What a fab function room! Had my Daughters party here this weekend, Chantelle was amazing from start to finish — organising & setting everything up for us! The food they provided on the buffet was absolutely beautiful! We will definitely be back again 😊🎈 Thank you x.

Young lady on reception was polite and very helpful. Had an issue with keys not working for the room but she sorted it after a few attempts. Room was very basic and dated. Clean enough. Room was very hot at night so had to open windows but the curtains stopped the draft so made no difference, couldn't open curtains for privacy due to ground floor and window right alongside the road. Bath was peeling/corroded which was rather unsightly. TV lost its signal every few minutes which was frustrating whilst trying to watch a program. However the biggest issue for us was the Bathroom lights. Not sure if this was a timer issue or electrical fault but they turned off by themselves several times during our stay, twice being during showers which was very unsafe having to climb out mid shower in the pitch black darkness. Expect a lot more for £85 for a single night for room only. Especially when compared to other chains which charge less for modern rooms with breakfast.

I stayed at the hotel with my friend as we were watching the killers play at Bolton football ground. Staff were extremely helpful. When we arrived we immediately asked the receptionist to organise a taxi for us she did that as well as offering us to share a taxi with a couple on the way to the same event which was handy for all of us. I'd left my sidelights on in my car over night and the receptionist was happy to help again and the manager of the hotel came along in his car and jump leads and got us on our way. Excellent all round. Nice breakfast too.

Noisy if room on main road. Room clean and adequate but little dated. Staff friendly and helpful.

We have never had any problems from the hotel. We travel from Redditch when we are heading to Leigh. To get to the hotel. When we book in never had a refusal at all. Will be booking again very soon Keep it up greyhound.

Phoned to book in a emergency 21st birthday party. Due to a last minute change of venue. They really made it a meal to remember. They decorated the table for us and even brought complimentary bottle of Prosecco on ice. Service was spot on, not rushed. Xx.

Cleanliness is something I believe needs to be looked at, while moving both double beds looking for my purse we were shocked at empty crisps packets, a lighter, sweets, bits of paper, crumbs and an inch of dust on the carpet. In the dining room the leather on the chairs is peeling off 90% of them, looks very scruffy and dated. I have given 2 stars, 1 for the breakfast and 1 for the friendly staff and comfortable bed. Basically the decore needs updated BIG time and needs a darn good cleaning!

Cheap and cheerful. Rooms were ok, smallest TV I've seen in a good few years. Could do with updating but for the price would expect nothing more. The star is being lost because the plug sockets are so close to the fix desks, any plug that goes downward with a USB plug in won't fit, this lead to me not being able to recharge my phone in 2 days.

Not bad for a budget hotel at £50 a night. Very dated but served it's purpose. The room was clean and had everything I needed, they offer Wi-Fi but not secure connection so was unable to use it for work. My room was on the ground floor front facing — the Hotel / pub is on a main road so was quite noisy with traffic through the night and had to keep the curtains closed so no-one could see in. They have a restaurant with a good menu… I had the stew which was nice and the breakfast is buffet, There are dividers full of empty wine bottles which are very dusty and was quite off-putting. There are good sport facilities and plenty of parking.

Pleasant surroundings efficient staff, and well situated. Good selection of draught and bottled drinks. Adequate parking that is easily accessible.

Visited to view the health club. Staff were lovely friendly and helpful. Gym very very small and pool. Too expensive for the facilities.

Non-smoking must mean something different across the pond. Our non-smoking room smelled line a smoking room, or maybe a smoking room is somehow worse? The staff was super friendly though, and they were more than willing to allow us to change/cancel our reservation so we could go be with at our son's hotel where he and his rugby team were staying. Unfortunately, the rugby tournament we went for was canceled at the last minute, so some plan modifying was necessary. The location is pretty good if you're looking for cheaper accommodations near the Leigh Sports Village.

Great place to stay over and the swimming pool, sauna, gym are great. Staff very friendly and helpfull. Rooms are a good size and clean. Breakfast is good and as a good choice.

The rooms are described as unfussy, which I'd agree with. The showers could certainly be improved — poor water pressure and the temperature control is questionable. The bedsheets have seen better days, but seem clean. My colleague's TV was not working. The attached restaurant/bar was adequate, but in no rush to return. All in all, it was ok. For the price (~£50) it was good enough.

We wouldn't stay anywhere else. Good sized clean rooms. Staff are very friendly yet professional and go out of there way for you. Nothing is too much trouble. There is everything you need in the rooms and clean towels every day if required. Will have many more future visits and I would recommend the Greyhound without hesitation.

A Boxing Day family get together ruined. Given 1 star only because there's not a minus option. Won't be going back, service poor, food cold, staff seemed completely disinterested.

Had Christmas lunch here today. Brilliant service, great atmosphere and excellent food! Highly recommend and will definately be going there for Christmas lunch next year. Thank you to all the staff, you were great!

Just had a brilliant Christmas dinner party food was lovely plates were hot and artist brilliant and DJ good too.

The rooms are very dated looks like something from the 70's and very expensive for what they are. Breakfast was plentiful but not the best. I was considering haveing my wedding here but I will be looking elsewhere.

The staff are very helpful and friendly. I thought the rooms were in need of redecorating as they were quite dated. The first room we were given had a window that wouldn't close and I had to remove four spiders within the first 30 minutes, however the staff were lovely and moved us to another (better) room straight away. The swimming pool was a lovely temperature and the hot tub was also great, the steam room had no steam and the sauna was ok.

Fantasic venue for weddings and private functions Staff very help full The DJ's are amazing and outstanding Hotel rooms are dated though.

This place has great potential but needs an uplift. Room large but dated. Carpet stained, sofa bed looks broken, sink plug broken. Went to bar for meal and my first two choices were not available. Breakfast service was OK but no fruit bowl as listed on the menu. Swimming pool OK but changing facility small and dated.

The staff were helpful and friendly but that's it for the positives. Food was poor. Lasagne burnt to a hard crust on the underside, fish far from fresh with an unpleasant smell and soggy batter and the sausage and mash totally submerged under half an inch of watery gravy. If we hadn't been there to celebrate my mum's birthday I would have sent it all back. Bad, bad, bad, bad, I would only recommend this place to my worst enemy. Avoid eating here.

Great place staff helpful friendly and can have a laugh whilst still doing there jobs to a high standard. Food good rooms good general experience spot on hope to stay here again and use all that is offered in gym and swim. And big thanks to my little pal on reception / the bar nicest person I met on my stay and the first friendly face. She knows she is amazing lol.

If I only have to evaluate the staff, I would easily give 30 stars, because the staff cannot be held responsible for broken and from the 1960s furniture and I have not been so loving and Helpful staff of a hotel. But! In the bathroom there was a mold and the TV has a diagonal of 21 inches. You don't dare to sit on the chairs. The curtains have not been cleaned since they were hung 60 years ago.

Went for a pre-booked family member's birthday meal. Starter was over microwaved to the point it was all soggy, carvery was poor with only beef being available and the veg were barely warm, dessert was OK though. Place is looking old and tired and needs a refurbishment.

Its cheap and cheerful. Not for your family needs upgrade. Staff though wonderful.

The hotel generally is in need of TCL food and service very good. The gym also needs a good cleaning and maintenance but the attendant was really nice… for the money we paid £40 for one night can not grumble. This is our second visit and I'm pretty sure not the last.

Clean hotel. Nice size room, dark and quiet, nice for sleeping. Friendly, accomodating staff! Great food in pub! Lively atmosphere on Saturday night. Staying here 5 nights. Will post more.

Room overlooked by a road. Shower was ok for once. Food was overpriced and thankfully small portions as it was overcooked. Steak is 15 and you'll have to ask for it blue to hopefully get it back not black.

Great Value hotel with free access to the onsite gym and pool. I had a room overlooking the east lancs which is quite a noisy road.

Lovely food, great service and a "proper pube feeling" when you go in. The beer is cold as well!

I booked this hotel for a colleague, it took him 10 minutes to clean the bathroom before he would use it — not the cleanest or friendliest hotel around!

From the moment I stepped through the door I loved it, the staff, the bar, the restaraunt the gym, the room was more than I ever wanted, sauna jacuzzi and steam room were lovely, bar lovely food and nice atmosphere, breakfast good range but could of been a little hotter, read this on previous reviews not that I ever take any notice of them, everyone has different expectations. And for £67 for me and my partner money well spent had a great night will be returning.

Always had a lovely meal here and lovely staff.

Some items on the menu are very elusive, in 3 nights I was unable to pin down a lamb shank or ham hock. No steak on menu. When asked for glass of Shiraz and glass of soda it was poured into one glass. The lasagne is overcooked gloop with non tasting white sauce and lots of it. Toilet leaked when you sat on it.

Due to an urgent situation we stayed at The Sporting Lodge Hotel for three days because of its location. We informed reception that the toilet wouldn't flush and also informed them that a bed-side light had a short as it flickered on and off and the light on the overhead dressing mirror was hanging out by its cable! We were told there wasn't another room available but were promised the problems would be quickly rectified. The overhead light was pushed back into place but the bed-side light or toilet were not fixed. Because of our difficult situation (which was bad enough) we spent very little time at the hotel and had no spare time unfortunately, to move hotels. We stressed again how inconvenient and totally unacceptable it was not to have use of a working toilet and having to use one downstairs which we were forced to endure for our three day stay. We wrote to the general manager but he was no better than the toilet that didn't work. This hotel is right on top of a very noisy busy dual carriageway and adjacent to a very noisy pub. If this isn't enough there is also a very noisy kennels immediately at the back of this hotel so please, be warned! The only good words we have to add is the hotel has a small swimming pool and adjacent spa. Be warned, really "NOT" recommended.
