back from Calshott castle as Google maps told us it was on our route back. My son and I had the sharing patter of various fishes and I think it was my favourite meal we had of our holiday. It was a quiet night, and I think we were the only non-locals there but got a clean table and some decent food for the money we paid.

Absolutely love this place! The rooms are comfortable and well appointed. Complimentary wine and beer in the room, water and flasks of milk in the reception fridge. Wonderful food in the restaurant. The staff are friendly, helpful and fabulous. We'll see you again.

Beautiful location on the edge of the new forest with classic thatched roof and cottage style: low roof and wooden beams. Good, friendly service. Nice menu, a little on the expensive side but very tasty. Highly recommend the desserts — these are great value for money. Ale on tap but more limited choice of lager and cider. Parking on site available.

Lovely thatched hotel block and a nice pub too. Food was good and a few pints of HSB or a G&T from the well stocked gin bar very welcome.

We had a very nice lunch in pleasant surroundings. The service was good and prices reasonable.

Stayed for one night and had a very pleasant stay. Rooms were clash with good tea facilities. My room had a lovely walk in shower and very comfortable bed. Easy access to the room. There was a little noise when other people used the water, but nothing bothersome at all. The pub itself had good beers on tap and a nice atmosphere. All in all, very happy there.

We would like to thank all the staff for making our Anniversary so special. The food was delicious, complements to the chef. We will see you again very soon.

Never would I come here again… gave it a second chance but not again after a previous rude and bad experience, but will always give places a second chance sadly no improvement, just worse … awful service, well if you could call it service, no warm welcome, couldn't be bothered, asked for a table on a quiet evening, were shown to a table and that was it… they'd rather wipe empty tables and chat to each other rather than offer drinks or discuss menu, special, soup and pie of the day, no wine menu offered, ended up leaving with out any further interaction from the staff… a very disappointing experience for what use to be a lovely country pub! This place needs clear leadership and management!

This is a hidden gem. Excellent pub, great food and very friendly bar staff. If you also need a place to stay in the area the adjacent rooms are excellent, well appointed and clean and tidy. Also plenty of parking on site.

We stayed here for two nights to celebrate my father in laws 99th birthday. The rooms are lovely, plenty of space, comfortable bed and clean. The bathroom is spacious but the shower was a nightmare. Mainly cold water with the odd gush of really hot water, horrible. We had to phone for a bath towel as only one left in our room. This was rectified quickly. Our party was very well looked after during our meal and the staff were polite and helpful. This hotel is well placed for the New Forest with plenty of walks to be enjoyed. All in all a lovely place to stay but they really should sort out the plumbing!

Lovely place for lunches on the outskirts of the New Forest. Can be busy under Christmas and service might be a bit slower then. But overall lovely atmosphere and has a lovely garden, great in the summer.

Well positioned near the New Forest. Large room, beautifully decorated. Would have liked a bath in the bathroom, but the shower was large and had good pressure. Staff were welcoming and extremely helpful. Breakfast was amazing with locally sourced produce and s good selection.

We stayed for three nights in October with our West Highland Terrier. All of us were made to feel incredibly welcome and the staff accommodated any requests we had. Tom in particular is a credit to the pub and was friendly and helpful. The pub is very dog friendly — our dog had a lot of fun meeting the staff and locals ☺️ Dog treats, water, and towels are all readily available. We'd highly recommend it for anyone looking for a dog friendly hotel in the New Forest area.

This was our first visit. The Pilgrim Inn is a wonderful old worldly pub with ample car parking. Inside is very cosy with oak beams. They have a good selection of drinks and a very good menu.

Really nice locally sourced ingredients, friendly helpful staff, and a laid back atmosphere, even on a mid week lunchtime. I will definitely be coming back next time I'm in this part of the country.

What a way to start our holiday, met by friendly and polite staff, shown to our fantastic room no 12. Wife liked the roll top bath. Had a beautiful evening meal and a great nights sleep followed by a breakfast to set us up for the day. Now off to catch our boat will definitely recommend and be back thanks to all the staff superb.

Fantastic quaint English Inn and Pub. The people are wonderful and very helpful. The room was perfect and very clean. A very nice place to stay if your cruising out of Southampton England.

Table booked by my mother for a party of four for Saturday lunch. Phone lines were down after bad weather, but the staff responded straight away to email, and on arrival we were welcomed and shown straight to a table. The bar had a good selection of ale, lager and cider on tap at reasonable prices, plus others in bottles. The lunchtime menu, while not being overwhelmingly extensive, had a variety of locally inspired dishes that all sounded very tasty and looked great being delivered to neighbouring tables. We ordered, and didn't have to wait long for our food, which all tasted good. I had beer battered fish & chips, which was well cooked, with light crispy batter, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Desserts afterwards were of equally high standard, I settled on the apple & rhubarb crumble, receiving a generous portion accompanied by I ice-cream. All in, a very enjoyable lunch, at a very reasonable price, in lovely surroundings.

Stayed one night for business. Beautiful room, staff friendly and accommodating. Food for evening meal and breakfast was amazing quality, tasty and fresh. Service was fast but didn't make you feel rushed. Perfect wait between courses. Beautiful thatched roof buildings lots of character and extremely clean. Lovely touches of fresh bottled water to take to your room and also fresh milk instead of the pasteurised cartons. Wish I was staying longer and wasn't a business trip. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area of for an over night stay before heading off on a cruise. Will definitely be back again.

Absolutely loved this place. The accommodation, food, drink and staff were brilliant. Such a lovely pub with a great atmosphere. Unfortunately we had to leave a day early due to our daughter being poorly. When we checked out the staff were so understanding and only charged for the one night. 24 hour access to fresh milk and water is a genius touch, especially with a poorly baby asking for refreshment.
Would highly recommend The Pilgrim to anyone. We will definitely look to return to complete our adventures.

My husband and I have just spent the last 6 days staying at the Pilgrim Inn, the service which we had was brilliant. All members of staff were polite and friendly. As we had opted for bed and breakfast the rooms were cleaned daily, beds made and tea and coffee facilities were topped up daily. Breakfast was buffet style with the added opportunity of having a cooked breakfast or something similar. The bar staff got used to our tipple and would frequently suggest alternatives. Overall view — would recommend to others and if we were to return to The New Forest would consider returning to the inn.

Friendly staff and a modest selection of who kept real ale. Although I didn't have any food the meals served around me looked generous.

We went in August for a two night stay — hotel room lovely except for a couple of minor niggles (only one bedside light, a wall switch that kept falling off, and tea/coffee/biscuits facilities not replenished on second day). We opted to eat in the restaurant on our first night and it was nothing short of appalling! The service was rubbish, food inedible and wine stupidly expensive for a pub. Breakfast the next day was shocking! Wouldn't bother again which is a shame as it was a beautiful pub/hotel in a stunning location. Would love to have half an hour with the management as it really wouldn't take much to put right.

Traveled from Newcastle Upon Tyne Very nice hotel, clean room with tasteful decor. Comfy beds, best tea and coffee provision I've come across for a long time and above all very friendly and accommodating staff. Oh and the food is great too. Well done The Pilgrim Inn.

Quite simply GORGEOUS — the service, the room, the food all I can say is gorgeous especially the Sunday Night deal.

My local, 5 stars all the way. Great location, great company and great beers (Fullers).

Went there for a meal when re-opened but the beef burger was raw in the middle. Did not complain just told the waitress about it. Gave them the benefit of the doubt and went back 5 weeks ago together with my family telling them how good it was going to be. What a disappointment. The starter should have been warm but was stone cold. Our son ordered boneless pheasant only for it to arrive with a bone, but he carried on regardless and found a pellet in it. We asked for his meal to be changed and he ordered the same as our daughter which was venison. It took 3/4 of an hour to arrive, we had all finished long ago and it was twice the size of our daughters meal. We asked to speak to the manageress, who apologised and said she would get the kitchen sorted out and would write to us with complimentary tickets for us all to go back for a free meal. We have heard of nothing since. Why make promises you do not intend to keep. Even the four people on the next table called her over and complained about their starter and meals. We will ensure that all people who ask for a recommendation of where to eat will be informed NOT to go to the Pilgrim.

Had been to Exbury Gardens and had a lovely time. Was driving back and was looking for a place for lunch. It was a sunny day and a pub with a garden was called for. Saw a sign of the Hythe Road indicating a pub with food so decided to explore. It was an excellent find. A lovely garden with both sun and shade and away from the busy road. There was lots of choice and it was mostly specials written up on a blackboard which I is my favourite style. I don't remember exactly what I had since it was several weeks ago but I remember it arrived promptly and that I enjoyed as did my partner. We both felt we had been really lucky to find just what we were looking for on a Sunday afternoon.
