While we are generally enjoying our stay at the Beaumont there have been almost a comedy of errors / missteps since our arrival. The hotel did reach out to us to see when we would arrive to hopefully give an early check in (around 2 pm). Of course there were no promises or expectations that our room would be ready before 3 pm. It wasn't ready. We were told it would be closer to 3 pm. We checked back every now and then while enjoying some very nice complimentary tea and by about 3:30ish after waiting more than an hour we were told it would be another 40 minutes or so. Not too big a deal only this is our first time in London and we are meeting friends at 4:45. We wanted to get out and explore so we asked them to text us when the room was ready. They agreed but never did. We came back at 4:20 thinking our room wasn't ready but needed something from our luggage prior to meeting friends. As it turns out room is ready. We don't have time to fully unpack but wanted to at least get to the room. We tell them we are in a hurry. A few min later They bring up the wrong luggage. Ok ordinarily no big deal but we are late. They bring up the correct luggage quickly and we are only slightly late for meeting friends. The following morning we had a private tour booked and they told us they would come to the lobby of the hotel. We wait and wait and think the tour guide is late so we call the company. He's not late he has been there for 25 minutes but the staff kicked him out of the lobby and told him they would tell us that he is outside. They didn't. And we were pretty much the only people in the lobby. Nobody said a single word to us about it. They saw us and said good morning. We got a late start to the tour which was upsetting. This is also the second time they communicated poorly. Tried the TV when we got home later in the night. Didn't work. Took engineering a bit to fix the issue but handled professionally. All this said this is a beautiful hotel in a wonderful location. It's also so wonderfully British and there are some touches you don't see often. The staff I feel is genuine and really wants to right the wrongs. I think we would recommend this hotel to others because it's unlikely there would be this many problems. Hence the three stars. However, this will likely be our last stay.
