Just called as passing and we were hungry.
Glad we did as we had a lovely meal. Pleasant helpful staff. Will definitely stop there again if in area.

Amazing food, a great selection for vegetarians, and plenty of fish dishes too. The staff are extremely efficient and very friendly…. We will be back xxx.

Yes I would off recommended this pub as we have had previously had many meals here on different occasions before lock down and had amazing food specially the shepherd's pie… as our oven has broke we reflected on our delightful meals in the past, and thought try here thinking if the roast was as good as a Monday lunch shepherd's pie we would be quids in instead of quids out… we ordered one large beef and one large lamb, thinking as a couple we could share the meat and try both (we asked for no red cabbage). When being served this a one portion of a large roast beef and when being asked if everything was OK I questioned the sizing of the meal they confirmed it as a large we excepted it. Over the time of the meal we heard a couple complain about waiting over an hour for there food which is true as we ordered after them but getting our food before. When I brought up the issues when asking for the bill they asked my problems… not only did they not accept the other couple waiting, when asking about the size of the meal I asked if we had ordered a small would we of had a vegetarian dish? they replied they would talk to the cook.
a small roast is £8 large £12 they then relooked the bill and took £2 off our lunch. Not even taking it down to a small meal.
on the window sill next to us we even had magazines dated from November last year.

My wife and I stayed here after visiting stonehenge and we received a warm welcome on checking into this lovely old pub and restaurant. We were shown to our room which was compact but nice and airy. We had the use of the shared bathroom and kitchen facilities which was well stocked with coffee and tea making facilities and cereals and bread and preserves for the incuded breakfast. The pub has a lovely beer garden where you could spend all day soaking in the atmosphere in fact it was so good we decided to have our evening meal out there that we had booked for the restaurant to which was no trouble to the staff to change for us. My wife and I ordered the fishcakes and the fish and chips respectively and all. I can say is it was absolutely beautifully cooked to perfection so much so that I cleared my plate and wasn't even that hungry :) and was washed down with a pint of one of the several real ale 's they have in sale and was very nice. So all in all if you don't mind sharing the bathroom facilities or kitchen for just a cereal and toast breakfast I would strongly recommend this lovely b &b which is set in a lovely little village with friendly locals and the staff will do anything they can to make your stay more enjoyable. Thanks will defo stay again :)

Lovely cosy welcoming village pub. We stayed the night in clean, comfortable rooms with a self service breakfast.

Amazing food service was great but the waiters kept asking if we wanted a refill every few minutes.

Pleasent idillyic quiet, staff polite friendly nice helpful, customers friendly inviting, prices exceptable except price of wine lol not joking! Slept well.

Nice beer garden out the back. Service varied, one really good and considerate staff member and another who when he brought out drinks spilt them over the table with no attempt to apologise or clear them up. Also the food must have taken an hour or so to come from order to the point where we had to go and prompt them at the bar. Otherwise, it was very pleasant. I had the quorn and bean chilli which was delicious. Everyone else was pleased with their food too. Recommend.

Went as a group of 8. Went on a Sunday. Most of the group had roast beef, one had the nut roast, one had the cowboy burger and I had rump steak. Nut roast was a bit hard and some yorkshires a bit overdone. I asked for my steak rare and received medium. Maybe medium to rare if beng generous. Cosboy burger was excellent, great beef burger and lovely pulled pork. Puddings. Treacle had large portions… creme brulee was not done enough on top and I asked for a flat white with it… the coffee was cold. Friendly staff through and a lovely looking pub. Be careful in and out of the toilets as there are a couple of steps…

Food is great, and staff are excellent. Prices too are very reasonable, especially when the food is so good. Only slight is would be parking, while there is parking out tje vack it is very small and gets full quickly. Arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Visited on Sunday for lunch. Service was a little slow but my lamb was utterly delicious. Cooked to perfection one of the nicest lamb roasts I've ever had. However some of the party had beef which was rather chewy and undercooked. Should've had the lamb!

What a lovely little pub, good service and good food. It is a little hidden but it is what makes this pub so excellent.

Very comfortable. It's a make your own breakfast place (toast and cereal etc) but that suited us.

Great place for food and conversation, they've a garden too (dog friendly as well) whether its a full on dinner or Sunday lunch… maybe even a quick pint & snack — they are spot on & have a friendly service (even my veggie mate was happy with the choice on offer)

Although the menu is quite limited the food was absolutely first class and I've no hesitation in going again the next time we're in the area.

Lovely setting, interior was kind of dated. Grease dripping off the burger that I had ordered and the bun was clearly microwaved judging by how solid the bottom was. Family enjoyed the meal however so it was a nice lunch out.

Deceiving, the outside doesn't do it justice. Really welcoming pub. We sat in the gardens (which are pretty and well maintained) as the sun shone and we had dogs with us. We ordered the ploughmans which was filing with some tasty pickles. The staff were helpful and friendly and the choice for food was very impressive, choice of large or small plates on most dishes.

This place really surprised us because from outside it isn't the best looking pub around this area but we went inside it was clean the staff were all friendly as well as a few of the locals we booked a table for two for later on in the evening we had a drink and left
We returned at 7pm we were taken to our table and asked if we would like any drinks they were really quick with them which is great then the waitress took our orders which came really quickly aswell the food was presented really well and it tasted really good. So I say
" Don't always judge a book by its cover " Because you will be pleasantly surprised.
