Lovely pub, very welcoming landlord and good pub food at a great price! We did a pub stop here last night (with 3 campervans) Would definitely recommend if looking for somewhere in this area :-)

We’re a party of 6 adults & 3 kids, we ate here on a Saturday night, the staff were very welcoming and the food was perfect. We liked it so much we came back on the Sunday for their Roast, again it was delicious. We also tried their takeaway pizzas one night, which again were great… thoroughly recommend this place.

The warmest welcome on Christmas Day. They made us feel like friends not visitors. The beer was excellent.

We stopped fir sunday dinner, great home made food, a very friendly welcome too. And a cosy to log fire is a bonus. Will def go back.

Great little pub with a fantastic atmosphere and great staff. They made us feel so welcome and really couldn’t do enough. We had a lovely time playing board games as a family and the landlady even gave my 8 year old a game of pool (patience of a saint). Definitely will be going back.

Stayed here for a wedding at the Highbullen, and it was a perfect location (just book a cab home in advance). Clean and homely cottage and a superb breakfast to help the hangover the next morning!

Love this place, allways a warm welcome, atmosphere is brilliant and food is fantastic, beer in kept beautifully, I highly recommend it.

This is a proper working pub situated in a 600 year old building. It is run by owners Andy and Dee with great enthusiasm, they have developed their b & b and holiday let business over the past few years through hard work. The menu was small which is understandable as the owners do everything themselves and the food was particularly good. We were made welcome by our hosts and locals alike and enjoyed our 2 night stay very much.

The proprietors (Andy and Dee) are very welcoming, obliging and nothing is too much trouble, even our dog was treated like a lord. Dee does really good home cooking, everything cooked from scratch. The pub is very old and they have kept the essence of a genuine friendly country pub. Its rooms are spotless. Thank you both for such a good time, we added another day. 12 months later and we have returned. Again what a lovely reception. My husband and I really rate this place, the proprietors and prices very highly. And yet again, well cooked food and plenty of it. At least a 5* rating again from us and the dog.

I am staying here for 2 nights as I am working in Barnstaple, the rooms are exceptionally clean, the landlord and landlady are great and the food is amazing, really I can’t rate this place highly enough, I will be back here for a few nights away with the wife.

Nice place in a laid back rural location though you need to Drive.

We stayed in the car park in our motorhome we had a evening meal and a few drinks in the pub very nice food and we and our 2 dogs were made very welcome thank you.

Friendly, welcoming small hotel, stayed in cottage which was clean and furnished to satisfactory standard with items that allows a traveller to be self sufficient if required. On site food was good with a moderate selection for all tastes.

A friendly, welcoming bar with good food and helpful owners (thanks again Andy for that lift to the wedding venue — and getting us organised with a taxi back. Much appreciated! ). The breakfast is a great start to the day too. Our cottage was lovely, clean, warm, would certainly stay again next time we're in Devon.
