Me and my friend came for Lunch today we had King Prawns, Baked Cambert and Squid wow the food was Amazing, Danielle who served us is a credit to your Hotel lovely person made Our visit very enjoyable.

Wow what a gem had a wonderful stay very friendly and attentive staff nothing is too much trouble, rooms lovely and spacious spotless clean. Had a fantastic evening meal absolutely delicious the best steak we’ve had in a long time and breakfast so much choice and poached eggs to perfection. Will definitely be returning in the future.

I’ve stayed in many hotels/B&B’s across the Uk and Europe — for me this is by far the best. Hospitality is exceptional and rooms have recently been refurbished to a high standard. Location is excellent, right on the seafront and never had an issue to park — parking is free! Haven’t got a bad work to say!

Another Sunday lunch, and as usual fantastic. Bar and restaurant areas have changed since our last visit, and they look great, a great improvement. Definitely worth the visit, you won't go hungry here.

Had a lovely get together with friends last week. Due to the current restrictions, we sat outside on the terrace. The heaters were really good and those, along with the delicious mulled wine, meant we really didn’t feel the cold. Food was outstanding as usual, as was the service. Would highly recommend xx.

We have just had our sparking afternoon tea wedding reception with the Camelia Hotel. They were very helpful and accomodated our small group in a secluded area. Considering it is during the Covid restrictions they made the whole process nice and simple for us. We felt safe on the premises. Staff all had masks and there were sanitisers available.
The afternoon tea was lovely, they catered for the children beautifully, lovely selection of sandwiches and cakes, the prosecco was lovely as was the tea. I cannot fault anything. I would definitely return and definitely recommend it.

Had a lovely afternoon tea here yesterday. The service was superb and my allergies were catered for with no fuss.

This is our 3rd stay and it is very friendly, comfy and has a well stocked bar except craft beer only lager. It is well situated.

Went today for a family catch up before Christmas. The table looked lovely complete with Christmas crackers. This is the third time we have been for a meal and I cannot fault it. The food is excellent and the staff couldn’t be more helpful. Will definitely be back again sooner rather than later. Thank you for a great time.

Everything. I just expected a room with an ensuite. We have got a kitchen, front room bathroom and bedroom. Like a 1 bedroom flat. And room service. So good I will be recommending the CAMELIA hotel to all my friends.

Great food, great staff; everyone seemed to want to please and go the extra mile. Had a family gathering of 16 there last weekend. We all had different needs and expectations but nothing was too much trouble. Can’t speak too highly of the Camelia. They really did us proud!

Best Hotel in Southend and lovely family owners.

We took my 80 year old mother who has dementia to the Camelia hotel for Afternoon tea. Well it was fantastic, the staff were wonderful, they were understanding when we moved a chair away from the table to let my mother stay sitting in the wheelchair. We sat by the window so we had a lovely view whilst eating our sandwiches, scone and cakes. The afternoon tea was delicious and there was so much that we struggled to eat it all. When I booked the table over the phone, I mentioned that it was a gift for my mums 80th birthday and before we finished they brought her a slice of chocolate cake with a candle in it and sang "happy birthday" to her. So unexpected and thoughtful. I have had afternoon tea else where and they were nice but not a patch on the Camelia. I would definitely recommend you take a visit, I certainly will be going back. Thank you Camelia Hotel.

We went for afternoon tea for my friend's joint baby shower and they couldn't have been more accommodating. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and gluten free option was great. Thank you!

A great place to eat or drink. We drank wine on the decking in the sun overlooking the sea — heaven! The waiter was very polite and efficient. Would thoroughly recommend the food here too as we have eaten here in many occasions.

Was happy with the food, but was not happy with no choice of teas, was told they didn't have any. The service was good at first but went a bit down the pan. Had to just ask for the bill. But we would have liked more drinks.

This is a smart hotel slightly away from the bustle of main Southend, towards Thorne Bay but still along the front by the beach. We had a full afternoon tea there. Enjoyable and it had a calm, relaxing atmosphere. Good service, I recommend it for a relaxing hour or two.

Stayed Sunday til Monday and staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Accommodation lovely and very clean. Had a very lovely Sunday 3 course meal for just under £20 and a lovely continental breakfast all sat outside on the decking. Hotel is situated just away from the noise so was very peaceful but you can easily head in to the arcades etc. Free parking at rear, (and great our dog Chilli was welcome too). Would highly recommend.

I absolutely love the Camelia Hitel, my elderly Mum is treated like a Queen when she stays. The staff are super friendly and the food is fabulous. Book early, I highly recommend.

Location was great. Staff were friendly. Lovely breakfast. Could have done with a fan in the room as it was a warm night. Also bottled water as the tap water tasted awful.

We stayed her for one night over a busy weekend. Staff and rooms lovely couldn't fault them. Location is fine if you are happy to walk or drive into town. Parking is available on site, although was full when we arrived but we managed to park on the road outside. Would definitely stay again!

Absolutely wonderful. Only gave it 5 because I can't give it 10. Fantastically helpful staff, extremely comfortable rooms and great food. Also they do my washing. Working 7 days a week away from home I view this as my second home and look forward to coming back here. Marvellous place with great gin and tonic.

Stayed overnight Friday 13th. Had a great ground floor room and ensuite. Had dinner in restaurant with our family. Fantastic service and food, well looked after all evening. Same staff on breakfast service, again good breakfast and well looked after. The waitress and waiter were exceptional in making sure we were okay and had all we wanted. The waitress even helped my husband by carrying our two overnight cases to our car. We will certainly be back again very soon. Thankyou.

Just would like to thank Jamie, Laura and all the hard working staff who pulled out all the stops to give us a Diamond Wedding weekend to remember. Nothing was too much trouble and the celebration lunch on Sunday was perfect. Our 30 guests were very complimentary on the great food and service. I booked a table for hubby's birthday on Sunday evening and I cannot fault the food or service in any way. We love everything about the Camelia and visit as often as we can… food is always great and the staff are really lovely. Special mention must go to Lucy who waited on our table … she was just fantastic… friendly and courteous and is an absolute gem at her job… please ensure you keep Lucy at your hotel as you should be so proud of how she represents your excellent business… will be back again without a doubt…

Been coming here regularly ever since we moved to the area in march and absolutely love the friendly family atmosphere and warm welcoming feeling we get every time we go. The food is delicious, nice views from the decked terrace, hotel decor is beautiful with period features, lovely, helpful staff, thoroughly recommend staying or just visiting this wonderful hotel. The Camellia Hotel is brilliant friendly and welcoming we enjoyed our stay also dog friendly, also right on the sea front.

I recently spent a weekend here and firstly I have to say that the hotel is lovely, the rooms clean and up to date and the staff very friendly. However I booked this particular hotel as I am vegan and when I called to ask if they catered for vegans and had vegan options on their breakfast menu, I was told 'yes we do' Unfortunately I was unable to have cereal as they had no non dairy milk alternative, I could only have dry toast as they didn't have any vegan marge and my options for the cooked breakfast were hash browns, beans, tomatoes and mushrooms! This is not catering for vegans! I will not be returning! All it takes is to have a carton of longlife plant based milk, a small tub of vegan marge and a pack of vegan sausages in the freezer. Would cost around £3-4. Simples! One unhappy customer here! Please do not say that you cater for vegans when clearly you do not. I left feeling I had been tricked into staying!

Really enjoyed this hotel. A pleasant walk along the coast road out of Southend, so you won't be disturbed by the noise. Pleasant and comfortable rooms. Good quality breakfast. If coming to Southend, I would happily use this place again.

This Hotel is a hidden gem It is hard to believe this is only rated 3 star, from the initial contact to ending our stay first class service was the norm. Nothing was too much trouble not that we had any. We tried out the restaurant in the evening, an other delightful surprise the food was superb the service equally so. In fact we were confident enough to invite some family to join us for Sunday lunch our guests were equally impressed so much so that we all unilaterally agreed to book the hotel over the Christmas period based on our experience. This time we are both expectant and excited to see what they can deliver I have a feeling we will not be disappointed.

Can't praise the staff highly enough, so obliging. Food good. Would like to return.

Went here for the kids afternoon tea on a recommendation and it was very nice. A good selection of cakes which the kids were thrilled by (they also do food like chicken nuggets, etc…) and the sandwiches for the adults can be customised if you give them enough notice before the day you come. I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel itself with everything being quite new and contemporary and I would definitely consider staying here. All the staff we had contact with were very friendly. All in all a very pleasant experience.

Worst customer service ever!

Nice location on the front clean rooms, breakfast was fresh staff were very helpful. Only down side if you can call it that, was the windows in my room were not very easy to open, and could have been a different design.
