Called for takeaway coffee whilst walking part of the two-moors way during lockdown. Good coffee at a reasonable price and places to sit around the village square.

Always a very big welcome. Delicious food & felt very covid safe following all guidelines. We never regret going to the mitre for a meal. Always a pleasure.

Had two lovely meals this week. The pumpkin was delicious, as was the Dover sole. Great atmosphere very friendly. Thanks to all x oh yes and not forgetting the amaretti, Ice cream and espresso!

Had a great meal here on Thursday evening. Gorgeous food, a dining room to ourselves and excellent service. Well set up for keeping everyone safe while providing what felt like as normal an experience as possible! Would definitely recommend.

We live in the village and have been getting takeaways from the mitre nearly every week since the lockdown. Every single meal we have had has been delicious (including desserts). Our favourite, the homemade haddock and chips! The batter was perfect, not greasy or too thick and the portion size was more than enough. Tonight we are going to try the meat feast pizzas!

We have been visiting from Plymouth for the week and visited Tursday for curry night and again tonight for burger night. The food is incredible, couldn't recommend enough. The couple who run the pub are lovely and friendly and cant wait to come back!

We spent a wonderful Christmas break with friends at The Mitre. The inn was so beautifully decorated for Christmas with a roaring open fire in the pub area. The hosts Andy and Barbara are very friendly, welcoming good fun and they couldn't do enough for us. The rest of the staff, both in the dinning room, bar and kitchen were very attentive and extremely friendly. The hotel is dog friendly and they have the most lovely well behaved dogs Bodie and Doyle. The bedrooms are very comfortable and clean and provide tea and coffee making facilities. The food is truly lovely and plenty of it and the breakfast choice and service was 1st class. We couldn't fault anything and look forward to more regular visits in the spring and summer. Thank you all xx.

The food is so good here, it ought to have a Michelin star. I’ve just eaten the Chateaubriand and it was perfect! Also great service. Highly recommended :-)

Just had a fantastic 2 night stay. Walking the two moors way and after a long hot day of walking the Mitre n was a welcome sight. We were looked after so well and made to feel totally at home. The food was excellent, great selection, well cooked and well presented.

Very friendly and amazing food.

We are really new to this village and this delightful and welcoming pub is just 122 yards from our new home. The night we moved in to Witheridge my family and I ate in the pub and were made to feel so at home by Barbara, Karen and Ryan. We loved the food and the traditional country feel to the pub. We then took our friends to the pub for lunch this past Saturday, they'd surprised us from London and we had the most delicious burgers we've had for ages and those chips, wow, absolutely the best chips ever. Caroline had the brownies for pudding and loved every luxurious mouthful. We're so lucky to have this fabulous pub on our doorstep and look forward to so many more memorable meals in the time to come. Barbara our compliments to you chef! You have an amazing team around you too. See you soon :)

We had our wedding reception here. Barbara, Andy & staff were very accommodating with all of our needs from b&b (most of our guests stayed), beautiful wedding meal & evening buffet through to our very specific table plan and decorating arrangements. Everything was just so perfect, not even one incy wincy hiccup. A most memorable day was had by all.
