Has always been fantastic in every way in the past, that is why I would have been happy to visit again in the future if the manager had taken some responsibility for the appalling food this evening, and offered an apology instead of arguing with my friends and I. There are no words to express how dire the food was.

Lovely roast dinner, except for very disappointing roast potatoes. We ordered around 5pm… there was only gammon left, which would never be my first choice, but it was delicious and plenty of meat on my plate. The kitchen need to reheat the roasties a different way, as they were soggy and tasted stale, letting an otherwise decent meal down!

Excellent staff – friendly efficient and a delight to meet — But the food let’s the place down. Sunday lunch was overcooked, the beef like rubber, and the whole meal tepid. This is not just our experience Over a two hour stay, we witnessed the same issues with many others who “didn’t like to complain”. Obviously, food is prepared and kept ready to serve quickly, which destroys the taste and texture. Lovely place – delicious desserts – But the head chef should be ashamed (if indeed they have one)

Why can't all pubs be more like the Woodthorpe? Beautiful building, friendly staff and atmosphere and superb Holts beer.

The staff were great as was the food, the price was very good as well. 6 drinks and 3 main meals for around £43, can't say fairer than that!

Just had out tea at the woodthorpe and the food was gorgeous. Cheese and onion pie on an autumn day is a must here. Service was brilliant. Even with all that is happening now with COVID we felt at ease and safe. My son loved his tea and especially his ice cream. Looking forward to my next visit.

Love this place. Food is great atmosphere is just right. And you really have to taste the fish finger butty.

This pub is amazing food is geoegeous, staff are always welcoming in and find u a seat if busy. I travel further than my local to go here as it's worth it for good service best pub around here x.

Such a shame, this place has really gone downhill! We were a table of 7 but had to wait an hour inbetween each course, despite booking in advance. Seemed to be one member of staff serving food plus the manager, and she was also helping out behind the bar.
One of the main courses was inedible (it was only fish & chips! ), the others were average at best (apart from the sea bass which went down very well), the desserts came with cream instead of ice cream, which our eldest doesn't like so had to be sent back, the 'fondant' special was little more than a warm sponge cake, cutlery wasn't provided after the starters for the mains…
On the whole it was a disappointing experience. We did complain mid meal and again at the end and a discount was applied to our bill, but I'm afraid it doesn't make up for the poor service and less than average food. I won't be going again.

A big group of us come in today for a 70th Birthday celebration and I found the service to be great!
I've recently become vegan and although currently they don't have a vegan option, Taylor tried extremely hard to cater for me by looking through the whole menu and allergy book.
Usually when I go out to eat and mention i'm vegan I get an eye roll. But today it was so nice to know they spent time trying their best to cater for me and most importantly I wasn't judged!
Taylor was absolutely lovely and is a brilliant supervisor. (You will certainly go far! )
Callum, our waiter, was lovely and provided us with excellent service by catering to all our needs with food and drinks.
All the staff seem like a hard working bunch too :)

I will be trying to contact Holts and requesting if there will be a possibility of a vegan menu. If not even just one vegan option would be great!

The service was terrible… she didn't know what she was doing… been here many times before and had a lovely meal… we ordered 2 cheese pies and 1 fish… they only had 1 cheese pie so I had fish… the fish was like rubber even though the batter was perfect… for dessert my brother ordered ice cream it came with only 2 scoops instead of 3… I ordered rocky road cake that was only chocolate cake and the sponge wasn't fresh… I asked if it had been taken over and the waitress told me it had 9mths ago… even though I complained I didn't get any money taken off the bill… I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and won't be visiting again myself.
