A random Sunday lunchtime visit. Excellent young man managing bar and tables solo. Welcoming, helpful and good sense of humour. Food is standard pub grub, reasonable prices adequate but not exciting. No tomato juice. Decor tired and dated, needs modernising. Gents toilets are old fashioned but clean. For over an hour the background music was overloud country and western music somehow adding sadness to the overall atmosphere. There is untapped potential here.

Stayed here for two nights, lovely bar staff and owners…. Had the burger and really enjoyed it. Really friendly and chatty and made us feel really welcome. The bar men, Mitch and Hayden make this pub!

Great rid eye steak at a great price. Wine was superb and the staff made you feel welcome 100%recommend.

Went for sunday lunch potatoes were not cooked properly, vegetables were hard. Very bland no taste. Food has gone down hill.

Stopped off for lunch on way to Weston-Super-Mare and found this pub to be very friendly. Food was great and the portions amazing. Great staff who were very friendly and polite. One of our party is coeliac and the barman couldn’t have been more helpful running to the kitchen to check that certain dishes were gluten free.
Definitely recommend this pub to all friends and family.

Popped in on the way home from a day at Longleat. Friendly staff and lovely fish and chips.

Popped in simply because we were hungry and hadn't passed anywhere else for quite some time. What a find. The bar maid was delightful. Food was quick and good value. If definitely so by again. It was very quiet, but we did drop by mid-week and mid-afternoon, so that wasn't a surprise!

Took my family from Cornwall there for a Sunday lunch. Very long wait, table was still dirty from someone elses meal. An abundance of flies as we were eating our meals, which were delivered to us after about an hour. Overpriced for what you get. It's such a shame as it was a good pub for meals. Waitress tried her best but she was on a loser.

Excellent pub, Excellent served and delicious food as always. Friendly beautiful staff. All the people here are beautiful inside and outside. I feel like my home when I came in, relaxing and peaceful.

Very nice lunch meal, good selection on menu and friendly attentive member of staff. The food was well cooked and presented nicely, I liked the simple meals and decent price tag. Deserts had a good selection and were very nice. All in all a good place to go for lunch, will return again as quite local to us. Lovely garden, cheerful relaxed atmosphere and Olde Worlde pub and restaurant combined with half a dozen chalet style rooms to rent. Very handy for Salisbury and surrounding areas like Stonehenge.

Stayed for 1 night, few niggles with room — although lovely and clean with comfy bed, the TV had no signal, bedside lamp had no plug socket to plug it into and the radio clock alarm didn't work on the radio bit. Apart from that we had a great breakfast, the setting is fantastic with a lovely garden and warm, friendly staff. Would stay again.

Lively place, really good honest food and lots of starting space inside and out. Friendly and hard-working staff and friendly, prompt service.

Nice bar staff, good pint. Is a little dated in it's decor and not isolated enough from the busy road and garages that it is next to.

I don't know how this pub keeps going as we were the only customers. However, the staff were pleasant and the fish and chips were lovely. We mentioned to the chef that the portion of mushy peas could have been larger, which wasn't well received.

Would have been 5 stars. Food was delicious, staff so friendly BUT cannot believe there was no coffee machine. Only instant coffee.

Got stranded here due to a car accident. Spent hours waiting with a nice and helpful staff. In the end they even managed to get a room ready for us at short notice cause we had to stay the night.

The men running the pub looked after my Son after he had come off his motorbike. They were extremely helpful and hospitable. I'm very grateful to them. We will return when the snow has gone!

Very nice experience bar staff were really friendly and the chef food was amazing.

We called in for a drink on a very cold night, well the pub was colder than it was outside. They had a wood burner that was not lit, apparently because they had no wood! Don’t you think it might be a good idea to get some so your customers don’t have to sit there in coats and scarves.

OK, nice and welcoming, however food lacked taste/seasoning for several of the dishes.

A good place to stop for a drink and a bite to eat after a long journey back from the west country.

Convenient roadside pub but suffers from road noise. Friendly welcome and quick service. Sandwiches recommended.

The landlady couldn't do enough for us. It was quite late when we arrived there but she kept the kitchen open for us so we ckuld get a meal and the room was good; unfortunately it was missing soap from the bathroom but apart from that it was great.

How easy is it to prepare Fish & Chips at 6pm. The pub was quiet, no more than 8 people in the place. The time for the 'meal' to be presented was not unreasonable but the quality was dier the fish was overcooked the chips were not bad but I have tasted better. On leaving the ladlady was advised of our thoughts and she then charges full price with the comment that she was very surprised. We will certainly not be visiting this pub again. The beer was fine but it was in a cask.

We stopped for a quick meal on the way home. Friendly service but early evening so quite quiet. Good food. Apparently the kitchen had a complete refurbishment a few months ago. Wet weather so did not go out in the garden.

Excellent roast dinner today, served quickly and reasonably priced. Lots of lovely tender beef, tasty gravy and loads of fresh veg. Highly recommended!

Food average and slow to arrive. Soft drink syrup rancid. Dead rat and dog poo in the children's playground. Believe under new management who clearly have quite a bit of work to do!

Under new management, staff are coping well with some barriers in their way but worth a visit. Food is good, can't complain and service was excellent. Lost a star as could have done with quicker service at the bar, but the staff behind the bar were doing their best — just not enough of them!

Been here for lunch today. Really lovely inside. Good was great, not many vege dishes, but made do. Really nice, professional staff.

Incredible food and really good service. Arrived a little late and the kitchen was closing but they still cooked us two Sunday roasts of exceptional quality. Lamb shank thoroughly recommended.

Great place for a pitstop. Nice lunch selection and choice of drinks. Relaxing environment, perfect for some respite.

The pelican inn was not that bad but the staff were going on fighting and the food was a little bad.

My partner and I had a fabulous meal on Monday evening at the Pelican, best steak ever and I have tried a few. Highly Recommended.

Stopped at the pelican inn on the way back from visiting family in north wilts. I looked at the roasts available on the board, I decided to have the roast chicken and my partner had roast beef it was the worst roast I've ever had. The vegetable boat consisted of 2 florets of cauliflower 2 stems of broccoli handful of peas and boiled beetroot on top of peas. The meat was cold and the 2 roast potatoes had been cooked several times by the look of them. Well over priced for the quantity and the quality. £9.50 ahead definitely fiddled. Don't recommend.

Had Sunday lunch on 11th Feb 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed the food. Was rather cold in the rstaurant side, even with the fire going. Would prefer to eat in the bar area next time and YES there will be a next time.

A great pub, restaurant and hotel. We stopped on the way home and had an utterly fantastic meal. Strongly recommend.

We stopped at the Pelican for a meal as we had been to Brighton for the day to see our daughter and was on our way home to Paulton (nr Bath) Well we had the 8 ozs Rump Steak on Special £14 for the 2, my partner had chips, I had new potatoes and we both had fresh veg, when our meal arrived, it was on a HOT plate, the veg was unbeliveable, 8 different ones even roasted beetroot, the Steaks were cooked how we wanted them both med/rare, the whole meal was EXCELLENT, I have cooked in a Pub, and to get Steaks cooked spot on show that you know what you are doing. They do a Sunday Roast and we intend to take my mum over, even if it is over 40 miles away from where she lives, it is so worth the trip, cant wait to take her.
