Very Disappointed, as I am a part disabled person, I phoned before booking a room just to onfirm they could provide me with a disabled friendly room, but when I arrived at the hotel they gave me a standard room Without any facility to cater for my needs had I could not even shower throughout my stay. Had I not bought a friend with me, it would have been a total Disaster throughout my stay there, so im completely disatisfied with the false information. I was given hence the 1 star staff was friendly which was the only plus point unfortunately.

The hotel could do with a face lift, needs brightening up, more vibrant colours. Food is ok, but otherwise NOT value for money. Won't be staying there again. Quite disappointed to be honest…

Very, very friendly staff. Should have been warned lift was out of action but out of their control. Room tidy and good facilities except water pressure 15-20minutes to run a bath … shower useless. Reported nothing done. As a present from our kids slightly upset and feel wasted our voucher. Good job the weather was great.

My mother stays here. It is renowned for its interesting vegetable combinations. Fish with red cabbage… in fact I believe red cabbage to be their signature dish.

Pleasant hotel in a quiet location. My single room was to a good standard small but comfortable. Found one of the sliding shower doors had a tendency to stick but it never bothered me. The in room phone I unplugged because during the night one idiot decided to buzz my room randomly as you can call other rooms… food was of a good standard breakfast was the usual but nothing wrong there… entertainment was a bonus and of good quality… and found the staff very pleasant… in all a nice experience.

Staff are friendly but the hotel is old and needs a good refresh our room was a little small and had mold on the walls and in the bathroom. Cleaning staff need rehiring as our hotel room had an empty beer can under the bed and they didn't replace toiletries we used. It is dog friendly though for £5 a night.

A bit quite but very enjoyable, Good food. The staff are very friendly and can not do enough for you. Very good value for the time of year.

The position is great. Staff generally very good and obliging. Rooms comfortable and clean. Food basic.

I have stopped here on several occasions I stopped last August and booked for February 2018 we went down at Xmas and the experience was awful room above dragging draws about, walking up and down till early hrs of morning complained to night manager recorded it this went on further two nights. So cancelled February and guess what they kept my deposit re let the room as far as I’m concerned won’t ever go back and the food was sub standard also alright if you have no dentures and over an appropriate age if you complain you’re a nuisance we have every right to complain as we are paying to stay there, you wouldn’t accept these conditions at your own home so why put up with it elsewhere. The manager reimbursed me £50 he accepted the problem only to deny it later but still robbed me of my deposit of £50 for February and said that deposits are not returned.

Rooms are modern & warm! Food was great. Good value for mobey great value for money. But Andrew the night porter has made this experience so great and he has exceeded all expectations me and my partner will be back v. Soon! Thank you xx.

Hotel fine very old clientele, I'm in my fifties and I felt young. Staff nice and friendlyhotel clean but dated. Entertainment aimed at the age-group who seemed to be staying at the time we stayed.

Nice family owned hotel off main roads. Attended xmas do, 100 plus people, staff coped very well & properly trained. Turkey not so good though, tasted like pre-pack. Starter smoked salmon excellent & xmas pud.

I stayed at the Anchorage with my partner for 4 nights as part of a coach tour. I was apprehensive when I read some of the reviews bit I found the hotel very good value for money. The public areas were newly decorated and the food was very good. Dinner and breakfast were buffet style and most people, including the large Dutch party, enjoyed them. There is a lift, but several fire doors. The room overlooked the pool and was very pleasant. Plenty of tea coffee and biscuits as well as toiletries. However, a few of our party were disappointed by the standard of the single rooms which had not been refurbished. The entertainment was quite loud and not really of a high standard, but you can't please everyone. I often think some negative reviews are written with a view to obtaining a refund. Taxi to Torquay about £6 but I was told there is public transport nearby.

So bad it's hard to know where to begin… if you like hostel standards for your room then you wont be disappointed. Mouldy windows… broken beds… bad state of repair throughout. Even when they upgraded us the toilet seat was split and water damaged a d the bed base was mouldy… simply not acceptable to be called a hotel.

Excellent food good hospitality good entertainment. Hotel very clean rooms excellent. Staff very friendly went out of their way to help in any way they were able. Looking forward to going again in the not to distant future. They even had a swimming pool.

Appalling, absolutely appalling… having been informed by the receptionist on Saturday there was availability for a disabled wheelchair bound person from the beginning of this week, when I phone this morning, Monday, I'm told there is no room available until the beginning of September in the most offhand manner by the manager. Apparently the receptionist 'got it wrong' … no sorry, nothing… I live in Torbay and only needed a little respite from my house as it's unsuitable for me at the moment. If I could give this uncaring establishment zero stars I would. There are plenty of top top hotels in the Bay, avoid this uncaring one st all costs.

The downstairs of the hotel is very attractive, the food was lovely and we really enjoyed our cooked breakfast every morning. Unfortunately we were a little disappointed in our room for the price we were paying. Our bathroom door wouldn't shut, our toilet seat wasn't fitted properly and kept slipping and our duvet case was ripped the entire time we were there. We feel the pictures used online are a little misleading. We then found a little tank of nitrous oxide under our bed which is an illegal high. We then handed this into reception but didn't feel this was taken seriously. The staff were very helpful and friendly but we didn't feel happy paying the amount that we did for our stay.

Beutiful hotel excellent staff and nice calming atmosphere.

Basic hotel badly in need of a refurb. Our room was tiny and damp. Reception staff were polite and friendly but older lady in the breakfast room was abrupt and rude. £5 dog surcharge that was not advertised on the online booking.

Handy near Plainmoor for watching TUFC the reason for my visit. All good.

Stayed a couple of weeks ago whilst on a trip for work. The hotel it's self is quaint and relaxed. It is located well and within easy reach of everything. I found the staff to be very welcoming, polite and made an effort with the guests. The breakfast was a self service buffet style and I must say, the best bacon I have had in a long while :) The evening food was amazing! I opted for the Steak, now I am really fussy with food, but this was truly amazing and cooked to perfection. I love the way the staff and chef all make an effort to speak with the guests and get to know them. The hotel itself looks like it has not long been refurbished. I feel a little more maybe needed to bring it up to date (a slight dusty smell in the main area) but to be honest you kind of expect it with the older buildings. I was really pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. Will definitely be coming back this year :)

Visited anchorage hotel to meet a client for the day. Staff were extremely helpful, friendly and polite. The hallway and dining room was also clean. Would recommend.

Just returned from an amazing visit to this Hotel cant find enough good things to say about it. This Hotel ran by 3 brothers is amazing and their staff are exceptional and couldn't do enough to help. Rooms 10/10, Food 10/10, Staff 15/10. Everybody I had contact with were amazing during my stay here. The most amazing person was the young woman on reception on Saturday afternoon I asked her for directions to the local model village and rather than just tell me them she wrote everything done with incredible accuracy and I found it with no problems at all that to me is going above and beyond. Thanks again to the owners and their INCREDIBLE STAFF.

Brilliant get-away, amazing duvet and pillows. Good location, nice breakfast and friendly staff what more can you ask for.

Overall, OK. Service in the restaurant though was terrible. We were seated for 40 mins whilst eating and not once asked if we'd like a drink.

Pleasant hotel, excellent price, good complementary breakfast. Roomy hotel with lounges and bar etc. Rooms small but reasonable.

I recently stayed here for a Naval reunion and have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Yes it is a budget hotel but the rooms are clean and the service given would not be out of place in a much more swankier establishment. Many Thanks to Simon, Zac and of course Xavier! I'll be returning next year. M.

We stayed here with a group of 14 others and had a great time. Rooms were clean and comfortable but if you have a problem with stairs ask for a ground floor room or one serviced by the lift. Breakfasts were excellent and rest of the food was good too. It's a very good area with plenty to do, St Marychurch being particularly good. Nice pool was an added bonus.

I stayed here at the beginning of June for two nights on business and was very impressed. The spacious room was spotlessly clean, quiet and provided more than enough towels — the bed was so good I wanted to take it home (6’ wide! ). The en-suite was of a very high quality. There was a tray with tea, coffee and Hot Chocolate and all the usual little extras. The staff were friendly and were attentive with requests. The only slight negative was the breakfast was served from 8.30am. Suitable for individuals or families — highly recommended.

I recently stayed at this hotel. To begin with it took 4 phone calls before I was finally sent a confirmation email of my booking. On arrival I was told that I wouldn't be able to have breakfast the next morning, because I needed to leave before 8.30am to get to my first appointment. After a very long and busy day, it was quite late when I booked in. I was left to find the room on my own, with no offer to help me with my luggage. The room was in a very poor state. The furniture was cheap, worn and stained. There was plaster coming off the walls in 2 places and the debris was left on the carpet. I couldn't use the kettle or cup because they were so stained. The vase of dried flower that were place by the kettle were caked in sticky dust. The skirting boards and window sill were thick with dust and the bathroom was a real eye opener! The shower was stained with yellow patches with brown hairs in the tray and the taps on the sink were caked in yellowing limescale. But the worst was still to come, the bed was so lumpy and uncomfortable that I had to fold the duvet in half and put it onto the mattress. I still only managed to get a couple of hours sleep. I was so glad that I had only booked in for one night and decided to mark it down as somewhere that I would never stay again. On checking out, I told the member of staff working on the Reception, who didn't look at all surprised and not at all bothered.

We had a fantastic short break. The hotel, meals and service were excellent. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We would recommend the hotel to anyone.
