Great food comfortable room pleasant staff and good breakfast.

Starters we had garlic Camembert with rolls & onion chutney was amazing.
My ribeye steak was done exceptionally well to my likings (rare but dark on the outside). My partner had the beef lasagna which was flavoursome & filling. Amazing hospitality from the landlord which was pleasing. Highly recommended pub for food and will definitely return to the “The Cheques Inn”

Everything is wonderful, the hosts are so friendly & welcoming, the food was gorgeous too, rooms are clean, comfortable & spotlessly clean.

We are staying in a lovely cottage just a minute down the road from here for my birthday, so we decided to come here for dinner. The staff/owners? were so welcoming & our meal was gorgeous. Will deffinately return if we are ever down this way again! thanks for a lovely evening & for being so lovely.

We popped in yesterday on our way through to Yarnton fantastic food and hospitality would definitely recommend it
Our 7 year old grandson he and the amazing pizza his own words we had the curry and mezza all home made will definitely re visit.

Stayed here last night brilliant elvis tribute and amazing food would definitely stay again lovely friendly atmosphere and hosts real home from home nothing too much trouble.

A little gem of a place. Lovely looking place, very quiet though, attentive service because of that possibly, but nonetheless a warm welcome feel in the bar. We just snacked out on hot baguettes and good red wine so I can only recommend it for that. There's also good reason as a pit stop away from the often congested A40.

The Chequers is a great little inn/hotel/pub. Welcoming staff, good home cooked food and comfortable rooms. It's in a nice, quiet location and in the winter has a cracking real fire on the go in the bar. I have stayed her 4 or 5 times when visiting the office as it is just so much better than a Travelodge (nothing wrong with them, they do what they do and do it well, I use them a lot for work trips). The idea of leaving the office and having a bar with people in it and good food and a home cooked breakfast is somethimg to look forward to if I have to be away from home for a couple of days.

Excellent guest house. Nothing too much trouble. Evening meal was fabulous. Staff very friendly. Highly recommended. Very relaxing atmosphere.

Very relaxed place. Room clean enough but bathroom in room 1 has a need for attention. Pretty grubby and smelly.

Not great 2 different prices for beer 1 for locals and a pound extra for paying guests.

Great pub for a drink. Stinks like awful BO end of bar where bucket n mop cleaning stuff is.

Very nice food I would reccomend the sloppy joe burger very clean and the landlady was friendly and very helpful I stayed for 3 nights and had no complaints breakfast was freshly cooked and to a high standard all in all 4 stars.

Nice location, small room but decent size bed, clean and tidy, great breakfast and reasonable price.

Rooms very clean and breakfast was lovely. Only downside is that you cannot check in till 4.30 pm.

Really disappointed with the lack of service at lunchtime 7.7.16. Entered the bar, barmaid having problems with the till, didn't acknowledge my presence or the other couple that entered at the same time. After 5 mins I asked if the pub was open? She turned around and said "Yes" then went on fiddling with the till. Walked out in disgust.

Stayed here one nighr while visiting Oxford — it's a lot cheaper here than Oxford, and local taxi only £10 up to town. Bar was a bit sparse and chilly when we stayed. Room and facilities were fine. Breakfast was good — full English. There's not much in the village, but this is a good pub for a short stay.

Good atmosphere, food, friendly — moved from Glos'shire and FINALLY found a great country 'Gastro — Pub'. We had a power failure in our street — in a nearby village — and decided to eat out. I liked the look of the place from outside and the promise was fulfilled inside. Fish and Chips, a Curry, and Venison were ordered and washed down with Young's Beer. If we find places like this — we don't mind if the power fails :) You'll pass it by if on the A40 from Oxford to Cheltenham — turn off at the sign for Cassington — and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. (edited to add) popped in again — just for for a drink. We had eaten already. Just as welcoming. It wasn't a fluke).

Really nice place, my husband and I were on our way to Oxford to visit family and found ourselves very hungry so pop up at this pub for a quick meal on the road and it was fantastic, they had my favorite cider (rekordelic) and very huge burgers, we had a pleasant time and it definitely suited our needs! 100% recommended.

Astonishingly bad roast dinners and barely-adequate service. A shame, because the other food was OK, beer tasty, and the location lovely.

This b+b/pub has just been took over by new owners and they clearly have no idea of how to combine the two. bedding had blood stains on it, load music, shouting and banging by staff late at night, constant noise of doors banging, creaky stairs etc. The list goes on. not a place to be if you want a decent nights sleep, dont be fooled by the glossy website. Avoid.
