Beautiful food, in a beautiful location. The landlord is so accommodating and really friendly. Even had treats for our dog Stan…. Even though Stan still thought it was ok to bark! Thank you for a lovely evening.

We spent 2 nights at your hotel. And had a great time. Lovely clean rooms. Liked the little touches like small bottles of Baileys in the room. We didn’t get the name of the lady who served us breakfast both mornings but I think she deserves a special recognition. So helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.

A lovely, relaxing experience — high quality accommodation, a comfortable sitting room for residents and superb restaurant food. Staff could not have been more helpful and welcoming including entertaining my large dog!

We just bought a takeaway for Valentines Day and the food was absolutely fantastic. Lamb shank and the pie. Brilliant food, and super easy to order and pickup. We will be ordering again from here soon! Thank you so much.

Lovely pub great people always so friendly and really working hard to make the best of things during Covid, very safe when open and good takeaway when not allowed to open.
100% recommended the burgers and love the Smokery.

Went for a birthday celebration. Room rate was £159 and the room was dirty, shabby and what was more surprising it had a fire exit route through it for other guests! Is that even legal. Photos on line look lovely the room we were allocated wasn’t. The manager had to speak to the owner who refused to speak to us direct and we were told take it or leave it. We left it and stayed at the old stocks in Stow which was amazing and in another league for presentation and service. Think before you book.

Lovely quirky room, very friendly staff. Had a nice meal in the evening and the choice of breakfast was great. Would stay here again.

Thanks to all at The Horse & Groom for giving the N. E. W Cotswold Hashers such a warm welcome today. All staff were friendly and all of us had a great time during our visit. Some of us stayed to sample the Sunday lunch and were treated to superb food and service.
This is obviously a place on the up and money is being spent to improve the customer experience. I look forward to sampling the great hospitality again. Phil Spatcher.

Stopped here for a breather while on a walk from Stow. They were only just opening but very friendly and helpful. We sat outside and had our drinks. The pub looked lovely inside. Most likely a gastro pub. Still, it provided the pit stop we needed. Great.

Lovely food. Enjoy having a meal here when visiting the Cotswolds. Staff were fantastic and so caring today when one party member felt unwell. Can thoroughly recommend.

Absolutely delightful village pub with first rate food and decent beer. Good range of wine by the glass. Nice breakfasts as well with wonderful home made marmalade. The rooms are very well equipped and clean with lovely beds. We were in number 2 with is small but fine for a night or two. Highly recommended as a place to stay and close to many Cotswold sites.

My wife & I tried three different main course dishes and a made-to-order dish over two nights here, and we more than satisfied with every aspect of our meals. One evening I didn't feel like the menu offerings and asked (it wasn't a very busy night), if the chef could make a dish that I described (I recited the recipe in some detail, ha-ha). Our server checked with the chef and came back with a "yes". It arrived on a timely basis, completely met my expectations, and the charge for this custom effort was appropriate, no more than a listed menu item. This was one of the best dining experiences we had during our three week UK trip in May 2018. I'd go out of my way to dine here again. (We didn't lodge here, nor partake much of the spirits, although my wife had a few nice wines, so I can't comment on those aspects of The Horse & Groom. )

Wonderful Pub! Good ales on the tap. I was totally surprised to see a German lager on the tap. Food was excellent too.

Called in on our way home from Cambridgeshire to North Somerset, we were warmly greeted served immediately, enjoyed a light supper of delicious home made tomato soup. We were very tempted to book in for the night as we had endured a lousy drive due to motorway closures, but didn’t…

Thank you to Lee and all the staff at the Horse and Groom who looked after us when we were stranded due to the snow at the weekend. We had a fantastic stay, amazing food and a very cozy atmosphere. You turned a nightmare situation into a treat! Truly an exceptional country pub!

Pub and Restaurant: The food and drink is absolutely fantastic, this is a must place to visit if you like high quality food and excellent service. I see some people say it is pricey but given the location, professional service, and the beautiful interior, I find the prices about spot on. What a lovely open fire they have too! 5 out of 5! Accommodation: Unfortunately I can't rave about the rooms. We stayed in room 3 which was freezing cold when we arrived. The bed almost completely fills the room and the bathroom is tiny. The walls and ceiling need some fresh paint and TLC. It didn't ruin our stay at all, we were just fine. However paying £140 a night for that room felt too much. 2.5 out of 5, the other rooms may have been better but I can't comment. Overall a lovely stay and I will happily return again in the future. The staff are highly professional and very welcoming. We'll be back!

We tried this place out as we had a Deal Zippy offer. The offer was for 3 courses, we were absolutely delighted as we had a lovely friendly welcome from the charming young man behind the bar. He brought us menu's and explained everything beautifully. Our food arrived promptly, we had Leek & Potato Soup with Smoked Haddock, served with fresh bread. We were a little apprehensive as we have never had his type of Soup with Haddock before, but it was very tasty indeed. Our main course arrived which was Cod Lion with new Potatoes & Peas, which was crushed with Cos Lettuce, again we had never had this combination, it was absolutely delicious and would definately recommend to anyone. Our last course was Chocolate Brownie with a Caramel Sauce and Clotted Cream, I can honestly say from when we stepped into the Horse & Groom till the time we left everything was faultless. We asked the lovely waitresses, how the main course was done, and she was very helpful indeed. I would love them to do more online deals, as Deal Zippy represented excellent value for money. Well done to everyone, it is nice to try somewhere local, and we will definitely be back.

Awesome service, excellent food, great location, if you enjoy a good ramble this is the ideal place to start from, some delightful villages of the beaten track. You'll really find it hard to beat this place.

Great country Inn with a good choice of local beers, the staff are polite and efficient and the setting is perfect. I cannot comment on the rooms because I was staying down the road. But I went there frequently.

Our meal was unbelievable. Everything cooked beautifully. Fully recommend the mushroom starter and the home made onion chutney with the pate was amazing. The presentation of the meal was beautiful. The staff are lovely and helpful.

Lovely bar, but steak tasted like an old boot!

Went to this pub today: we waited over an hour for our meal despite it being only one course — e. G. I ordered only a bowl of soup — and the pub being only half full. We had two small children at the table so this was particularly inconsiderate. We asked three times but to no avail and no one came to offer an explanation or apology. I also reported a wet floor in the bathroom and no attempt was made to clear it (there was still a puddle there when we left where someone could easily slip. I had to warn an elderly lady myself. ) Very poor.

We were staying in Broadwell and have a couple of dogs. Looking for dog friendly pubs in the Cotswolds isn't too difficult, but we also like a good feed and The Horse & Groom (newly renovated) didn't let us down. We went for the lunch service on our triangle walk through Stow, back to Broadwell. My wife had the calamari & I had the salmon starter. Both were so good, we were actually being protective of sharing haha! Mains were over in a blink of an eye. I had the chicken & my wife had the special of the day, Bream fillet. Both, amazing. Having eaten in some of the UK's best restaurants, without doubt, that this gem tucked away in back country village is easily in my Top 5. I wasn't expecting restaurant service as we were in the bar area due to the dogs, but the service is really, really good. Attentive when they needed to be. Patrons wise, it is a mix as a most were walkers passing through. Keep up the good work, sure to visit again when we are back in the area.

We arrived on Friday and was greeted by Simon the owner. Such a genuine, warm and friendly greeting that says so much about this place that he runs. The rooms are lovely, well appointed and in-keeping with the traditional decor that this 16th Century building deserves. We had two evening meals here, Friday evening and Saturday evening. The food was 'perfect! ' I had the sausages & mash and my wife had the Lamb. Both were so tasty!. We both went for the 'sticky toffee pudding' for dessert and it was divine! For Saturday evening, we both had the sirloin steaks. I can honestly say, we both agreed that these are the best steaks we have ever tasted! … So tender, juicy and full of flavour… It was a meal that we really didn't want to end! The breakfasts are also quite something!. 'Spotted Pork' sausages and 'dry cured' bacon eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms, followed by toast and fresh coffee! A perfect start to any day! All the food is locally sourced from local farms and butchers. This makes a real difference as Simon obviously knows exactly what he is getting and ensures his guests receive the very best. The pub is lovely. Full of friendly locals and has a warm atmosphere that makes you want to come back… often! We can't recommend or praise this place highly enough!. Simon has a lovely establishment with friendly staff and great chefs!. We will definitely be going back soon! Visited September 2016
