We like the deep window sills throughout the building and the large en suite bathrooms. Bedroom fine, large comfy bed. Tasty food on a varied menu and a good wine list. Staff always friendly and welcoming. Breakfast kept us going all day. We shall definitely stay again, perhaps in the summer months when we can enjoy the extensive garden.

Fantastic pub, lovely staff, food was delicious.

Dropped by without booking for Sunday lunch yesterday and was lucky to be accommodated. The food was delicious, we all had the roast sirloin and great selection of vegetables. The service was excellent, friendly staff, we will definitely be visiting again.

Not for a Sunday roast. The pub is beautiful and the garden lovely, the food was nice but we booked a table on a Sunday after seeing the £16 roasts on the website, and I was so looking forward to a roast without having to be the chef for once. Well it seems they don’t exist, there was a roast beef of sorts on the menu but nothing else, when we asked about the Sunday menu they asked me to show them where I had seen it and told me I was wrong. What pub doesn’t do a roast on a Sunday?!? Sadly I don’t eat beef so ended up with a chicken and chips gutted. We will definitely be back but for a drink in the sunny garden and not the food.

I cannot sing enough praises for this wonderfully welcoming place. All the staff were so welcoming and what I thought would be a stressful stay with our 6 month puppy for his 1st night away. Was such a lovely break. Charlie was so spoilt by all the staff and the friendly locals. Wish we stayed for longer. But we will certainly be coming back. Food was amazing and cosy atmosphere. We love this place. Thank you everyone for such a great memory 🐾

The most dog-friendly place we have ever stayed. Room came complete with dog bowl, treats, blanket and feeding mat. Thank you to everyone who made us feel so welcome and relaxed this was such a treat.

What a great find. Called out of the blue as we were passing and the car park was pretty busy. Found us a table, very warm welcome. Attentive service and fantastic food. We both chose meals we wouldn't usually go for, ie no steak not a burger. Well let me tell you the baked hake was sublime and hubby's chargrilled duck breast was devine! Thank you to the lovely team there. 👍👏

Superb pub, we visited here in 2018 & had a lovely meal & again this evening & it is still wonderful! Super friendly staff & resident dog! Lovely food, large selection of drinks & dogs everywhere! My kind of thing place!

Stopping off for refreshment after a 15k circular trek around the local area, we ordered cider and took our seats in the handsome garden. Three farmers sat at adjacent table discussing local news, land prices and the maintenance of combine harvesters (quite delightful). Great place for an evening pint or to grab some tasty looking bar food.

Dropped in on this lovely old inn on the off chance. Good value lunch menu, food and service good. Will definitely go again.

Long Lunch: Front of house was a bit abrupt. They improved after a while. Bread was a little dry. Asparagus starter was excellent, need a little more practice on poached eggs. Plaice was excellent, vegetable a little to al dente for me. Dessert was excellent a crumble with custard. Wines were a good selection.

One of the prettiest and most spacious pub gardens you're likely to find. The deck chairs are a welcome touch too.

My wife and I stopped here for lunch. It was spectacular. The food was freshly made and well cooked. We would definitely recommend it as a place to stop if you are in the area. You will receive a warm welcomed with friendly staff and very good food.

Amazing pub. Family and dog friendly. Phenomenal food, environment and staff at the top of their game. Great selection of food and drink including local produce. Nice playground for kids. Log burners inside for a lovely cozy atmosphere on a rainy day. We’ll absolutely be paying many more visits in the future. Highly recommended!

Fabulous Sunday lunch beef to die for great staff with a wonderful sense of humour thank you my friend said best Sunday lunch she had eaten for ages.

Best Sunday roast ever! The beef was sensational, spuds delicious, Yorkshire pud was better than mine (and I don't say that often), veg perfectly cooked and the cheesecake was brilliant too.

The Red Lion at LONG Compton (there's another pub with the same name at LITTLE Compton) is a wonderful all-round Inn. The first thing you notice is the warm welcome and friendliness of the staff. In the Winter the pub is cosy on the inside with a proper fire in the bar. In Summer there's a lovely big garden with shady places to eat lunch or enjoy a drink with the family. The food is, in my experience, consistently good and there is a 'Specials' menu that changes daily. Well behaved children are welcome. It isn't compulsory to bring a dog when you visit but they're always made particularly welcome and the chef's baked pigs ears are a special treat that they love.

We had a light lunch from the 2-courses-for-£15 menu. Value is good. Standard of catering is excellent. Service is very good, if a trifle slow as lunchtime got busier. However, I would recommend this pub/restaurant to anyone wanting good food, cheerful and willing service and value for money. And an excellent pint of Hooky always goes down well!

Wonderful food, great service, immaculate rooms and a beautiful location. Can't ask for much more really! The staff are friendly, attentive and can't do enough for you. Lots of gorgeous dogs to pet, a great gin selection and interesting, well-chosen wine list, to boot. Will be returning and recommending this place to everyone! Little touches like offering you fresh milk in your room and homemade biscuits instead of the usual packets make all the difference. Molton Brown products in all the rooms and free (fast) Wi-Fi… I could go on!

My favourite, and by far the best pub in Warwickshire. The Hooky Pie is a must!

Been loads, is always a pleasure to be greeted by Lisa and Co and only the lucky ones get a fond wag from Madame Coco's Choc Lab tail. Ridiculously dog friendly, menu always delights the senses. Stopped here after a 11 mile walk around long compton area. Parked the car in the pub car park and walked from there. We arrived back around 2pm and it was a sunny day so we where worried it was going to be to busy to get a table but the garden was huge! With plenty of seating and some funky deck chairs. Me and wife both had the beef Sunday lunch which was divine. We will defiantly return here next time we are in the area. Also a dog friendly pub.

My wife and I came to the Red Lion with my grandparents, who are regular diners. The staff are exceptionally friendly and accommodating of us every time we visit. This, combined with a beautifully designed menu and a gorgeous location in the heart of the English countryside make the Red Lion perfect.

Stopped for a sandwich (absolutely scrumptious) and couple pints of 'hummingbird' ale (which were divine) after a walk around wychwood (beautiful). Food, drink, staff and service 10/10. Will definitely recommend and will be visiting again!

Friendly Inn with very good food and surroundings. Menu dosent offer enough choice for vegetarians, in my opinion. In general the menu changes four times a year to make best of seasonal produce, but can still be a repeat of the previous year. Shame as we would dine more often.

What a lovely pub. Idyllic cotswold surroundings, excellent service complimenting superb food. Try the fish and chips — probably the best chips I have ever tasted combined with perfectly cooked fish.

Todmarten pork chop, chips, veg (broccoli, courgette, carrot) all beautifully cooked. A pint of Purity Gold Iced Lemon water just appeared on the table… with rustic bread and oil/balsamic Perfect! Flavours full and real, not salted or hidden, rich sweet carroty roots, verdant florets, sweet slices, dipped into gravy with perfect balance of grain mustard apple and meat juices, pork browned and tender, chips drily crisp and fluffy inside, lightly salted. And the place is very dog friendly! Mmmm, fantastic!
