Me and grandson come for afternoon tea today. Just wanted to say how fabulous it was lovely and so much we brought a goody bag home many thanks.

Enjoyed my stay (as a couple). Good location (and ambience) and ideal as a base for sight seeing.

Loved the relaxed atmosphere here. Friendly service. Really made us feel welcome thank you x.

When we arrived, we discovered that we were not on the list of expected guests on the day. We were found a room eventually as we had paperwork to prove the booking. The "superior" room we booked for was from the 70s with ageing decor and furniture. The handle of the wardrobe was missing, the shaving light in the bathroom didn't work, nor did the extractor fan. We should have received a bottle of wine on arrival, as part of the package, but didn't until we asked for it, as well as dressing gowns supposed to be in all superior rooms until we asked for them, the policy seems to be don't give, unless asked for. The full English breakfast didn't come with baked beans, on the first morning, on the second, I specifically asked for them. I was then told that they had none the previous morning, hence not being served, but no one told us. However, their sandwiches were nicely filled and the chips chunky and cooked well. Good for one night for tired travellers and anyone prepared to keep a blind eye.

Absolutely wonderful food. Great service. Lovely staff. Very happy. We are repeat customers and have just booked to come back. Would highly recommend.

It's a nice place to stay with a decent little pub. Amenities are all cab ride away so plan on bringing cash as very few cabs take credit card and the hotel does not offer shuttle services. The price is low so this helps set expectations.

The hotel is nice and clean. I especially like its location in the middle of a green park. It is very quiet at night you can sleep with the windows open. The only disadvantage I experienced was the water pressure of the shower. It hardly was enough to shower yourself.

Very nice place, staff are very helpful, friendly. Breakfast was excellent, well cooked with only the best ingredients. Would definitely stay again.

Stunning meals breakfast very nice as well. Room 26 was fab but ceiling needs sound proofing. Beds could be much better quality. Our backs was so painful as bed gave poor support. L.

Decent hotel. Spacious rooms. Value for Money. If staying here then you must eat at 'The Potting Shed' which is at walking distance.

This hotel looks lovely, comfortable rooms and high quality food. However do NOT be fooled. I worked here very recently… The way the manager treats her employees is disgusting. One occasion everyone is working hard, rushing around for Sunday lunch. Manager walks through to the kitchen, speaking to another manager saying that the waiters and waitresses don't work hard hard enough and literally degrading us right in front of us like we weren't there. Another occasion, while hoovering, the plug was sparking and going up on smoke, running to tell the owner, he said just use it, even after explaining how uncomfortable I felt using it. These people are disgusting and use their position to abuse their employees. Working with a certain manager who still works there to this day, made me feel high uncomfortable working with her, she degrades her waiters and waitresses in front of residents staying at the hotel, has a vile attitude. Owners are literally dulusional. A certain chef at the mayfield, screams and shouts constantly. Honestly not a good place to work unless they have new owners and management.

Decor a little tired in places. Overall the hotel was clean and warm. Staff were efficient and friendly. Food was good, but as in many hotels quite expensive as were the drinks. There is a good pub just down the road which does good bar snacks.

We had a wonderful Christmas here. Great staff and excellent food, beautiful location.

Arrived late, freezing cold night, knackered, friendly welcome. Shown to room, ran bath, room was fine, comfy bed, got in bath, phone rang bath leaking into kitchen, gutted. Changed to another room lots of apologies no problem. No bath, gutted x2. Would return.

Fantastic stay at Mayfield House. Staff amazingly friendly & helpful. Nothing too much trouble & us 2 humans & our 2 dawgies were made extremely welcome. Would definitely return.

Life saver! My wife was at a wedding and I decided to stay nearby and take our 4 month baby out for the day. I loved the idea, our baby did not. After a trying day I stopped off here at 5:30 and even though the restaurant didn't open till 6 I was offered tea, a quite place to get my baby to sleep and even offered food early. This to me represents true service at its best. On top of that the burger was delicious! £12 but plenty of bacon, cheese and pickle, chips where we'll cooked too! I enjoyed it so much I decided to try out the chocolate and black cherry trifle, it did not disappoint! Easily a five star!

Fantastic location, lovely hotel and appreciating the property's age it was very clean, very comfortable and full of character. The breakfasts were of a very high standard and the evening meals were delicious. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Good off road parking and lovely grounds.

This is a relatively small but extremely well run, hotel with friendly, helpful staff. It has no lift but contact with the hotel at time of booking will be met with a helpful approach to try to ensure ground floor accommodation. Rooms are comfortable and the food in the restaurant, both at dinner and breakfast is very good. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone considering a break in the Cotswolds.

Although the room could do with some updating it was clean and had everything that you would need for a stay, also the restaurant was very good quality and had a nice selection and the same can be said for breakfast. All in all a very nice stay.

Great staff, comfortable room and bed, breakfast excellent. The shower was disappointing.

Service was great! Very pleased with the location as a centre for enjoying this beautiful area. The accommodation was clean, spacious, comfortable and had character, the food was tasty with an interesting menu. Parking was good. We paid via Groupon vouchers which made our stay excellent value. Criticisms are the high price of drinks at the bar and the signs of tiredness in the property — showers not working smoothly, split floor covering in one bathroom, and a sticking door lock for example, though nothing awful. Would we stay here again? Definitely yes.

Only stayed for one night. Didn't have breakfast. Lots of noise in the morning. Shower wasn't very good. Room was very comfy though.

Clean and tidy room. Pleasant, friendly staff and happy to cook me a bar meal late in the evening after I arrived after long drive.

Excellent hotel that is the most genuinely dog friendly I have stayed in. Staff go out of their way to accommodate you and your dog. Good food and special area where you can sit with your dog to have dinner and breakfast. Rooms very comfortable and overall an excellent experience.

Very welcoming atmosphere had been upgraded to a superior room overlooking the garden which was comfortable with good facilities. Dining room staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and good value. We greatly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend if staying in the area.

Nice people, awesome food. Beds not the best and could hear people talking in rooms next door but was still early. Good nights sleep overall.

We've now been to this hotel about 4 times, we originally went with the whole family ranging from 17 to 80+ and 3 dogs. We felt at home almost immediately, the staff were helpful, friendly & corteous. Some of the group were a bit awkward but the staff coped. We have been in 3 different "doggy rooms" and all were clean & comfortable. The meals were a bit up-market for our everyday tastes but we've tried everything on the menu & enjoyed it, occasionally requesting maybe a different veg which has been changed by the staff with no hastle, hence, why we return time & time, we feel at home & the dogs love it, being totally spoilt by one & all.

Only a short drive from Cotswold Airport (Kemble). Excellent menu in the restaurant with service to match. Rooms are of traditional hotel style. Comfort and standards very high.

My wife and I stayed at the above hotel as part of the Cotswold Gardens Tour package offered by Brightwater Holiday Co. We stayed for 3 nights from Tuesday to Friday. We were so pleased with the facilities and treatment by staff that we have decided to go there again some time. The room was spotlessly clean and spacious, including the bathroom. We found the staff very courteous and friendly. The food was delicious with plenty of choice and variety. We would not hesitate to recommend this place to our friends.

Our room was very comfortable and contemporary, there is a really relaxed atmosphere created by very helpful staff. The food exceeded our expectations. However some furnishings and decor in the bar and restaurant do need replacing.
