This place is a disgrace! Drunks running around the accommodation last night from 3am to 5am, no night porter to offer support. No hot water to have a shave! Awful don’t go there!

The Thatch Inn is our local pub/restaurant. Wonderful food and great service. A warm, cosy romantic atmosphere. The friendly, helpful staff cannot do enough for you. Would highly recommend the Thatch to anyone.

Really enjoyed our stay for two nights. Staff were brilliant, our room was clean and fresh. The breakfasts are tasty and there is a lot of choice. The bar and atmosphere is great. Highly recommend if you are visiting the area or need a base for a few days.

A lovely place for a couples break, lovely welcoming staff and good value for money.

Cream tea was superb, some of the best scones we have had and still warm from the oven. Our evening meal was delicious, fresh ingredients and arrived piping hot. Stayed in a large double room, very clean, spacious, comfy huge bed and excellent pillows, could not fault a thing! Again the food at breakfast was delicious, fresh and piping hot.

Always a little dubious about staying somewhere for £45 a night, but wow! Chocolate box looking building with lots of character and spacious car park. Check in: we arrived at 2pm and check in was supposed to be 5pm, however a member of staff called Victoria happily checked us in early as the room was ready and was no trouble for her at all, she also seemed to be running everywhere sorting other chores too, she explained about the safety aspect of covid precautions they have in place and was very satisfying knowing that we were in safe hands. She also showed us to the room and if we needed anything, just to ask. Room: We had room 6, which was a small double and looked as if newly refurbished, lovely room with everything needed, modern and a nice little bathroom with shower. The bed was super comfy with nice memory foam pillows. Evening Meal: Me and my wife booked a table for two, and glad we did as fully booked. We both opted for steak and was one of the best steaks we have had, cooked exactly to our order and so tender. The lady that took our order was victoria, who checked us in earlier. The meal was served to us by another lady called Carol, she was very polite and could have laugh with her, which made it a good experience.
We were also served by another young lady and wish I had taken her name too as she also was extremely pleasant and hard working on the night.

Visiting for a meal for the first time last night with family, very nice garden and friendly staff, food was ok what I had. There is room for improvement though, a children’s menu would be good and I found the prices abit high. 7/10 for me.

Had a very odd experience at the Thatch Inn last night. My wife went there for an evening meal with her friends a week ago and had a really good experience: nice atmosphere, excellent food and friendly table service. Because of this, we decided to go there again. What a contrasting outcome… Having booked a table, we turned up at the arranged time and were told to sit where we liked. Clearly no table had been reserved and prepared for us! After ten minutes, there was no sign of a waiter or waitress so I went to the bar and asked for a menu, and asked for clarification as to whether we should order at the bar or if it was still table service. The bar maid said we needed to order at the bar. I queried why this had changed since the previous week and she literally laughed at me and said “it says order at the bar on the menu”. After going back to the table and sitting next to two vaping customers while I browsed the menu, I realised that the vegetarian options had all but disappeared since a week ago. We quickly drank up and left, in pursuit of a couple of ready-meals from Tesco. Very confused what has happened here. I thought they were under new management, but it would appear that ownership may have changed again in the last few days.

Every time we have been here has been great, it’s what a pub should be like. Great food, lovely people and a great atmosphere. A proper pub vibe. Unlike most of the other local pubs, you get authentic and well cooked food, so much nicer than the usual pub boil in the bag food. Plus proper local beer.

Went there last night for a meal with a friend. The service and staff were helpful, lovely and efficient. The food was hot, tasty and plentiful. Would definitely go again.

We had our baby's Christening party here and it was lovely. The staff were great and really friendly and the buffet was very good and as a family full of chefs we are not easy to please!. We also got to sample some of the Sunday lunch which was fantastic and the gravy was absolutely amazing! We'll definitely be booking in for Sunday lunch in the future and would certainly come here again for a family get together :)

Visited with friends on Friday 26th July (evening). The food was amazing. All 2/3 courses were freshly cooked. The service was very slow and we ordered our food at the bar and went to the bar to pay our bill. I would visit again for the food alone and hopefully the service will improve.

Went for Sunday lunch today with my gran and daughter. Food was delicious — highly recommend the whitebait and roast pork! Desserts were to die for (apologies didn’t get photos! ). Megan served us — very friendly and attentive! Will definitely come back! Thank you x.

Thank you Marc and the team for making my 50th birthday lunch party so lovely. The buffet was simply delicious. The freshly homemade bruschetta, quiches, frittata, pasties, dips and wedges were far, far superior to the usual bought in frozen products that so many other establishments now serve. My guests have been sending me the most complimentary messages and I’m sure we will return soon, to try out the other Gins and yourregular lunch menu…

Great place to stay, clean comfortable beds friendly staff and great food.

Heard good and bad things about it but changed hands and very positive now clean and tidy and good breakfast staff helpful and friendly.

Lovely place to stay staff friendly room clean and comfortable bed we had the full english breakfast food was nice but we thought it was exspensive for the amount you got.

We enjoyed our brief stay in Gloucester in this lovely Inn. Staff were very polite and the rooms were clean. Comfortable beds and a good size shower made our stay very pleasant. Plenty of parking available. Early mornings here can be rather loud with delivery trucks turning up, but it didn't keep us awake for too long.

A visit to one charming historical public house — real ales, low wooden beams won't go amiss, just go and enjoy. We have stayed over night, new owners, superb chef, cosy rooms and fantastic food, go on stay there, have a real treat.

Lovely stay here. Rooms are not modern, small bathroom bedroom but clean and comfortable. Rooms match the thatch Inn, would look odd with modern rooms so if you like a place with character then it's a good place to stay. No complaints.

Apparently Anne Boleyn is alleged to have stayed here. It's a 16th Century (I think) Tavern with old wooden beams, a small cottage style garden, small pub with 20+ rooms at reasonable price (we paid £70 with continental breakfast thrown in) cooked breakfast an extra £3 which was ok. Not the best sausages but apart from that, good. Cheaper than a lot of others we looked at…

Had a great stay. Quiet and staff were great.

Stayed for one night in room 14. This room is one of the smallest and the frosted window won't open. The shower needs some attention and the whole room could do with a refit. Not sure if someone had previously died in this room, bit there were a number of dying flies struggling. The hotel part of the building hasn't aged as well as the pub. The food from the kitchen was tasteless, but after sending it back was told that the chef had walked out 2 weeks ago. I also didn't like the fact that dogs were allowed to roam around whilst I was eating. This place has got potential, but needs bringing up to a reasonable standard. One bonus: there's a socket next to the bed unlike a lot of chain hotels. Every cloud…

Charming place staff were friendly enough the room was small and quite dated a tiny showe and tiny towels all needs a bit of a spruce up.
disappointed with breakfast which did not happen apparently it was not available? dont think we would stay here again it was not cheap.

Truly the worst place I have stayed in. The staff were friendly but the food was dreadful. Scampi and chips and peas, not a lot to mess up one would think but the scampi was burnt, peas were cool and chips just about cooked.
The room was grubby and the decor very tired, painted tops that were scratched and in dull beige added to the gloom.
The bathroom smelled of urine and the towels were thin and frayed.
To cap it all the shower would not work unless one pressed the grubby plastic button all the time, even then the water was tepid. The place has potential as it could be an interesting and beautiful building but the owners just don't have a clue or can't afford to update it. It was not cheap either £95 a night!

Plenty of room to park, always a bonus.

Ideal for a quiet drink, as long as its not Guinness and you are not taller than 5ft 6ins.

Quirky, different, service in the old fashioned way, everything at snails pace, had to wait 15 minutes to get an afternoon drink as owner was checking in guests, took them to their rooms then came back to us. Ordered an evening meal, steak, salad, new potatoes etc, one lady doing bar and waitressing, said it will be quick as you're the only ones ordering, over half an hour, hate to see it slow! But the meal was lovely, plenty of it and the salad and potatoes were obviously all prepared from fresh, the breakfast was lovely, everyone friendly, it's not like checking into a modern chain hotel, the towels don't get changed daily etc, but room was large, (twin was 2 doubles) dated but it's an old coaching inn, shower was good and constant temperature, went as a group of 5, all agreed if we went back to Gloucester would stay again.

The hotel is old it has a tree older then me growing out of the roof. Rooms are dated and all peach colour. Tje bathroim smells of mold. The bed was like sleeping on concrete no bounce in it what so ever. I was woke at 3am to the sound of bottle bins being emptied into recycling skips. In the morning we was stood in a hallway because the door to breakfast was locked was told breakfast was at 7.15 but the door wasn't opened till 7.30. The breakfast was adequate could of done with being cooked a little longer tho. Plenty of parking.

Vintage looking place, lovely stuff. Definitely worth checking in. The pub/restaurant or the hotel.

Lovely on the outside and public areas. Pity about the hotel room. Very dated furniture but at least it was a good size the windows opened onto a storage area where staff walked past on a regular basis. Drawers were kept shut by a wicker chair pushed against them. Very noisy with doors banging well after midnight but that would be blamed on other inconsiderate guests. We were going to have evening meal there but after waiting 10 minutes for staff to appear we left the hotel and walked upto subway. Was ignored by staff when I checked out (they smiled and walked off) and I ended up ringing the bell to get their attention.

We were advised during our visit an episode of The Hotel Inspector had been filmed here. We found it on line to watch. Interestingly none of the suggested changes seemed to have been implimented. We waited an hour and 10 mins for a meal from the specials board, The Cottage pie was a bowl of tasteless slop topped by what seemed to be instant mash and I used a napkin to soak up the water from the boiled veg. Following a family funeral though I was too hungry and tired to wait any longer. While the room was dated it was clean, the bed was comfy and we slept well, but really, carpet in the bathroom! The breakfast was good, hot and there was plenty of it, served well by a friendly chatty waitress and well worth the price. This was a return visit, as we had used it as a base for visiting the afore nentioned family member. On that visit when we tried to order dinner just before 9 we were told the kitchen was closed, we had not been told about this on check in, but we did later find a notice in the bar telling us this, so worth remembering if you plan to visit.

Greeted by very friendly staff and welcomed to a traditional pub, spent several hours enjoying the pleasant atmosphere including time spent in the beer garden, brilliant.

Very lovely old building but rather dated rooms. Some of the towels need replacing. No socket near mirror for hairdryer Breakfast not very organised. But nice staff.

I only had a room for the night and did not try the bar or restaurant. I have to say, it was basic, tired, and overpriced for what it was. Paid £60 for the night. £40 would have been more appropriate.

The Little Thatch is badly managed with an extremely rude manager called Laura Nicholson who spoke to me like I was a nuisance and couldn't be bothered to spare me the time! She is totally inept and providing a service and her customer service skills are nil. Please don't bother to enquire to stay there. I had a last minute cancellation but still before the room was used in any way shape or form. I had paid for a large full English breakfast that never got cooked let alone eaten and they refused to refund me any of the room cost or even the breakfast. The manner in which Laura Nicholson spoke to me was outrageous, no customer service skills at all. She even put the phone down and wouldn't give me the email address of her director to make a complaint. My family stay there often when visiting Gloucester but that counted for nothing with Ms Nicholson. That is no way to run a leisure sector business that relies on customer service. Awful.
