If I were being picky: a basic room, with slightly dated decor. Soundproofing could be improved. Bathroom was good and looked recently decorated. However, the room was very good value and very clean — I was very satisfied.

Not clean at all, no friendly dest staff. Rooms smell like mould. Paint falling off. Very dirty carpets everywhere. Very old building with very low maintenance. Will never go back again. I don't know how this place is in business due to bad health and safety. I don't understand from where those more than 1 stars coming from. Only thing which is good is the water pressure from a dirty shower head…

Just had four nights in this hotel highly recommended staff lovely. Food great very helpful would definitely stay again. Best of regards to the staff. 4. — 5

Good service, clean, but if you go take an adapter for the plug, because they are different from ours and in the hotel does not make it easy, if you want to charge the phone you have to buy one in the store opposite the hotel and charge you five pounds for one.

Upon Arriving, was told our double room wasnt available that we booked a day or 2 previous. They offered us a family room instead. We got to the room, it was small (beds where squashed into the room, 2 singles and half a double bed) The Room was Freezing! So Cold myself and partner felt Ill Within Hours. I raised the issue with the hotels receptionist, He said he would have a look at it. Nobody cane near us for the whole day. But that night I rang again to see if the problem was resolved, I was told someone will come up and look at it, nobody ever did. Safe to say myself and partner had really bad flu and also got fever from it. The experiance was horrible, but the place would do if you had no other option! Just wrap up well.

You pay for what you get here, to be honest the only thing good I have to say about the hotel is that the water pressure is really good so having a shower is amazing. Other then that the hotel is outdated and tired looking, I would rate the cleanliness 2 out of 10 and the food is ok but you get what you pay for here. The bedding is not up to scratch they could invest in better pillows as the ones supplied are not very good quality and attention to detail is lacking, senior management really need to take a good look at this place.

Really bad staff with the worst attitudes. I doubt if the hotel would be a fail with the health and safety procedures. The door mechanism of my room was very strong and quick closing door which injured my finger while getting into the room. When I first went to the receptionist she was kind of she doesn't care attitude and later she asked the bar staff to talk to me and he was telling me that all the doors in the hotel are as such very strong and quick when closing which then I had to ask if it would be a health and safety issue. I had to make arguments with this bar staff, it is later when I asked him about the health and safety concerns he agreed to give me a complaints form. They were least bothered of my concern and my hurt finger. I then had to ask them for a complaints reporting form which they didn't really want to give and then they asked me to go to the A&E department see a doctor and bring the document that the hospital provides to forward my complaint. Too much money for the very little what you get. There are many better ones out there.

Is for English ratio okay breakfast is English and okay.

The hotel is inexpensive. You can get rooms as low as £30 a night. There is a trade off though. It is an older Hotel with many floors being at different elevations so you may have to go up and down steps to get to some of the rooms where other rooms are accessible via the lift and do not require stairs. The building feels old but you can tell they try to keep certain areas in good repair and clean. This morning I saw a groundskeeper outside sweeping up all the leaves in the car park and around the building. As far as in the room, the window can open three or four inches as is standard in many windows in new buildings. There is a bed which is fairly firm almost to the point of being uncomfortable but is usable. The sheets and bedding were all clean as is everything else in the room that I stayed in. The bathroom was very clean and the bathtub shower had very good water pressure and could get very hot if needed. There are multiple power outlets which is refreshing as so many new hotels have one or two usable outlets. One additional feature to the hotel is the fact that there is a decent sized car park behind the building so there is no additional cost to park while staying at the hotel. There is a bar and restaurant in the hotel as well as exercise facilities and a poor all at an additional charge but they look in decent shape and I have seen multiple people using them. It may not be the Ritz but, all in all it is a good value for such a low cost.

Overall and experience. I stayed there for one night upfront my flight and had to wait 10 minutes until someone showed up on the reception. On the bar the they didn't know either how to find the receptionist. The room was old and not too clean at all. The window was blocked with a second safety window which makes this room to a fire trap. I could write a lot more about this place but it is not worth it. I will never stay there again.

It's good for three price we paid. Very good shower. Nice swimming pool and gym. Staff friendly. Daily clean up.

I've visited the hotel a few times now over the past few years for a bi-annual conference I attend. I haven't stayed in the rooms during my visits so can't say how they are. But the conference/function room is fantastic. The bar also does food, nothing special but perfectly fine.

Comfortable, clean room, with tea coffee making facilities, extra towels, soap, extra pillow & blanket. Cosy room on arrival. Plenty of hot water & good shower. Nice bar & good bar meals. Dog friendly for just £10, dog allowed in room & in bar area where we ate in the evening. Buffet breakfast, good choice Only complaint was that the food & drinks were not quite as hot as we would have liked & the cooked breakfast food was a bit dry, but good fried eggs! Staff were very helpful & friendly in all areas. The pool & spa was lovely, clean & well maintained & so relaxing. Didn't use the gym but it looked to be very modern & well equipped. Would stay again.

I can see this wonderful hotel from 10 years ago has been ruined by certain people. These are the people who actually live there for free. Also they are paid to do so. Anybody that doesn't know the area. You would be better off, not bothering atall. It's a s*it tip. Kindest regards Bob.

Dreadful place. The smell of drink is ripe as soon as you walk in, it's overpowering. The woman who checked us in was so rude I wanted to knock more than the chip of her shoulder. Room overpowered with the smell of dogs. I left the next day due to being put at the back of the hotel despite requesting otherwise. Terrible facilities for people with mobility problems Beds were comfy an it was clean other than the smell. Other staff were polite and friendly.

The food at the Britannia was first rate with a help yourself buffet arrangement where you may eat as much as you like. The rooms were clean and comfortable. It looses out on decor which was not good and felt tacky the public toilets from the main bar were in such bad repair my wife became trapped in a stall.

This hotel is awful, rooms are full of dust, cobwebs, dirt blood stains on curtains, staff laughing at guests when they complaining about tea /coffee been cold evening meals where inedible and cold. We had to stay here for 3 nights on a National Holidays Trip Chester and Liverpool, We now know why this trip was not in a named hotel. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

This place is awful! Mould in bathrooms and dust in the rooms. On our check out date we were woken up at 8am by housekeeping while check out time was at 11am! Housekeeping entered room 2 times before on separate days without knocking. No privacy! Honestly — avoid this place. If there would be an option for giving them feedback below one star, I would definitely give them such feedback. Everything there is disgusting and full of dust! Horrible experience — will not be staying here again!

Located along a main road, free parking in front and behind the hotel. Minimal noise from the road. Free Wi-Fi. Breakfast £9.95, although £7.95 if booked on check in. Shower was not bad. Hotel in general is tired and in need of modernisation. Beds small and noise from other rooms and bar area loud. Price for what you are receiving is disproportionate. Would not recommend or stay here again.

Feel sorry for the staff here, stayed 1 Saturday night. The place has a real edgy atmosphere and doesnt feel safe, trying to find your room is crazy it's like a rabbit Warren. Rooms are pretty rank: pubes in the bathroom, grey hairs and crumbs in the drawers, stains on the wall, broken old TV and wardrobe, rickety bed — need I say more?

Dated hotel, creaky floors and smelled like stale smoke. But cheap and worth it for an overnight stay. Food not too bad in the restaurant, and fairly basic but nice bar selection. Lovely staff too.

Worst place to stay in don't know how it got 3 stars may be because of so many asylum seekers are voting for this place who are staying here we booked a room here for 3 nights. First night we were very tired of journey but couldn't sleep because of board squeaking noises. Early morning I went to reception to complain they changed my room. But when we went to bed at night springs in metres were like boing boing and could hear people talking in another room. You cauldnt drink water from tap that was hazy not clear. Now we are sitting in lounge with flat beer in our hand. I went to bar to say that beer is flat! So the man at bar changed it but as I could see him he filled the glass with the flat beer again and then went to another tap to fill some foam I didn't say anything and came back with flat beer again but my wife is not happy at all I promised her that I won't be booking this place at any cost again. Oh and they gave us room on second floor and you know what the lift is that old designed where you have to close both doors. So whenever we need that lift couldn't use because on other floor somebody didn't close the door properly so we had to go every time by stairs. We are very tired today we went to our room by stairs and our key wasn't working so we had to come back downstairs to the reception and the receptionist said these Key get expired sometimes what a nonsense excuse. Now you know that why we are sitting in lounge and having flat beer.

Got woke up in the middle of the night. Just put this down to one of those things. Then was woke up again 6.30 am all I heard up to me checking out was thud thud thud bang bang bang not happy at all. Hotel is over run with asasylum seekers. No respect they need to understand they are guests in our country.

I ignored the reviews and gave it a chance but coming from someone who prefers to check things out for myself and give everything a chance, I really wish on this occassion I'd taken notice of the ratings. Whilst the majority of the staff were friendly, the duty manager was appauling to say the least, his attitude from the minute I checked in to the moment of standing on the corridor trying to break into our room because the door was broken with half a key in it and he thought it appropriate to admit whilst the room was not fit for a guest we had no option of alternative because the hotel was overbooked. I can appreciate these things can just happen but it is how they are dealt with when they do that matters and our problem with the whole stay was the appauling way this superior member of staff thought it best to deal with us. Offered drinks vouchers to compensate for a room that he confirmed would be out of order as soon as we checked out! Disgusting reaction to a paying guest. Apart from blaming the door not the hotel for our predicament I really didnt need to hear all about how I hadnt paid the hotel directly therefore it wasnt in their power to refund or find us a more suitable alternative. Absolute joke.

1. I always felt England had the best standard of hotels untill I stayed at this decrepit hotel. Signs were there from the start as after having driven 3 hrs met some guys eating and smoking on the stairs right outside the entrance. list 2. The rooms were dull, outdated and stunk of cigarette smoke, portable TV with only 4 channels, dirty bathroom with the previous occupants hairs in the bathroom, stains all up the wall etc. 3. The room felt like a box room and my attempt to change to another was met with the claim by the receptionist that they were full and promised to move me the next day which she failed to do. 4. I was booked in to stay for 5 nights but thier unprofessional manner and unkempt state of the room convinced me to checkout with no refund and book another. 5. This hotel is a disaster zone 6. The staff had a feel of reluctance to serve paying guests. 7. The hotel standards definitely need to look at this place, it is an absolute disaster. I left them with two nights rent, I believe they need the money in winding down this mess for a proper hotelier to run.

No lights. No hotwater. Fire alarm at 3 am every 10 seconds for like 1 hour. Worst hotel I have ever lived in my life.

Went to this hotel for christmas dont bother to go worst christmas food I have ever had frozen not even in the resturant food all frozen no second choice if you do not like what you get toughj I would not reccomend this hotel to my worst enemies they need to upmarket it they keep there christmas fare to outsiders it is a pity the companies travel agents try it themselves without the hotel knowing them.

I visited on the 9th june. The hotel was the worst Britannia I have ever stayed at. This is as low as it goes I hope? Others have been a lot better, It lowers the tone for Britannia Hotels. The sheets were clean, the toilet had used toilet paper still in the bowl, had it been cleaned? the carpet was covered in dust, I started sneezing right away. There was no bath mat? The evening meal was un eatable the chicken breast was just like rubber, I tried the beef, it was tough I couldn't cut through it, the vegetables were cold and the potatoes were rock hard. There was no salad dressing for the salad choice. No rolls for the soup? When I complained to the staff, they couldn't care less. It was badly in need of some tender loving care, I would not stay there again for FREE.
