Just spent Christmas Day at the spice ship.
we had a beautiful lunch with all the trimmings.
Nice Manager and great Kitchen and waiting staff.

👍 read the reviews AFTER we had been for lunch today. Was surprised by some of them. Service was great, staff were friendly and food was lovely. I had the lasagne, with the sourdough garlic bread (lush) and my other half had the southern fried chicken burger and sweet potato fries. All hot, freshly cooked and yummy.

Our first visit to the ship today having just moved to the area. The bar staff were so friendly and helpful. The Sunday roast was delicious 😋 We will be returning and making it our local 😉

Family friendly, with a lovely play area and undercover seating area. Fast service and wonderful Sunday Roast with a generous helping of the best gravy. Perfect for a Sunday afternoon.

Awful awful service! Ordered food only to be told 25 minutes later it wasn’t available and it happened because it’s a Sunday. Staff handled the situation badly very badly and as for the manager well he clearly isn’t familiar with customer service. Was so promising, however after such an experience I shall certainly not be recommending, shame as the setting was lovely!

One of my favourite pubs now around Weymouth, very friendly and helpful staff (a special mention to Becca who's fantastic! ). Great, sheltered outdoor area which is fab, especially when it rains and due to Covid we feel more relaxed being outside. Could maybe invest in some outside heaters, that'd be lovely.

Great atmosphere and nice place to spend our anniversary.

We waited ages for our food, every meal was stone cold. 4 of us had steak which we ordered medium rare, all were burned on the outside. I have to say it was the worst meal I've ever had. I could not eat mine and I refused to pay for them. What a shame we were there to celebrate a 60th wedding anniversary. Not good.

Service took way too long (to order food & drinks and then for them to arrive) no offer for drinks top up during meal. One member of staff quite rude! Asked how our meal was and I said there was a very small portion of chips and would have preferred a few more, (I was being honest, it looked like a child’s meal) he replied saying I should have ordered an extra bowl if I wanted more! Another waiter offered more chips which I gladly accepted. Came back and said the head chef has flatly refused! I confronted the head chef (Ian) in person and said there was about 6 chips on my plate and said it was me that asked for a few more… but he back chatted with me in front of staff and said I know there was more as it was me who served your meal. How embarrassing! I said I will agree to disagree! Is that the attitude to customers when someone is genuinely unhappy with their meal? You are meant to let people know! Waste of time — paid and left as couldn’t be bothered to argue! To top it off, toilets are disgusting! One cubicle blocked with tampons, sinks were a mess, water everywhere… chip shop wrappers in there and a dirty looking bottle of hand sanitiser with no lid! What’s happened to the Spice Ship? Use to be lovely in there! Sort it out.

Had bacon chops this evening! Spot on! Great staff, great food, nice cold well deserved lager after a long days graft! great atmosphere as was busy but still received quick service with friendly smiles. ☺️

We visited the Spice Ship this evening after winning a very generous bar tab in a Facebook like and share post. Friendly staff, hand sanitizers and stickers to remind us about social distancing, lovely beer garden and lots of seating available, great service and food on a hot busy day! Very impressed with the food and service all at great prices and of course our discount. Thank you all for a lovely evening. Will be back again soon!

I'd recommend for a drink as lovely decor. Ordered food… and waited and waited. Restaurant very quiet disappointed with standard of lunch. Over priced what we had and very small portions. Came here to try out since refit. But won't bother to eat here in future.

My starter came 10 mins after everyone finished there’s, my steak was a tough old cow which was very stringy overcooked; got a complimentary desert which weren’t nothing to write home about service was standard nice decor in pub thou. Starters was the best when it finally came!

We stayed at the holiday park a few minutes away but wanted to explore what was around. That’s when we found the Spice Ship. A very good atmosphere with a good mix of locals and people visiting. The price was decent for a pub that isn’t in the town and the staff were friendly. We really had a good time and enjoyed it so just wanted to leave a review to say our thanks. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great food, one of the best burgers if ever had, friendly staff and value for money. The waitress was fantastic. Well worth a visit 5 ⭐️.

The fridges were empty, there is no premium beer and there were hardly any customers in there. The wine from the fridge was warm so needed ice adding and it generally looks unloved.

We were disappointed with the carvery. The pub is full of promise when you walk through the door but unfortunately the further into it you go the more run down it becomes and the food can only be described as mediocre. I've had far better for half the price.

Wonderful hospitality. Great old fashioned style pub with the best Lamb shanks you could get. Meat fell off the bone and melted in the mouth. The sauce complimented the superbly cooked baby potatoes, carrots and peas. I would recommend anyone to call in for a beer and food that would make any five star restaurant quiver at the thought such great food can be had at a pub.

Stayed in a holiday park near by. (5 minute walk). Nice pub classics and nice size dishes… nice local pub atmosphere. And nice sized pub garden. Will visit again if I'm in the area.

Typical pub. Food very good. Did not dilsappointl on both visits. They were busy on the second visit and service was slower but not too bad. Beer garden with some dated equipment for the kid's. Garden needs a refresh as it is dated and unkempt.

We came for a week's holiday on the Haven site came for meal on the 1/7/18 and it was awesome lovely staff very welcoming and the food was great A1. Would highly recommend.

Dog friendly, staff friendly, great atmosphere, live bands play regularly, food very good and good value, the Sunday carvery is well worth a visit, my dog loves going there as he knows he is greeted with a treat.

Had a lovely stay at this pub when we came to Weymouth for a wedding. We booked 4 rooms that were clean and comfortable. Had a lovely meal before going out and woke up to a lovely breakfast. Staff were very friendly and we would definitely stay there again.

Friendly staff and the food is outstanding. We had a week at the Haven campsite and ate there everyday. The food is so good its hard to decide what to choose, but the staff are happy to help. Also serve some cracking real ale, you really cant go wrong there.

Very friendly with a nice outdoor space. We didn't eat but we went on a curry night, looked and smelt good, and prices were reasonable.

Popped in for a quick drink and look around before deciding whether to return at a later date for a meal together. Good range of choice on main menu, but was tempted by some of the items on the "Specials" board. Was taken aback by the sheltered outdoor seating (smoking area) including pool table. Even though it was the middle of winter it seemed a real 'gem' and must be outstanding in the warmer months. Will have to make a date with other half to return soon.

Stayed with our two dogs. Lovely hotel room was cosy (we were told before arriving that we had small room but didn't view this as a problem). Owners very accommodating to our dogs & went out of their way to make us all feel welcome. Food was very good. Would highly recommend.

On the (A353) leaving Weymouth and going eastwards, is the village of Preston. There on the roadside is the famous Spice Ship Inn. Parts of the bar look like the inside of an old sailing vessel — the illusion spoiled by the big flat screen TV screens and the blinking lights of the fruit machines. Wooden ship memorabilia festoon the walls (bulkheads) On the Cask Marque Ale Trail and justifyably so. A large dining area implicit of popularity with foodies. Superb views from without and attentive staff (Shai, very amenable)

Always go in here when on holiday. Pet friendly. Good food great staff. Large outdoors play frames for kids.

Food was lovely… Cajun chicken sizzles. Chicken cooked to perfection. Four lovely diners. Staff lovely… would recommend.

Not bad, the breakfast is very good, the rooms very clean, have tea and coffee in each room, with its private bathroom, which is also very neat. It has a terrace and bar, it also has free parking.

Cosy budget accomodation. The inn pub is your typical pub including sumptuous pub food and atmosphere. Recommended if you're passing through. Serves as a good base to tour the surrounding Jurassic Coast. Durdle door is a close 20 minute drive.

This is a dog friendly pub. The food was nice, but did take a while to arrive. As a bonus they also do doggy ice cream for your four legged friend.

Fantastic family pub! Great food, great atmosphere and really welcoming even to the 4 legged members of the family. Nothing too much trouble!

Typical expensive pub… bar full of what appeared to be local people giving you very little room to be served very expensive ale of no distinction whilst breathing in the fumes of electro "e-cigarettes "… yeuk. I drank my one pint and Jacqui finished off her tonic water to not come back again. Admittedly they won't be bothered by my distaste for their pub but The Bridge down below is a better value pub with what appears to be nicer people…

Fantastic pub with great food, service and beer. The venue is nicely divided into a food side and a drinking side and there is a good sized beer garden with kids play area. Live bands are put on on weekends and twice a year there are music festivals held there.

Nice selection of ales and a cosy corner for us to sit, wife liked the fairy lights! Ha ha.!

We came here as we were staying in a nearby holiday park and didn't want to drive. First impression was a bit dark and dingy! We decided to sit outside instead. The food was alright, nothing to rave about but no real complaints. The service was fine. We were going to have a dessert but seeing the price (£5.25) and after a rather mediocre meal we decided we wouldn't bother as it seemed a bit expensive for what was actually being served. Also, they let people vape inside the pub. Whilst some people may not have a problem with that, I personally find it a bit off putting. I probably wouldn't be in a rush to return there as it wasn't anything special.

Have been going to Weymouth for my summer hols for several years now and we always visit the Spice Ship. In fact, after my last trip I found seven receipts in my wallet. Good food, good sized portions, good beer, good rear garden with play area for kids. Friendly staff.

Traditional pub with a good atmosphere and a great feel to it. Friendly staff, a decent range of ales and the the food is of a reasonable standard with a fairly extensive menu. Sizable beer garden out the back which is great on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
