Extremely convenient location being across the street from Kings Cross, but really quiet once you get inside. Each room is beautifully designed and unique, albeit on the smaller side. Staff is very friendly and it's a lovely place to come back to after a day of work in London. Free a la carte breakfast for Platinum members at the award winning restaurant is a big plus!

Loved staying here. Interiors are fresh and well-considered. Free cake and candy (along with tea and coffee) down the hall. Amazing location.

This hotel is rated a 5 star but it's far off the 5 star mark. My room was very small and amenities basic, more like a 3 star. Definitely wins on location being a few steps away from Kings Cross making it very convenient.

Lovely property, well done renovation and styling, super convenient. But be aware, only bathtub, no shower in some rooms. The snacks in the pantry are amazing!

Great location easy to get around. Loads of nice restaurants nearby. The staff are friendly. The room is nice and clean, BUT! it is very very very small. There is absolutely no space even to put my carry on luggage. If you travel with any suitcase you won't be able to move around the room at all. There's no desk for working in the room and there's no business centre or lounge area other than the pub to sit and work from.

It was an unexpectedly pleasant experience staying here. I was upgraded and while the room was still small, it didn't bother me because it was only me staying in my room. There is a kitchen in the hallway that has really delicious cake, candies, and coffee/tea. I've never had that at any hotel and I'm a SPG Platinum. The location was super convenient-by the tube and shopping. If anyone is taking the Eurostar this is even more convenient. There is also a Michelin restaurant that's part of the hotel-too bad I didn't get a chance to try!

Beautiful hotel, although the rooms are a bit small. Location is absolutely outstanding with easy access to anywhere in London. Service is nice but lacks the free bottled water I get at other SPG hotels.

My favorite hotel in London. Amazing location, you can anywhere in London in minutes being this close to major stations. Even if they are small for American standards, rooms are well decorated and furnished. Hotel has good amenities for business travelers such as a micro kitchen in each floor and a business center. Room service menu is top notch and there are many good options around if you aren't feeling lazy or tired. Gym is modern and includes classes at nearby clubs like Barry's at no extra cost. I can't really complain about this hotel, it's a bit pricey but it delivers beyond expectations, I will definitely be returning to it in the future.

Stayed 5 days in this cosy hotel in front of the famous historic St. Pancras station. Great location, taxi rank near the hotel, nearby King Cross station, where Harry Potter went to Hogwarts. The rooms are small and inexpensive for the price, good noise insulation and cleaning. Very stylish décor of the hotel walls. Loved the breakfasts in the hotel restaurant plum and spilled milk (recalled at once the proverb Cry over spilt milk tears of grief will not help). Friendly staff. Would recommend to anyone arriving by train to London.

Great hotel. Located right on the Kings Cross station. Literally got out of the subway and here is the hotel. Free Wi-Fi, fast, no problem.
Comfortable rooms, small but comfortable. On the floor (at the end of the wing) there is a coffee machine with very good skin, tea, biscuits. Everything is free.
It is very convenient to stay if from London you drive then somewhere on the railroad.

Nice clean room. The room was quite small, but it was perfectly fine for 1 person during two nights. The safe is too small, doesn't fit a laptop.

The worst Hotel I've seen in London so far. Mini Room, the Bed about 1 Meter next to the Toilet Bowl, Usury Fee of 200 Pounds in case I possibly. Take a Coke out of the Room and unfriendly Staff which does not respond to e-mail requests in advance and is not Able to operate a Credit Card Reader! What is "5-Star" about this Hotel, I really can't understand. I would sort it into the 3-Star hotel category.

Excellent hotel with beautiful rooms, super friendly staff, lively bar in a great location. I had some problems with the AC in my room, however my rating is 5 stars anyways assuming that was a one-off.

This room is incredibly small, even for European standards. I’ve stayed in smaller rooms in Asia, but I’ve never stayed in a room that was so badly designed. It was stunning how poorly designed and placed everything was. Zero thought was given to people actually using the room. The bed mattress is set on top of a high platform, a normal technic in small rooms so you can put luggage under the bed, but in this room its closed off, so it is totally wasted and your luggage has to sit in the middle of the extremely small floor space. There is a small closet that they then fill with stuff so you can’t use it. There is a tiny desk that they then cover with stuff so you can’t use it. The power outlets are hard to get to. None of the switches are labeled and the placement of them are just bazar. The hallway from the bed area to the bathroom is so narrow that if you open one of the half doors for the closet or bathroom you can’t get by. Two people can not walk through this area at a time. The bathroom is right across from the door entering the room and the gap between the two half doors is so big that if someone is in the bathroom and the room door is opened, anyone outside of your room will see you going to the bathroom (this happened to me). There is a heated towel rack, nice addition, but its placed as far from the shower that you’ll never use it.

Beautiful hotel adjacent to King's Cross Station and just across from St Pancreas Station. Rooms are on the slightly larger size for the EU. Malin + Goetz bath products. Best hotel feature? The pantries on each floor with sweets, tea, coffee, etc.

Great, convenient location. Right above King's Cross station so loads of transport links available. Rooms are clean and the pantry is well stocked for late night munches.

Great location right next to the EuroStar, Underground and many bus lines. Rooms on the top floor are smallish but great for a business or leisure traveler not spending a lot of time in the room. I loved my room (512) as it was very cool, dark and comfortable. The decor is a mix between an elegant train car and something out of Harry Potter. Loved my seven night stay and would definitely return.

Lovely hotel with great amenities, restaurant, and great location. Even though the hotel is in the Northeast section of the city, being literally on top of a major transportation hub makes it a perfect spot to stay and easily see the city sites. Also, the area that is located in has a lot of new development and good restaurant selection.

Loved the Plum and Spilt Milk restaurant at the Great Northern. Great vegetarian options, mint choc chip baked Alaska was best dessert I've had in decades. Fantastic service. Waiter asked if we were celebrating, told him daughter had just qualified as a doctor so he went straight to kitchen came back with four chocolate truffles on a dish with congratulations doctor piped onto it!

Great hotel. Perfect location for transportation via subways or trains. Beautiful and comfortable rooms. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Two minus points. Rooms are small with little space to store your cloths and the hotel has no gym.

Could not be more convenient — right next to King's Cross. Recent renovation looks awesome, rooms are highly efficient for their size, bathrooms have showers from ceiling. My new go-to London hotel.

Boutique hotel, very comfortable and very quiet (you wouldn't know you were between 2 major rail stations). Free guest pantry on each floor, with cake, sweets and fruit. Staff were very helpful, allowing us to check in before our room was ready, and taking our luggage to put in it when it was free.

Great staff. The room is very cool motor coach inspired the pantry available to guests was a nice surprise. Great location to get around. Lots to do around.

Amazing "boutique" hotel under the Starwood brand. We got upgraded to one of the larger rooms (which was still tiny). Despite the small rooms, the layouts are good and everything feels fresh and fancy. The pantry on each floor was SO amazing and it was nice to be able to go grab an espresso and snack on demand. Breakfast in the restaurant was fabulous.

The GNH is truly a special place and a gem of the city. Beautiful clean rooms and highly attentive staff. We stayed for our anniversary and the hotel arranged our favorite room. Top floor over looking kings cross. The finishing touches, roll top bath and complimentary pantry meant you can relax in luxury. I argue anyone that can find fault with this special place.

Love this place! It is a boutique hotel but part of SPG! It along with kings cross station and you might miss the hotel if you don't look at the Name / hotel signs! Rooms are small compared to other SPG but has a beautiful style to it! May not the best place to stay if you want a business set up in your room! The staff were top notch! They even recommended places to visit and were extremely courteous! One of the best customer service! They have an open pantry in each floor with snacks, tea, coffee 24/7. One of the most affordable mini bars I have experienced! They have a cool and secure door service / access to your rooms! Overall memorable experience! Highly recommended!

Amazing hotel. Clean, friendly, modern, convenient, Nespresso machines in the room. Worst thing I can day is that the entrance doesn't tell you which way to reception once you walk in the front door. Take a left and you'll be very lost.

I booked The Great Northern Hotel last minute for a birthday surprise and for the convenient location to travel onwards the following day. I'd also done my homework and knew this was a well presented hotel. On arrival the staff were very polite, welcoming and attentive. We were also upgraded which made our stay even better. The room was beautifully furnished in walnut wooden panels that gave it a luxurious and warm feel. The bed was really comfortable and the room very quiet. A good quality TV and refreshments in the pantry also made a difference. A big thank you to the staff for making us feel so welcome for our stay.

The Great Northern is a great hotel. The location, adjacent to Kings Cross station, makes access to public transport very easy. The styling of the hotel gives a nod to the days of "classic" train travel, but with all the modern amenities you'd expect from a 21st century hotel. One of the most unusual, yet appealing, features is the presence of a pantry on each floor. This is open 24 hours a day, allowing you to help yourself to hot drinks and sweet treats whenever the need arises. The room itself was comfortable and quiet. As well as the pantry, the room also had a Nespresso machine just in case the trip down the corridor was too much first thing in the morning. The room service menu also surprisingly reasonable — a gin and tonic from room service in a hotel we'd stayed in the night before would have cost £8; at the Great Northern it cost only a much more palatable £3! Overall, I'd recommend the Great Northern. It's not a cheap stay, but that's reflected in the location and luxury in the hotel itself.

Rooms are small but well appointed, and the location makes getting everywhere I want to go only one train ride away.

Cute boutique hotel situated at King's Cross station. The rooms are cozy, but definitely not generic, as you can tell there are vintage elements showing the heritage of this old-time railway hotel. The front desk staff is very courteous. I would definitely stay here again!

Fantastic 5-Star Boutique Hotel. Stayed for a week, located across the street from St. Pancras International, with easy Eurostar destinations such as Paris, Brussels, Lille. Management and staff exceptionally professional and couldn't do enough for you. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and hope to one day return.

First class accommodation in a super convenient location. Fixtures and fittings are all second to none. Staff are efficient and extremely friendly. You get what you pay for and in this case its worth every penny. We will be back for business, pleasure and cocktails.

Poncy hotel bar affair. Avoid like the plague. Mainly because of the price and savage service charge.

Rating is based on a visit to the bar only where we had a couple of drinks and some nice bar food (a nice burger). Will go back to try some more from the menu.
