My son and I had great fun at the halloween pizza and craft party here this morning. Maria was sooooo patient with my little one and his friends, especially considering we made lots of mess and noise 😅 Two activities included in our ticket price was a bargain! I’ve been here many times for nights out and it’s always a great atmosphere, so to be able to cater for kids activities during the day too is a real triumph. Nailed it 👍🏼

Maria served 12 of us with a fantastic lunch. Excellent food, good prices and very friendly staff. Will recommend to friends. Thank you Maria and The Half Moon Inn.

Excellent food. Great beer, friendly efficient staff. Last time here, I had the mixed grill, not the mega grill but still almost finished me off. Today, I had the ultimate burger. Again, enormous. Well priced food.

Welcoming and incredibly helpful young & enthusiastic staff with warm, friendly atmosphere. @HalfmoonSherborne was perfect for a 2 night stay for a lone traveller’s flying visit. Quiet, comfortable room and good, well-priced pub meals. Perfectly placed, metres from the historic Sherborne Abbey & School in the heart of this lovely market town & surrounded by wonderful Medieval & soft ochre ham-stone architecture…… yet only a 10 minute walk at most (use path through the pretty Pageant Garden) to the railway station & hourly trains to/from London.

Such a friendly welcoming pub … the bar staff were amazing and made us and our dogs very welcome. The food was good quality and reasonable prices. Very dog friendly … Would highly recommend.

Quite loud and busy, but no bother from the mainly younger crowd. Just had lovely dinner with a fab friend. Fantastic service from kayla. Beautiful old building in utterly gorgeous town.

Great place to go to eat, drink, watch sports on tele, play pool and listen to your favourite music on the jukebox!

Visited the Moon to watch the Football after a long walk around Sherborne. Although not a sports bar they had a TV so we decided to stay for food. A lovely family atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing food. Would highly recommend for families eating out.

A good place to avoid! the 1st time we went, the mayonnaise was rubber and a member of our family was poorly for a few days after, we tried again but the food was mediocre and the service was abysmally slow with no apologies or discount and they even brought out the wrong main course too. I'm certainly not going again!

Fantastic pub with great choice of beers. Recommend the Sun carvery, we all loved it.

Great location near the town, bus and train plus Abbey. I could hear the bells (not loudly) from my room. Room was large and light. Welcoming staff and good breakfast. Only mum is was synthetic bedding bedding that made sleeping quite hot.

Yeah… hmm. Well, its a big pub in Sherborne with reasonable prices. That's bout all it's got going for it. Chain pub food and ambience and at the weekend populated by underage (apparently) drinkers. But don't worry you can go and sit on the benches by the road and remind yourself what life used to be like!

Overall not bad, the staff are friendly and very helpful and the breakfast is fine. However it does, sadly fall down on a number of things. I had to go and ask for milk as the drinks tray hadn’t been attended to during all my stay, there was no loo brush and the hot water system broke down. The carpets could do with replacement and a crate of paint wouldn’t go amiss. Also there was no one on duty during the night, which I think was bad. There was no information about emergency evacuation or assembly point. The bed was ok, the only thing that disturbed my sleep were inconsiderate guests who thought nothing of slamming doors at two in the morning. The pub is in a good location and not far from the railway station. Would I stay again? Possibly not.

Very friendly staff great central location. The rooms could do with some updating but the place was clean and comfortable.

Centrally located and opposite Sherborne Abbey. Large pub, but table service is slow. Their food menu is extensive and the rump steak salad was good, as was our parties food — no complaints here. The food is very reasonably priced, as are the beers. Overall, a good choice if you don't mind the wait.

Fantastic value for money supper, luckily it was a chicken night which included the best marstons pedigree I ever drunk, and the house wine was good value, all for £7.95!

Great location in a cute little town. This busy Marston Inn offers cheap accommodation in recently refurbished rooms. It can be quite noisey at the weekend get high rooms at the back of the hotel. Staff, particularly Kerry are very helpful. Food is average, cheap and cheerful.

Good night's stay in this lovely village pub. Rooms in a convient block to the rear of the property. Friendly staff and a good breakfast.

Bed was nice and big, don't have the Pizzas from the menu, no taste at all and very noisy room, draymen changing barrels at 7am on a Bank holiday Monday! Sherbourne is beautiful though!

A large Marston's chain pub with "hotel" upstairs. For what it is, and for what we paid I would happily stay there again. The staff were friendly and the food was chain-pub quality. Breakfast in the morning was standard. The room was comfortable, if a little small for a twin room, and the bathroom was galley style and you had to squeeze around a bit. If you're looking for somewhere in a pinch, definitely consider it, but if you want somewhere to relax — look again.

This establishment most certainly tries to look up-to-date. Most of the staff are friendly. The toilets appear to be out of order fairly often and when they do work, they are not very clean. Most places clean their toilets every hour or two, however, it looks as though these are done in the morning and left until closing time. There have been several occasions when my table had not been cleaned properly. I think it's awful to be shown to a table that has been displayed nicely, only to find it has someone else's old food still smeared into it. I am amazed that the hygiene rating has remained at "Very Good" (5). I have only given two stars for this establishment because the food is often good, they are happy to fix any faults, however, there should not be as many faults to begin with.

Booked a family room for 1 night. Parking is to the rear of the pub, which is free if you stay, just give your reg at check in. We stayed in room 1 which had just been decorated. The bed was large and comfy and lots of sockets with usb points for today's modern traveller. Found not hear any noise from busy bat below. Breakfast was included and was nice. Cereal, juice, pastries as well as a full English. Also had a drink in the evening in bar which was a bustling bar with friendly staff. Great value and location if staying in the local area.

Really a very hospitable place with great food.

Food was very nice indeed and served promptly. The lavatories were not up to scratch (although it was lunch time and far from being super busy) and look very dated now.

A sleepy locals pub. Good choice of ales and lagers. Sunday lunch pretty good, buffet style. Nice log burner and cosy window seats. Watch out for daytime closing hours.

Good staff, busy bar, but the food was average, in fact my wife's burger was poor. When you go out you like to eat nice, specially in a nice town like Sherborne, so we were disappointed.

Stayed here a couple of weeks ago for one night, the staff were friendly and helpful despite being tired from the busy Christmas period. The room was cosy, the bed was noticably clean and comfortable (one of the best nights sleep ive had away from home for a long time. ) We had dinner and breakfast too and the food was delicious. Only downside I can think of was that there was no shampoo or conditioner that I could find otherwise it was great!

Decent drinks and pool table but around half of the men's toilets were out of order on a Friday night.

Efficient staff, pleasant room, good location. Pub is noisy and busy, but room was quiet enough.

Absolutely awful place. Tired looking and closed most of the time. Sleeping accommodation was a throw back to the 1970's, with the exception of the TV which had a fluctuating signal. The electric plug in fire was last PAT tested in 2010 and the actual plug fell apart whilst removing it from the socket. Breakfast was ok but nothing special.

We choose this lovely venue in the heart of town with abbey views for our reunions, 2 for 1 pizza in the week.

The food is very good, the beer is very affordable, the atmosphere is great, the staff are friendly and helpful and the seating is comfortable, one of the best pubs around.

Service and food is always nice however I ordered from the no gluten containing ingredients menu last time and spent the night being sick shortly after so either it wasn't gluten free or was cross contaminated. Such a shame as this has always been where my bestie and I go for a good catch up.

I went straight in and was served straight away by an extremely polite gentleman called harry and he put my food order in and I was being served within ten minutes which was delicious.
I also attended the pub quiz in the evening which was thoroughly entertaining.
All in all one had a very pleasant day!

Attended with a group of friends to be greeted, or not as the case was, by a stuck up blonde woman in her 50's barking commands at us. Omg she treated a group of men at the bar like dirt. They asked for their drinks and she yelled at them is there anything else you need from that side of the bar. How are they supposed to know where the stock is lol it was funny and disturbing at the same time. I heard the guys say they wouldn't order another drink. Silly woman, I hope she's not the owner or the place will be closed soon.

Been to half moon for late valentines meal. Bar staff very friendly and polite. Food excellent, chips to die for, and my steak was cooked perfectly (and I'm very fussy)! Would definitely recommend and we will be back again! Thank you!

Great atmosphere of the pub. Skittles on Tuesdays. A nice kitchen. Very comfortable rooms, very quiet.

The service was brilliant, the food lovely, and the staff friendly. Only problem I had was the parking ticket machine was out of order.

I was there for dinner. The food was great, the service was perfect and we did not have to wait long. The location is great as well. There is a parking place behind Half Moon, and the pub itself is in the Center of the city.

Went for lunch with a friend. Service was quick, staff were friendly, and the food was good.

Not bad. Was a quick stop on the way back from Cornwall to London. Was a life saver as this was the only place that served a late lunch on a public holiday. Food was ok.

Since the re-furb, the food is so much nicer. I was here with a friend a couple of weeks ago, we both had steaks, and they were really nice, cooked exactly as we asked. The staff were very polite and we were made to feel welcome. Will definitely go back again.

Where do I begin, okay the positives, the starters are of a good portion, and the deserts are okay… They clearly had recently spent money renovating the place, so it was a nice atmosphere. However, I decided that I would have pizza for my main course, that was a mistake, first of all the actual size of the pizza was tiny, I would say maybe 6 inch but probably smaller, how this is meant to fill up a grown man I do not know… The cost of this pathetic pizza was just under £10, which is a total over price, seen as for that much money I could get a pizza from Pizza Hut that would be 12 inches. I also decided that I may like a sauce with my pizza; they were £2+ for a sauce. The waiter who served us was very weak, he didn't ask us where we wanted the food when it arrived, he messed up my drink order and didn't ask us for another drink after the starters; this is all been a standard from all pubs that I have been to. The main thing that was a disappointment was the price-portion size ratio, it just felt like a rip off. I would say proceed with caution when going to The Half Moon.

Decent food, nice venue. Great location opposite the Abbey. Parking behind the hotel, which is pay and display, but the venue will refund it for customers. Very busy Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

I have used this Pub/Hotel over many years, and can say, it is only as good as its staff. At the present time, the Landlady Juanita, runs a tight ship, her staff, are very friendly, and helpful, and can't do enough for you. Different to past experiences. Marston's seem to be the biggest problem here, they have let a fantastic venue down, by under investing in a winner. The decor, is to say, the least, very shabby, it needs a complete refurb. This is a beautiful town, and this Hotel is in the heart of it, the staff are fantastic, please give them the tools to work with, this place will fall down, if something isn't done soon. marston's take note, we locals love this pub!

Pretty uninspiring Marston's pub. The beer and the food are average while the bar staff, who always appear to be more interested in chatting between themselves than serving customers, are well below average. For much better food try the Raj Poot next door and for much better atmosphere, staff and ales go to the Plume of Feathers a few doors down.
