Review of London Marriott Maida Vale 4*

Not what I expect from a Marriott; this hotel is rated as a four star, it is a 3 star at best. I do not recommend staying here. Biggest issue was the service; bar staff was amazing and they are to be excluded. It was one thing after another. We called 10 miles out to ask about parking, we were promptly told it would be an additional 30 a night (which is the same if we found parking on the street btw), I responded with surprise that they didn't subsidize parking and the response was 'no, we share the car park'. Okay, annoying but. Room was okay, air wasn't working, it was instant coffee, it was loud with the window open (thankful I was on 6th floor). First room service call: ordered a pepsi with order, they forgot it, so I thought, I called back and was told they were out (I can not confirm if I was charged). Next day we call down to see what time breakfast is served until, 11am. We arrive at the restaurant at 10:30 where we are then told that breakfast is only served until 10:30, we do get seated but are interrupted every 5 min as they are breaking down each leg of the buffet to be asked if we would like anything else. Next day we call the front desk to see what they recommend as a place to eat, LaVille, we ask for a cab. We arrive, it is closed. Next day we attempt room service again, order red wine, we receive a bottle of white, I call, no answer and no answering service. Wait and call back. Bottle of red takes 10 more min to arrive. The pool: it is not owned or operated by the Marriott and therefore you are at the mercy of the Fitness facilities hours. You have to walk through personal residences in order to access it so make sure you are dressed appropriately. During the holidays, the hours were very limited or non existent. Regardless of where I am in the world, I should be able to get the same great service and accommodation from a Marriott. This was a disappointing part of my holiday in London.
