Had the most delicious Sunday roast dinner at The Talkhouse.
Have eaten at many pubs but this is by far the best.

Lovely little staycation super comfty bed massive lovely showers and cozy rooms, lovely welcoming staff, dog friendly, fab food (dinner and breakfast) couldn’t fault it we look forward to returning ❤️ thank you! 🙏

We visited for an evenings stay and dinner whilst visiting our daughter in Oxford. The food was out of this world, and the staff were lovely and very attentive. We couldn't leave without having breakfast after such a fabulous dinner, and this didn't disappoint, compliments to the chef. Very dog friendly also, thank you, we will be back.

Lovely food, friendly staff, comfortable accommodation and nice peaceful setting.

Had a lovely lunch with a good friend.
We had prawns for starters and mains were duck and fish…. They were delicious and was it was hard to choose from the extensive menu.
They had a Gin Menu too! So many lovely Gins and had one I haven’t tasted before!
All the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful.
I would recommend to everyone.

Absolutely amazing meal tonight, The bar staff and the manger were absolutely wonderful had amazing knowledge of the food and products that they were serving! Could not fault it one bit! Definitely going back there!

The Food is amazing, went there a couple of days ago and certainly wasn't disappointed, happily go again.

We had a lovely meal at The Talkhouse. The food was absolutely incredible! Great atmosphere where all social distancing rules were followed, making us feel very safe and welcome. We will definitely be coming back!

Lovely garden which is easy to social distance and nice friendly staff. Definitely go back again and maybe have something to eat. Thanks for opening up again.

Our 1st Meal Out since Boris allowed Pubs/Restaurants to re open and very nice it was too.

My partner and I visited on a Sunday for lunch and cannot recommend their roasts enough. The service and food was great — we couldn't fault anything. It was great to finally find somewhere that provides a yummy roast! Out of all of the pubs in Oxfordshire this is by far one of the best pubs based on quality and price. We'll be visiting again soon!

Wow this place is a little gem. Lovely looking rooms and en-suites. Amazing venue and can’t wait to see it in the summer for the view. Food is to die for and the staff are so welcoming. Can’t wait to see this place again. X.

Visited a couple of weeks ago and it was lovely, went back Saturday with friends and it was disappointing food not the best and one dessert didn’t arrive because the person who knows how to make it had stepped out?
Felt so bad as we live locally and told our friends who paid it was great.

Good food, well kept beer, comfy rooms and very friendly staff,, will stay again.

I checked in tonight and I was made very welcome, lovely pub, great beer and food.
I’ll be back again very soon.

The worst menu I have seen in recent memory — dont bother — go to McDonalds.

I was shocked by the service. It was not busy but it took an hour for food to come — with no apology. There was a long wait between the first of 8 plates being served and the last. The roast pork lunch was nice, the children's macaroni cheese was obviously microwaved and had no garnish what so ever — disappointing for the price. Slow service led to us not even bothering with dessert, paying was also an issue as staff seemed unsure of roles and left mid serving to do something else. If the overall service and quality of food was as good as the roast, I may have returned but I am afraid that I am left disappointed — picturesque pub but needs more attention to customer care.

Extremely comfortable atmosphere, with the nicest staff you could wish to meet.

Great to see the Talkhouse re-open last night, a very pleasant evening!

My friend and I stopped by at The Talkhouse today on the off chance. Initially just for a hot drink but then decided to have a light lunch.
We’d highly recommend it, lovely food, very good service and all in a cozy atmosphere.
We will definitely be back.

Had such a lovely lunch here! The pub was a quaint beautiful stone barn in the countryside of Oxfordshire, we stopped for lunch on our way from London to Wales and enjoyed food to a high standard of a bistro restaurant! We highly recommend and the staff were lovely. There is also a gorgeous garden with countryside views.

I'm not one to complain but I feel the need to make other possible families, arranging a wake for there love ones, to make sure they are aware of what to expect if they use these facilities. Prior to our funeral wake we were advised to consider The Talk House. The premises were close to the crematorium and good reviews on the quality of the food. The family visited the premises and decided to book the facilities for the wake. The prices per head for the hot Buffett seemed a bit expenses but their reviews and reputation swayed the families decision to agree to book the facilities and pay for an additional hour just in case the services at the church and crematorium run over time. Coffee on arrival and flowers on the tables seemed to set a nice start to the wake. The family allowed for more food per head than the people expected to attend just in case more people attended. When the hot Buffett was eventually presented I didn't say anything but thought two plates of bought samosas and bought sausage rolls, sandwiches, mini cakes didn't look very appetising and the cost of £11 per head seemed disgraceful. The amount of food was questioned and the staff said they would replenish the food as it disappeared. Again we were celebrating the life of a love one and didn't want to make a fuss but we sensed the guests were reluctant to eat much either because of what it was or because they were concerned about the amount of food that was laid out on the table for the guests.

Cosy and atmospheric country pub with superb service. Beer on tap and delicious food. In house cartoonist is unique.

We held my fathers wake in the Talkhouse there was a warm welcome for everyone withe tea or coffee as we went in. The delicious buffet was plentiful. The staff were all helpful to all our needs and very friendly. Thankyou to all at The Talkhouse.

A lovely venue that is accomodating and friendly as they come. Have been here on two separate occasions were they have hosted a wake for our family. Obviously a sensitive time for our family and yet provided food and drinks to keep our spirits up and decorated on our behalf with various photo's. The staff are knowledgeable of what they sell and are also sell their own Oxford gin which was very tasty indeed. A lovely location, granted in the middle of nowhere but with parking opposite it doesn't matter. Inside it's always cosy and inviting and the finger food they supplied was lovely, although I haven't had a meal there. If I was local I would definitely make this a regular place.

We had a meal on valentines day there. The staff were really friendly. Service was excellent and the food was amazing. We will be going back again for sure.

First time I've been. Friendly staff, was a bit of a squeeze to get through front doors with wheel chair but someone very quickly helped with doors.

Been a couple of times, once with a very large party and again with a small group, food has always been good.

Food was extremely good. Service was good once we got there but pretty poor in terms of the booking process — we were booking for a party of 18 and were misinformed and messed about several times in terms of preordering food and what menus were available. Don't rely on the main menu advertised on their website — this is a sample menu despite not being listed as such.

Beautiful place clean welcoming just a bit lacking on the dessert choice but main meal was lovely.

Really lovely quality freshly prepared food to bistro standard restaurant. Indoor / outdoor alfresco. Can imagine this being romantic at night light with candles. A little more price wise but really worth it.

Family friendly gastro pub. Run by Graham and Penny. Food is of a high standard… Graham is a former head chef of Raymond Blanc's Oxford restaurant, Le Petite Blanc. Service is friendly; they have a good kids menu; and a varied wine selection. Recommended.

Lovely little pub with a wonderful beer garden, perfect place for a quiet drink in the sun.

Food was great, a little under £20 for Steak — nice drinks and nice atmosphere.

We just went for a simple drinks with friends to this place and we fell in love with its beautiful inside design. They also have a lovely service. We will definitely be visiting again as didn´t really have chance to try the food :)

Friendly staff, delicious food reasonably priced, comfortable bed, close to sightseeing at Oxford. Relaxed courtyard to enjoy a cider. Parking is free close by. All great.

Fantastic location, beautiful building. The food is amazing. Could have a wider beer selection, but it's a Fullers pub. The only gripe is the utter lack of Wi-Fi or phone signal.

A quaint clean English pub. Food OK but pricey for the small portions. Drinks equally pricey. Would I visit again? Only if the other locals were closed.

The talkhouse is a very friendly country pub that serves good food and beer. Very interesting poster adorn the walls and hops hang from the ceiling.

We all found this venue to be ideal for our father's wake. It was quaint and cosy, ideal for my father's family and friends. The food and drink (tea and coffee) was plenty and very appetizing. I totally recommend this place for an intimate get together. A great final tribute for our father.

Went for dinner. Yummy as always. Quick service and relaxing.

The lunch was very good value. The price of sparkling water was expensive at £2.90 and a pint of lime soda at £2.50 seemed excessive.

Had my nans wake there yesterday, very overpriced buffet, defiantly not enough food for £10 a head, originally ordered for 40 people then asked for more as it had run out and got charged £100 extra for afew sandwiches and afew bits of cake that were bought through from another wake in the other room, tea and coffee was cold and the food not good at all… who puts onion in with egg! Real let down in the food front!

If you are thinking of having a wake at the Talk House — DO NOT. I visited the Talk House prior to the wake to make sure it was the right venue. The pub and the garden were lovely and John the landlord said that nobody would go hungry and there would be flowing teas and coffees for my guests. My guests were left hungry and we only received teas and coffees when we ask for them. The food was of extremely poor quantity and quality (chips, sandwiches, cocktail sausages, pork pie, pizza and salad). The pizza looked like it came from a frozen food store and the variety of sandwiches was very poor. There was certainly not enough for my 60 guests. I was told that there would also be cakes. We received treat sized brownie and lemon cake, not enough for one each and looked like they had been brought in from the supermarket in their plastic containers. At £10.95 per head I was extremely disappointed especially as this was the last thing I did for my father. It was a total of £657 badly spend. When I challenged John he did not see that he had done anything wrong. The staff left a lot to be desired too. I am sure that there other places that would do a much better job for you. Stay clear of the talk house.

What a great place, stopped as a pit stop while driving back too London, saw food going passed us and could not resist not having some ourselves, pleased we did was excellent and service good. The landlord John was very pleasant and the place had a good feeling about it. A definite stop when we are that way again.

Food was ok;had breakfast-small portions for £10 a head. Rooms open on to the courtyard which is accessible from the pub which means people drinking day and night 6 feet from your window. Rooms nice and bathroom large, but dont expect peace and quiet if the suns out and the yard is full.

We stopped at the Talkhouse after a long cycle ride hungry for coffee and a sandwich or bar meal but were told in an unfriendly manner that there were no sandwiches on offer on Sundays, despite a huge A-board sign placed outside the pub offering sandwiches and snacks. When we asked if we could have the soup of the day (we didn't want a full Sunday roast) we were told that there were no spaces "just for soup"! Although the staff member did offer us a seat at a non-restaurant table for soup, he didn't wipe up the puddle of beer on the table, put our napkins in the beer puddle and served us butter with finger marks on and no knives to spread the butter on the bread! Maybe for those that book themselves in for a full Sunday lunch, the experience at the Talkhouse is better, but for us I'm afraid it was an unwelcoming and unpleasant experience, as the staff's attitude made us feel like second-class customers.

Big old pub in quiet location. Separate dining room. There is also a garden, and some accomodation. Visited as part of a large group, which is probably not the best way to try a place. I thought the portions were small, and the food was not as hot as it should be — these are issues of serving a big group all at once. At about £40 a head for drinks and three courses, I also thought The Talkhouse was rather expensive for what we got. So, nice place, pleasant bar and staff, food of doubtful value and a bit expensive.

Began our honeymoon here was a perfect place to start. The food in the restaurant was out of this world. At very good prices would have happily paid more. Staff are very helpful and cheerfull. Altogether a very relaxing atmosphere. Very pleasant and comfy rooms. Only a 15 mins car journey to oxford city center. Would highly recommend *****.
