Nice location, but average pub. Typical pub grub food. Lasagne was decent enough. The vinegar was gross with blobby stuff floating in it.

We visited this pub on a Friday evening with a couple of friends. I had a pint of St. Austell Tribute ale, that was very good. As a CAMRA member, I like to try different ales, so then ordered a pint of Adnams Broadside, which was well below standard. I returned the pint, pointing out that it didn't taste how it should, but was told that it was from a new barrel that had been put on earlier that day. I asked to have a pint of Tribute in place of the Broadside, whereby I was told I would have to pay again. Reluctantly, the manager agreed to replace it free of charge. This was not a good customer experience… Shortly afterwards, the manager told us he was closing-up in ten minutes, that would be at 10:45 — on a Friday night! No wonder we were the only 3 customers in the pub! It's a pity, as we have visited this pub for many year without a problem.

Really poor. Spoiled my birthday dinner. Rang the day before to check there were vegan options for twp of our five people, and was told there were several as well as the main menu for the rest of us. When we turned up we were told there was only the very limited Sunday menu and actually there were no vegan options. The really worrying thing was none of the staff understood what vegan meant and the chef did not come out to talk to us or offer any alternatives — they could not even cook us a few mushrooms in place of the 'pre-prepared' breaded mushrooms (which suggests everything is cooked from frozen) — really poor customer service about this. The roast dinners the rest of us had were ok but really not good. Shame as its a nice venue in a nice location and used to be a good restaurant. I would not recommend for food and I won't be going back due to poor response and lack of customer service.

We went for lunch on Saturday. Food was very hot and perfect. I would recommend but I didn't stay so can't comment on the rooms.

Very nice bar and restaurant. Accommodation is reasonable however connecting door was not sound proof and could hear my neighbours choice of "movie" clearly…

Absolutely terrible place to eat, drink and sleep! Spent a couple of nights here recently and I swear to Christ, never again. No access until 3pm to the pub.
Pub / restaurant was empty and reserved seating signs on many tables!
Apparently they we’re expecting people both night but never turned up! Got the impression it was for their “regular” ghost who drops by occasionally. Restaurant hours very restricted yes 6-8pm normally. However the evening we were there we were told it was opening between 5-7 to facilitate the chef to go home early to watch a Liverpool match. Will never return nor recommend.

Went to surprise a friend for her birthday with an afternoon tea. Staff were really friendly and helpful, good selection of sandwiches and cakes, but not presented in a traditional afternoon tea way — but we all enjoyed it and would recommend.

Great pint of Abbott Ale, really good pub quiz on the last Wednesday of each month.

Great three course Christmas Dinner in a very pleasant environment and friendly staff. Traditional pub with open fire and lots of nooks and crannies. Easy parking make this well worth a look.

It has decent accommodation but varied times at which meals are available. Be prepared to take the short walk down the road to the Malt Shovel which serves good meals until 9pm each night except Sundays, if you strike unlucky.

For a place I just booked for a kip before an interview it turned out to be a fab little place. The staff were so friendly and went above and beyond. The food was so tasty. They were really vigilant about allergy requests too, which is rare. The room was really spacious but the bed was cosy and comfy. The price was brilliantly low for the quality of service.

Quite a pleasant pub to stop for a drink. They do food until 10pm and it looked quite nice although I didn't partake. Plenty of widescreen TVs and sports on as well. All in all 4 stars.

Food took ages when it came out could tell it was from a packet, thought it was cheap but for the quality was ridiculous, bad atmosphere just not worth a visit at all.

After having a fabulous meal there I raved about it to my friends who live in rugby so this was half way.

The room was clean but basic. It was cold, no heating. There wasn't any extra bedding ie a blanket to use so the night was an uncomfortable one. I asked from what time breakfast would be served, I was told it would be served at 9am, and that was it, no from or to time. As we were leaving earlier than that, we had the princely sum of £2.50 deducted for the two of us each from our final bill for not having breakfast. The fan stayed on in the bathroom, so we had to find the junction box and turn the electric off in order to get some sleep in the cold room. The landlord was not very friendly, a take it or leave it attitude, not very up on his customer service skills. There must be somewhere better to stay in the area than there. I would not recommend it. It was too expensive for such basic accommodation and service.

Never had such an unpleasant experience! Z bed instead of single bed, (not informed when booking). Smelly shower curtain. Mouldy bread at breakfast. Wedding party booked in for Saturday night (not informed when booking) or at any time leading up to stay. No food on Saturday night, noise finally stopped at 1am. Staff immediately became very unpleasant when we suggested we wanted a reduction and not pay the full price. They threatened to send for the police. No apology, or negotiation on their part whatsoever. Would not recommend this establishment to anyone!

Chalet style accomodation in car park at rear of Inn. Very friendly Landlord and his family. Reasonably priced food in restaurant. Cosy atmosphere. The walls in the accomodation are rather thin therefore people can be heard in the adjacent rooms which could be a problem, but it did not bother us. Plenty of Hot Water. Very clean beds and towels changed daily. Would recommend a stay here.
