If there was a sixth the hotel would deserve it. The most friendly warm and comfortable Hotel we've ever stayed in. Staff are second to none. Lovely view from our bedroom window.

Reasonable food. Good carvery for price although not always cooked great — ie hard, undercooked potatoes and veg, Yorkshire puddings that are gross! Waiting times at bar often far too long with staff tidying up and ignoring waiting customers. Manager needs lessons in the hospitality trade (never met anyone so sour and rude! ) The place is so incredibly & unbearably hot and without airflow. Definitely in need of some air conditioning units. Lovely outside seating area overlooking the river. Beautiful setting — management just need to make the most of this, upgrade staff and make inside more comfortable to use and not overbearing and uncomfortably hot it ruins an evening.

Good menu choice. Had a warm goats cheese tart with side salad. Not bad. Could probably have been improved with a light oil dressing. Mains were usual pub fare with fries or carvery. They do a reasonable Eton Mess in a large glass. Felt the loos let the place down somewhat at the time of visit. Service was cheery and brisk. Easy to park at the rear of the motel.

Very nice hotel. We stayed here for a family wedding. The room was at the back facing the river. The weather was very hot but we were advised not to have the windows open at night because of the flying insects. It would have been good to have a fan in the room. Bed was comfortable and clean. There was not much space when two people are trying to get ready and there is a tiny space in the corner with a mirror bit its a bit dark if you want to apply makeup. One of the bar staff a manager I think was very rude and actually upset one of the guests. Be warned that drinks are at London priced. A Captains Morgan's and pint of beer was over £10. I would say it was an okay but expected a bit moor for the price.

Had a Sunday lunch in June which we booked by phone. The staff at every opportunity were friendly and helpful. We sat outside due to the great weather and the waitress was accomodating. We ordered at the bar and when we returned a beer due to it being at the end of the barrel, it was swapped quickly for anything else with no questions asked. The food was fairly prompt when not from the carvery and looked fantastic. We ordered the Caesar salad which was plentiful and very good for under £10. The anchovies were carefully placed around the outside in case diners aren't keen on them. The carvery meals were also delicious and the chef's were happy to provide plenty of meat if you asked. Recommend the quince gin and elderflower tonic if you find yourself there!

I do the carvery here quite a lot. Food is good lovely staff. I have also stayed in the hotel which is very clean and comfortable also very affordable.

Carvery was lovely though the plates were too hot and I'm disabled but couldn't find anyone to help me back for the table which became a struggle. The food itself was excellent however for the price, the view of the river made the dinner even nicer. It was our second visit and we will definitely return again.

First visit here and will definitely be back. We had a breakfast and for the money it cost was outstanding value, with great selection. The dining room was very nice and clean, the atmosphere was relaxed and staff good. Being a lovely sunny morning the doors were open onto the lovely patio overlooking the river. We cannot wait to return.

I had a lovely experience down at the bridge house carvery. Even though it was rammed to the rafters with hungry customers every member of staff was speaking with such great attitude. One special mention to the young chap on the car very deck who I have a delightful chat with every Monday evening; best member of staff there as always slices quality pieces of meat and always makes time for a chat with the customer, no matter how busy or stressed he is.

Basic hotel and good for short stay. Our room was ground floor and roadside and near to entrance and reception and quite noisy. Restaurant provided good value all you can eat breakfast buffet and good value dinner.

Good views from the room and absolute silence in hours of rest. The restaurant is on a good level and the team is very friendly and helpful.

A great place to eat and stay. With river views from the restaurant and some of the rooms. My cousin and his wife stayed there for 4 nights and said it was excellent. They had a river view room and loved the carvery. Prices are very reasonable. Another member of the family booked in for tow nights and stayed for three due to being snowed in. She was amazed at the wild birds she saw from her river view room. She even saw a kingfisher. Now she wants to come back in April, she liked it so much.

Visit this place and stay at this place before everyone knows about it. I've not stayed overnight here or eaten here, but I will do. It's on the to do list. Interesting the actor Telly Savalas used to own it.

Parking available at the front and back. Disabled parking is also available at the front. We went for breakfast on a Sunday morning and it was quiet. I suspect this was due to it being very early in the year. The food was very good with a full English Breakfast buffet and cereals, bread, fruit and even salmon all for £6.99. I feel this was good value. Being able to sit at a table by the windows to be able to look out at the river made the experience that extra bit special. Highly recommend the breakfast and although I have not experienced the carvery, if it's as carefully selected and cooked as well as the breakfasts, then I would definitely return one day to experience it.

Popped in for a carvery. It's cheaper than a toby and the food is better quality and all elements were cooked to perfection. The only let down were the "roast potatoes" flavour and texture suggested they have been deep fried. The waitress says they go in the oven, but over 20 years a chef myself… I know what a roast potato looks and tastes like and what a deep fried potato looks and tastes like. Regardless of this though, the meal was nice, decor lovely and staff friendly. Will certainly be back.

Great stay, beautiful hotel, rooms contemporary and chic, would make for a great romantic weekend away. Very professional and friendly staff. LOVED new antique market as well worth a visit for locals and travellers alike. Well organised, sensibly priced stalls, bright airy place and gorgeous cafe. Not like the usual flea-pits you find in the antiques market world.

I've not been for a while and was pleasently surprised by the update. Far more contemporary and very nice surroundings. Plenty of parking, nice staff and really good food for our party of 10. Would recommend.

Very easy to find, our room was at the front right by the main entrance, and just before midnight we had singing (if you can call it that), not too sure if the windows are double glazed but I would suggest looking into this. Evening meal we had the carvery, would not recommend this option due to the only thing edible was the roast beef and horseradish sauce (roast potatoes were reheated, veg were more or less raw, stuffing balls tasted as if they had been deep fried, and Yorkshire puddings looked and tasted as if they were from the previous day). All you can eat breakfast: — hash browns were dry, baked beans were stodgy, and where was the tea or coffee (nowhere to be seen, although cups and saucers were on the tables). Beds were comfortable although extremely soft on the edges.

We were lucky with parking but it did get difficult to park for others. Nice venue, had a great time. Location was good.

We went for an all you can eat breakfast and it was fantastic. Very friendly staff and the breakfast tasted very fresh, including plenty of fruit, cereals, fruit juices and coffee/tea. Much better than Toby Carvery/Beefeater/Harvester all you can eat buffet breakfasts. Will definitely go again.

Stayed overnight as flying from Bournemouth. Food and service very good also able to leave our car with them for the week free of charge. Stayed in a large family room. Let down was the several spider webs with spiders in residence on the ceiling in our room, fully visible not in the corners so not sure how they were missed (hubby removed) and also a web and spider on the ceiling over the bar. Again fully visible. En-suite was little dated and Cld have benefited from a bit of a update (re grout at least). Having said that if we were flying from Bournemouth again would be happy to stay here.

Carvery food at a reasonable price. The place was extremely busy when we visited but the staff managed to fit us in. The fare was the standard 3 meat, carved joint variety. Portions were generous. All in all value for money.

Great staff, great food. Amazing breakfast and new retro place next door. Lovely views and free parking. Fab place.

Booked a last minute family birthday meal for 12 people. Staff were friendly, we were told our table wasn't ready, but we could order drinks while we waited for our table in the library. Nobody told us our table was ready, and after 30minutes we had to find somebody to ask. When we ordered food, the staff were not very helpful, they took our order and left us sitting there. We hadn't visited before, and didn't know you went to the carvery area to get plates, so we waited. Food was nice (aside from the potatoes), served hot. We were overcharged on the bill, but this was refunded with no quibble.

I am afraid this gets just the one star from me and for multiple reasons to. The food wasn't nice, cold chips, onions rings were as hard an every day metal ring (s), and although the steak was rare which was why I asked for, it just didn't taste nice at all. My bed had a giant indent in the mattress, you can think of the reasons why a mattress would have a have a giant circular indent right on the middle for yourself…! I was there for two nights and honestly I have never seen more spiders in one room over two nights before. I think I may of come across around 12 or 13 over the two nights, not a good idea for those of you who hate spiders. This stay in particular was a business related stay and my colleague also had similar negative feelings towards this hotel in his room. No mattress indent for him and not as many spiders but still, he felt the same way towards the food and encountered a few eight legged freaks himself! On a positive note, there was a secure car park and the room looked nice until you discover your sharing it with things that have more than two legs.

Booked for an 'all you can eat' breakfast £6.99 Lovely breakfast with a gorgeous view over the river. Beautiful food, plenty of it. Only complaint would be that the coffee/teas were slow. (we had finished eating when the drinks arrived).

Courteous service, friendly helpful staff. Food hot, when appropriate. Would like to see more vegetarian options On the menu.

Keenly priced and a nice outlook. Service good food very good value. Plenty of delicious Turkey Beef or Gammon. Would recommend if you want a change from the Toby Carvery.

Best breakfast for miles. All u can eat for £6.99… fry up, croissants, grapefruit, cereals, fruit, yogurts, choc or blueberry muffins, preserves & toast, as much tea, coffee, orange or apple juice that u need. Amazing views, inside or outside eating, great waitresses… a wonderful start to the day! You won't get better value.

The Bridgehouse is a very nice place to stay overnight with a beautiful river running by it. The staff are polite and helpful and the room was a decent size if a bit subdued in its decor. The breakfast downstairs in the dinning room was good but again it could do with a makeover to give it a bit of personality. Still, a very pleasant stay.

Location suited purpose of gathering for breakfast meeting. The facility was 1st class & food excellent & plentiful. The staff were charming & could not of been more helpful & friendly.

Visited the Bridge House for their carvery, which I had heard good things about. We were not disappointed! We hadn't booked, which nearly proved to be a mistake, but they were able to find us a table. Service was good and the meal was tasty. Facilities were clean and tidy, as was the restaurant. Would certainly visit again, being sure to book!

Experience was okay. The Carvery was alright but the meat was somewhat chewwy. The rest of the food was good though. The staff were quite loud and got confused with our large drinks order.

Lovely service and beautiful view. My expectations were exceeded by a surprising amount. Enjoyed eating there! Would go again!

We visited for Sunday Carvery lunch with friends on 8 November 2015 and enjoyed a jolly good lunch. The choices were, Ham, Turkey, Beef, (you can choose to have two meats) together with a wide selection of potatoes and vegetables. The food was very good value, the surroundings cosy and warm. Staff were helpful and attentive. We would recommend The Bridge House to friends and others. We were out that way again on 11 November and had another meal there. Very happy on second visit. Will bear it in mind for further lunches… either carvery or from the menu.

Apsolutely appauling treated, my daughter took her and her children and partner here a place where we use to go many years ago and holds alot of memories, and a 4o plus women started get very abusive about my grandchildren and asked the manager if my daughter could be moved, what for havin children in what is suppose to be a child friendly enviroment, the women I hasen to add had finished her meal, the women got very abusive and manhandled two of my grandchildren so obviously that really upset my daughter, and it all got out of hand the manager wouldnt give his name the staff was sniggerin at my daughter, I rang up later on to ask to speak to the duty manager, and was informed there wasnt one, not a duty manager in a place like that I carnt believe it, she then replied your one of them arnt you from earliar in which I replied one of them what do you mean I wish to speak to the duty manager please what is your name in which she replied, your not speakin to me like this, like what I asked I am as a potential customer askin too speak with somone that is charge in which she put down the phone to me, what happened to customer service. I will presuein this I can assure you. What happened to the old friendly bridge house and politeness and customer service.

Delighted today to see new faces made very welcome by Yousef (Restaurant Manager) The Carvery not only was excellent value for money but the meat was cooked perfectly and everything was so nice and hot. A credit to you all. The bar and waiting staff were also very pleasant and nothing too much trouble. Thank you all so much for a delightful lunch. Pam Anthony.

Great relaxing stay. Superb buffet style breakfast i. E help yourself as much as you can eat. Carvery best I have ever had. Stunning views from bedrooms overlooking the River Stour. Perfect for wildlife spotters and anglers. A perfect base for touring the area.

Staff helpful and pleasant. Room over looking the River Stour, what more could we ask before flying off to Spain, tranquil surroundings. Definately come here again, highly recommended. So clean.
