Excellent lunch at the White Lion with a mate after clay shooting at Owls Lodge today. This was the closest pub that was open on a Thursday lunchtime, so it was kind of pot luck, but what a lovely traditional pub. A very friendly welcome, a good lunch menu (we both had one of the superb home made pies) and a decent Adnams Ghost Ship low alcohol bitter (which actually tastes like beer) as I was driving. There’s a good choice of Ringwood Ales for those that aren’t. Every possible Covid precaution looked to be in place, thankfully there is sufficient space in the bars and outside areas for table spacing to work ok, without losing the feel of a proper pub. It’s about 40 miles from where I live, but I’m looking forward to the next opportunity to go back.

How it deserves a 1* is beyond me, on way back from visiting family in Bournemouth we decided some decent grub was on the agenda to cater for the long drive home, after a little research on the tinterweb we found this gem of a typical looking village pub, a little trek from off our path home to Birmingham. The landlady welcomed us in with a smile and she really did accommodate us with a lovely meal and drink. I had the game pie with mash and mushy peas, my partner had chicken, ham and leek pie, all home made may I add and Ryan had the Yorkshire pud filled with sausage and mash. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and drinks but such a shame The White Lion isn't closer to home for us as we would frequently visit. We highly recommend this establishment as there is ample parking and a lovely outdoor garden area with plenty of seating. Ramblers paradise.

Proper little country pub with good parking and a nice range of well kept ales. We were here to cheer on our daughter as it marks the halfway stage on the 2018 Testway Ultra 40 mile run.
The staff were very welcoming and polite. The food arrived promptly and was very good home made selection. My wife had some excellent faggots and I had the game pie. They had a range of 9 pies, as well as a steak & fish, all reasonably priced. Quite a few locals in there as well as a handful of people waiting for runners. Dog friendly with a large outdoor area that I can imagine being lovely when the better weather gets here.
