Clean room reasonable price, rather small difficult to find, but the breakfast was shocking half of it cold dirty tables I asked for water twice which never arrived, the toaster broken, no hand sanitizer anywhere you can't blame the young staff this was management.

We paid £234 for 2 nights was absolutely awful. Hair in Bath. Blood on sheets noisy. Couldn't bath coz it flooded the bathroom. Avoid.

Alway helpful and accommodating for our courses.

Staff was great. Friendly atmosphere. Breakfast fantastic.

I got married here on the 26th of may the staff were so helpfull they couldnt of done any more than they did to make my day amazing anyone thing of getting married her you should do so its amazing thank you so much to each and everyone of yous xx.

Superb venue with a great team of friendly staff — its always a pleasure to work with this venue and the staff here.

Great location and excellent service, especially from Jay at reception, very friendly and sorted our luggage while we had drinks. He also recommended a restaurant and booked it for us which was also excellent. Rooms small but clean and quiet and breakfast was good too. Will be using again.

A hotel of contradictions… Staff were lovely! Location was good. Towels were great and luxury soap in bathroom too. But… Bed was terrible, sign in bathroom asking to ensure rubber mat on shower floor and shower curtain closed but there was NO rubber mat OR shower curtain. We stayed on a dinner, bed and breakfast deal, but we're told at dinner that it only included "fish n chips, pizza or a burger". Very disappointing and misleading as this wasnt mentioned when we bought the offer online. We had a nice time anyway, but I wouldn't go back until these issues were addressed. Great staff though, they are a credit to the hotel.

A very strategically-located hotel, between Manchester Piccadilly railway station and the Oxford Road buildings of Manchester University. The usual facilities are present and well-organised — and the breakfasts are excellent. But the staff are what really make this hotel shine. I found them to be infallibly pleasant, courteous, and helpful.

Hi we stayed here for 1 night for my husband's birthday & to do a bit of shopping as it is only 10/15 min walk from all shops & we went out around canal street at night we have stayed at this hotel before & chose to stay here again because of location & the hotel in general… & hotel & rooms are clean & spacious the room we stayed in this time on 3rd floor was a bit small but didn't let that put us off… bed really comfortable & everything in room u need hairdryer. Iron. Fan. Kettle. & we enjoyed a meal in restaurant & also breakfast was very nice it was a buffet breakfast so leave hotel on a full stomach… would recommend this hotel all day long… so hope to be back there again soon.

Room OK but could do with updating. Location good. Wi-Fi absolutely terrible. Food nice. Staff are superb, cannot do enough for you. Plug socket are a rarity and all on the opposite side of room for some reason.

I definitely asked a quiet room, but there were high traffic noise, however they have plenty enough rooms facing to the quiet backyard. I asked the staff to change my room, but I was advised to close the window. Actually it has not much effect since the their windows are not noise isolating ones, furthermore there were quite hot due to the summer Sun and there are no airconditioner. So the room I had was hot and noisy. Brilliant. I stayed there several times before and I was satisfied with this hotel, but it seems to me that I have to find other one if I visit Manchester.

Decided to stay here since it was close to Piccadilly station (about 15 min walk) and the price seemed really good. Check-in went smoothly and the staff really friendly. The room itself that I booked wasn't big but I was traveling on my own so it wasn't an issue. There are plenty of plugs in the room to charge electronics and the washroom was a good size. Was a little loud outside but not a big deal and to be expected since it's right next door to the University of Manchester. All in all I enjoyed my stay.

Really very good location, just a few yards. From the gay Village (just go straight ahead, flank the garden where there is the statue of Alan Turing and just across the bridge you are in the main street with all the pubs) the best neighborhood in the city! Also close to the university then juvenile, close to the bus stop (at 50 Mt from Starbucks, in front of the gardens). Clean, big bathroom x be in England, nice wide shower. Change towels every day even if you don't leave them on the ground. Available in the kettle with tea, coffee and very good biscuits. Reception, large the restaurant with outside veranda and the menu (3/4 page e) available in the room in the file bound; I do only 4stars because I did not try the breakfast and the restaurant kitchen. Convention Center also.

Lovely hotel room and an amazing breakfast. All the staff are friendly and polite. First time in Manchester and the man on the reception desk gave me a map and showed me where I needed to go. Would highly recommend.

Excellent location and fairly clean hotel, staff were great to begin with but totally clueless as to what to do at 3am when the fire alarm went off, total chaos, wouldn't phone the manager and alarm not linked to fire brigade, hotel guest had to phone for fire engine and other guests were told to go back to bed, male receptionist had aggressive manner too. We all left our contact numbers and email addresses on check out and were all told that the manager would contact us later that day… We are still waiting for that phone call.

We stayed here for 1 night after a concert we attended. Staff very accommodating, room was lovely great size room and bed. Small amount of tea and coffee facilities but the person on reception gave us more. Breakfast was great, good choice of items and a very relax environment. We will be coming again soon in the future.

Wow what a great friendly place. All staff where brilliant. Nothing was to much bother. They gave us a complementary 20% off our next visit and will be going again. Thanks guys.

Compact double room is in need of renovation, feels like a student halls of residence which is what half of the hotel used to be. However the rates are competitive and the location is good.

Our stay at the pendulum hotel was really good. The staff very helpful couldn't fault them they made you feel so welcome. The rooms were really nice lovely and clean had a lovely sleep especially after having a busy day attending a concert. Breakfast was so nice cleared the plate full cooked breakfast. Definitely come again recommend it to everyone. Many thanks x.

Only went for the day to a conference but staff were lovely and lots of places to sit and read.

Cons: You need to walk quite a bit to get to the actual city centre, but it's fine especially considering the price. They have a small shop within the hotel but it is very pricey. If you want to save money, you have to walk some distance to find a convenience store. The location looks like it's the middle of no where and there are no businesses or restaurants nearby. I think I saw a cafe nearby but that's it. Pros: The hotel room is very nice for the price as well. I think it's perfect for business trips. The bed is sooo comfy and I slept so well. They have a nice garden café.

Staff are very helpful and friendly and the hire is situated on a one way street so it is very quiet.

Full marks for the management for not risking the waste of any money in the upkeep of this hotel. Carpets through are filthy. Pillows are like balloons, most uncomfortable. Shower water temp impossible to control and insufficient pressure for the sprinkle to make it past the taps. Bath chipped and grubby. Room heating disfunctional. Lots of noise from the street. Service at breakfast unacceptable. No hot food. No waitress service so had to find our own hot drinks. General poor state of repair of everything. People routinely locked out of their rooms in the morning it seems. For the money, a very poor experience …!

I've not stayed here but went to my partners works Christmas do and really enjoyed it. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. If I'm ever in need of a hotel in Manchester I would keep this one in mind.

Lovely staff and the room was very clean and cosy. The bed was comfy and the bathroom water pressure was divine. Had a great shower! Would definitely recommend and visit again.

Stayed here the night before an exam at Manchester Uni. Stayed in a simple single room that had everything you'd expect. The free Wi-Fi was useful for the last minute cramming. Hotel was quite and I slept as well as I could do!

This is the second time we have stayed and planning to return in February with a group of family and friends. Great location for the city. Rooms are compact but have all you need in them. Good breakfast facilities and the staff are very helpfull and friendly. The hotel is clean and tidy. All night car parking across the road.

Room was ample, bathroom relatively clean. The clothes iron leaked a lot when ironing. Room was very warm without any specific way to control the temp, opened a window instead. Overall okay stay.

It's currently 12:24am. I am sitting in my room with bass running up the walls from the Christmas party they're hosting on-site. It's like there's somebody in my room with a speaker system on full volume. I cannot get to sleep and there are no alternative rooms to put me in elsewhere in the establishment. I have important business meetings tomorrow and I thought I was paying £110 for a good night's sleep. I would have accepted noise up until 11pm, which would be the limits of reason. However, to have the noise up until 1am or 2am (the staff are unsure what time the party will end) is unacceptable. Further, having looked on other review sites, it would seem that this is a regular complaint from customers. This is an absolute disgrace. Why on earth a hotel would host Christmas parties if it cannot guarantee that the hotel guests can get a good night's sleep. Surely the primary function of a hotel is to allow it's guests to sleep! I will be seeking a full refund from the hotel. Failing that, Small Claims Action will be conducted. I look forward to management's response.

A bit shabby. Noise travels readily. Thankfully, my room had a fire door between it and the mezzanine that overlooks the bar area. The room (413) was relatively comfortable, it desperately needed a re-paint. The bathroom could have done with a scrub. The tile grouting was a bit brown in areas and the soap dispenser was grimey where it had been refilled and not cleaned. The room also smelled fusty when I got there. Thankfully, the window opened and I was able to air it while I was out. However, the bed was clean and comfy. When I got there there was a Christmas party starting, with two scantily clad girls greeting people as they arrived (they must've been freezing standing next to the door in their sparky leotards and tights). Not really needed in this day and age. A sign that this hotel is living in the 90s along with its decor.

Stayed overnight at the hotel last night, cannot fault the hotel or the staff. Lovely clean room (a little on the small side) but didn’t bother us as we didn’t spend much time in the room anyway. Had an evening meal in the garden bar which was delicious! Unfortunately we missed breakfast, but on checkout we were offered fresh tea/coffee and the lady that dealt with us both on check in and out was lovely, unfortunately we didn’t get her name though. Would highly recommend and I’m sure we’ll be visiting again.

Lovely conference centre with great facilities. Staff are nothing but friendly and helpful, providing me with everything I needed to deliver my training event. Food provided is very tasty. Only downside is that the heating failed but they quickly put some heaters in the room to counter it.

Good location for station and University. Good value and everything you need in terms of service. Room fairly small but clean and comfortable. Overall very nice hotel for a professional stay.

Good reasonably priced hotel. I chose the larger 21m2 room which is definitely better for space. The first room smelled and had wet/damp area at the entrance of the bathroom on the carpet (315! ). I was able to change rooms and that one was better… The carpet does smell a bit (old shoes) but I think over time it is like this. Breakfast was decent, enough variety for 3 mornings.

Great location, literally just a minute from Canal Street and the Gay Village. Friendly staff, nice room, but compact and bed is small for a double, feet were hanging off the end.

Nice and basic. Not a bad place. I needed a room to crash in for a few nights & they provided one. Think it doubles as student accommodation.

We stayed here for our 1st Wedding Anniversary. A lovely hotel, not too far away from pubs and clubs and the city centre. The food was lovely, the breakfast was fab and the staff was really nice and helpful too. The room was lovely and the staff got us a Anniversary card with a ice bucket and glasses in the room she. We arrived. The room was on the small side but didn't affect our stay we had a lovely time there. Thank you xxx.

I regularly use the Pendulum Hotel. The rooms are well equipped, clean and decent sized for the rates. It's a short walk from Piccadilly Station and only a slightly longer walk into "town". The Garden Bar is sensibly priced for a hotel bar, with decent drinks and food quality interesting food. I've also never had bad service from the staff. Breakfast is excellent, just missing black pudding but tempting as it is I won't drop a star just for that!

Hotel was only a few minutes walk from Piccadilly station and allowed quick access via taxi to the Manchester Arena. The staff were very friendly and the garden bar was a nice little area to have a drink in the sun. One criticism I would have would be that the room is a little small however this would be perfect if staying alone and is reasonable enough for a couple as long as you don't mind getting in each others way. The place was out of the way of the hustle and bustle but close enough to get to everywhere by taxi/on foot with ease, I would definitely stay here again.

Great staff so helpful, the breakfast was brilliant probable the best sausage I have eaten I a hotel normally they are pretty poor but this one was top marks, staff in the garden bar are fantastic, still have 2 more days to go as well.

Very good location and easy to find once off the motorway, it's neat but I wouldn't say it's luxurious. It served it's purpose for our visit which was finding an affordable in comparison to others but close enough stay to attend the Beyoncé concert. The room for a double room was very small, just enough room for 2 to manoeuvre but certainly not simultaneously. For the price it was high I felt considering the size of the room, I've definitely paid alot less for a much bigger and well kept room. The double bed was pretty small in length I'm 5'9 and my feet were hanging off the end and the mattress was pretty firm but I don't mind that too much. I would recommend if you are really only looking for a bed to sleep for one night in the city centre, if you're looking for something more this isn't the place for you. The staff were lovely and helpful though.

Extremely rude staff. The Deputy General Manager Darren Melia, prevented me from returning to the hotel after purchasing some very over priced coffee in the hotel. He refused to allow other members of the public to return because the hotel was hosting a pro fracking meeting even though some elderly customers needed to use the toilet facilities.

Even basic amenities not provided in room. No mini fridge, no toothbrush kit (they sell it for 1 pound at thr reception! ), and uncourteous staff at reception.

For the price, this hotel is poorly maintained. The staff were helpful and the food in the bar was perfectly acceptable for a working evening meal. However the rooms, facilities and decor were a massive letdown. The shower in the bathroom leaked and flooded the bathroom upon use. The room looked worn and dilapidated. The fixtures and fittings were dated, the carpets worn and stained. I wasn't too sure about the linin and towels either. As a result, I came away feeling unclean and concerned about hygiene of the rooms, which is a great shame. This hotel has no car parking. My room faced the main street and my curtains barely blocked out the flashing blue lights of constant passing police cars.

Customer service was excellent! Which was very appreciated after a long and stressful commute traveling. The hotel seems to be going for a "hip" feel… It's working! Feels hip. It'll be cool for a 20 or 30 something year old to crash while in town. Super close to gay bars/nightlife. Despite affordability… Room was better than expected. I'd stay here again :-).

Great rooms and they are quite spacious for two people with a twin room. I came for my hen do and the staff were great and helpful. Check in was simple and the food in the restaurant was brilliant, in fact all of my hens commented on the meal they had and they all loved it. I did call reception a few times to ask for glasses and it took them over an hour to bring them up after calling twice again but other than that I loved the place. Its well worth going and checking out as the breakfast is also amazing the variety was good and freshly made. I would only say that they need more staff to serve breakfast as it was quite busy and only 3 people on which meant we had to check out slightly later as we were waiting on tea and coffee to come round. If someone asked me to go again I would as I think its actually a nice placate go and local to everything you need in Manchester.

We want a central hotel to the city centre as we were seeing a show. We had no problems finding this hotel from the railway station and once booked in by the helpful staff we headed out for a great time. Rooms comfortable and everything we needed. Would stay again.

Travel around Europe in mid March 2015 and stayed at 5 different hotels. Perhaps this is the worst among all. Stayed there for 2 nights and the hotel is located very close to the Manchester Piccadilly station. (Less than 10 mins walk) Nice location! Their staff is nice but they do charge you 20 pounds for early check-in. I refused to pay, so they help to store my luggage in a room next to the reception. Hotel lobby is nice and comfortable. But the corridor is too narrow. And the room as well. Terribly small room! I am 5"9" tall with less than 70kg. The room is so small that I can't even walk after I opened my luggage. And the warmer is also terrible! It will turn off automatically after 2 hrs (well. I never expect I need to wake up in the mid night to turn on the warmer for every 2hrs). And maybe I was so unlucky, a girl yelled outside my room twice in the mid night to look for somebody. (Probably a guy. ) Shower pressure is too low which I don't enjoy at all. It's too cold in Manchester. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! and I totally disagree with the overall rating as "Good or 7.7" rated by other travellers from Agoda.

Had to endure a room right above their function room, so had to deal with loud music until 12.30am. All I was told was there was nothing that could be done, and that I should have known about the Parties they hold. I complained in both person and in writing, yet no Manager has taken the time to get back in touch. This is a shame, as it seems a reasonable hotel otherwise, but I'd warn anyone who wants to go to bed at a reasonable time during the weekend.
