South House Retreat Hotel

We stayed at South House this weekend for my wife’s birthday and we had a wonderful time. Tracy and Martin had some flowers and iced Prosecco waiting in our room and we went for a walk in the lovely grounds and crossed the Kissing Bridge over their little stream. OK — it’s not actually called that, but it’s what we called it! We met the house’s little flock of hens in the walled garden (fresh free range eggs for breakfast) and one even let my wife cuddle her. The look on her face told me it was an amazing start. We drank the Prosecco in the house’s hot tub until sunset then went back to the room where the bedside lights had been turned on and the (genuine) shutters closed. Dinner was three courses of five-star quality followed by coffee and good conversation in front of a roaring fire. We slept like logs in a wonderfully comfortable bed (Tracy tells me that they replace the mattresses every year without fail) and had a wonderfully home cooked breakfast in the morning Overall, South House has a wonderfully calm and welcoming atmosphere and we highly recommend it. Beautiful home, delightful hosts, great food and excellent facilities.

We had a lovely time at Tracy and Martin's. The house is stunning, and full of character. The rooms are large and clean. We stayed for dinner as well which was delicious and prepared with care. Breakfast was also great. Worth a visit.

My daughter and I have just spent a wonderful day at South House. Tracey and Martin were both so welcoming and great company. Lovely treatments, delicious lunch and a fantastic hot tub, all in a beautiful setting. Will most certainly be going back!

Gorgeous house, lovely hosts and a beautiful place – what not to like! Seriously, I highly recommend this place. If you want to go for a quick break in the beautiful country side of Dorset, away from the hustle and bustle of your routine life, this is the place to book. And you HAVE to try Tracy’s cooking! Her cooking is finger licking good and it will be a shame if you don’t try it at least once.

I used South House during the daytime for a photography shoot. The choice of different settings available at this venue is fantastic. We were given a tour at the start and then left to our own devices for the three hours. I would highly recommend this venue for anyone looking for a wide variety of photography backdrops both indoors and out.
