Beautiful monkfish cheeks and hearty beef pie with so much meat we couldn’t believe it! Great service and a lovely atmosphere. Definitely recommend.

Absolutely brilliant Sunday lunch today, we had a table for 12 at 3pm and left at 10pm! Managed to get out into the garden for the music despite the rain. The food was amazing and the staff are delightful, thank you for a lovely day. We will be back!

Me and my boyfriend went for lunch here today.
We were served by Sharon who had a great personality and made us feel very welcome. 5 star service.

Went in for Sunday lunch booked for 2.30 wasn’t seated for nearly an hour. Had to wait almost 20 minutes till someone took our order then waited until 16.00 for food to arrive. Was not impressed. Even though we were given free drinks did not make up for such a long wait.

Fantastic staff that can’t do enough for you.
Food is amazing especially the Sunday roasts.
Add to that the idillic setting and you can see why we keep coming back!

I worked here briefly in 2002, and I sampled some of the chefs specialities, lovely rooms too…

Very popular with my folks who like old school food, but I struggle to eat here! Last time I was "lucky enough" to be taken here, I ordered a smoked fish dish. Two pieces of fish, tuna and God knows what, was dry and tasteless and the salmon was hugely fatty and almost tasted high to me, as the taste was too strong. Dogs not allowed inside apparently which is unusual for a pub. The interior decoration is dated and the carpet is shocking, especially near the bar. On the positive side, the staff are wonderfully charming and attentive. The wine list is extensive for a pub and a reasonable selection of non alcoholic drinks. The outside garden area is a great advantage, especially if you have a dog or two!

Was a wonderful experience. We manage to book which was fortunate because the pub was rammed. Food was outstanding. Fish, beef, starters all superb. Serb8ce was great.

A place we kept meaning to visit a long time ago and we were not disappoint. Food was excellent, good portion (we can eat a lot) and good quality, service was excellent despite having a messy eating toddler too! Will definitely be going back!

The coseyest, warmest place for miles. Not cheap but great value. The sort of place you can happlily spend the whole afternoon.

The food was amazing and great choice of ales The only thing I can say is for valentines a welcoming drink would of topped it off but I can’t complain an amazing night. Thanks you so much And finally to the chef keep up the great work you are an incredible chef!

Service very good. Friendliness also very good. Lamb pie would be better with a little more meat but nice tasting Creme brulee very disappointing. The custard was more like what I would put on a trifle than creme brulee.

I stayed here after my friend's wedding. The room was lovely; nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. The bed was so comfy with lovely fluffy pillows and duvet, I slept really well. Breakfast was very nice (and they had gluten free bread so I was able to have some toast) and everyone I spoke to was really nice and friendly.

Nice pub. Beers were okay. Price was high.

Last nights meal (neck of lamb) wow! Literally couldn't get out of bed this morning it was so comfortable followed by the best English breakfast I think I've ever had.!
Oh and the beer was good too… obviously.

Fantastic food and wonderful service. Large, grassy outdoor area. Free parking available, or 10-15 minute walk from Great Missenden train station.

Good food but overpriced. Manager is friendly but inattentive when things aren't going quite right, and other staff seem inexperienced. Taxi on leaving was a fiasco and once it did arrive clearly charged well over the odds — I had no influence over the company used.

Stayed in one of the lovely rooms for a night away from London. Absolutely delightful. Comfortable bed, quiet room, perfectly clean. Had a wonderful dinner in the restaurant (which is very popular! ) Gorgeous good, great wine & down to earth, but attentive, friendly service. Will definitely be going back & recommending! The staff went the extra mile for us with many small things, it was such a pleasure. Lovely area for country walks!

As the previous writer said, I too am a chef. Everything was as it should be. The waiting staff were brilliant as was the food. My first time there but hopefully not the last. Keep up the good work. Special mention to our waitress. I didn't get her name but she has blond hair. She took a photo of our family. Big thanks to her.

Had a meal here today for Mothers Day. The food was not good. I was unable to eat the tomato soup due to it being so salty, the lamb was fatty and chewy and very hard to eat and the creme brulee was ruined by having a very thick chewy layer of sugar on it. I was also charged £17.95 for a meal for a 3 year old!
I will not be returning here and would definitely not recommend it to others. Very below average food and really inflated prices!
