Lovely welcome on arrival. Fabulous room overlooking the estuary. So good to be back.

Just feasted on the best quack and crackle I’ve ever tasted! Compliments to the chef, your duck is dazzlingly! The Mackerel with Rhubarb was distinctive and mouth watering too! Shout out to the contemporary use of botanicals, eloquently elevating!

Lovely hotel with great food and fantastic staff. Only downside was a super hard mattress and it's down some super narrow lanes (take a small car! ) We would still go back again mind!

This is such a nice looking and appointed hotel in beatuiful Salcombe. We have only been to the restaurant. When we went last night we sat at a table for two worth a lovely sea view. The service and menu selections all sounded very appetizing. The meals came promptly and looked wonderful. The starters were a little meagre, three tiny scallops for £12, not a great start. But the main course was rich and fulfilling so overall very pleasant.

Had so many recommendations about this hotel, however walked in today with a 15 month old baby on my back asking if they could call me a taxi as my pregnant wife and I completely misjudged the length of a walk along the coast. They refused on the basis that they needed to keep the line open for incoming calls. Was intending to go for dinner there, but won’t bother now.

Ate lunch at the restaurant today and it was adequate verging on unpleasant. The food is very overpriced for what you get. The fish and chips was £18 which would have been fine if the chips weren't both burnt and soggy and the fish fairly standard (no seasoning in the batter) — For £18 I would have expected much better. We would have enjoyed something from the local chippy a lot more! Not only was the food poor but the staff were rude and extremely unfriendly. Even the manager ignored us when we said goodbye. I just don't understand why this place was so bad when the location has such potential. The decor was lovely and everything was very clean and well kept. However we wanted quality food and warm friendly service which they definitely did not deliver.

Two of us took the ferry from Salcombe and called into the hotel on 13 June 2018 for a bar lunch on the balcony. We had a crab sandwich and a cheese sandwich and one glass of wine which cost over£40, so we expected good quality. The sandwiches were awful, a thin sliver of crab between 2 bread doorsteps; and strange coloured minced cheddar also between 2 bread doorsteps. For the price this was disgraceful, the worst I’ve had. I’ll never go there again.

Over Rated, if you like a carrot.

Me and the wife spent our 50th birthday treat to each other there, you can't fault the place and breakfasts in the morning were fantastic.

My sister had her wedding here. Brilliant venue.

Lovely hotel literally on the beach, staff were friendly and the breakfast was lovely. Very impressed with everything, would definitely recommend.

Just fabulous. Stayed in a room on the front, with access to the beach. Actually more of an apartment than a room. Really nicely decorated, stunning views and helpful staff. Went to Salcombe for food so not sure about the restaurant but highly recommended.

Lovely hotel right next to a nice little beach, great for a relaxing short break and it's also in a good place to visit other great beaches / places nearby.

Delightful boutique hotel on the edge of the Salcombe estuary glorious views friendly service. Relaxed and a well hidden gem. Roaring fire the winter. I don't know what the accommodation is like as I have never stayed there.

We recently visited the hotel and had dinner which was very nice and a lovely setting. My only fault was the price I was charged for a glass of Pimms with lemonade at £12 and not even Pimms! in the town itself I was charged £15 for a Jug that is a lot of difference in my opinion. So if we visited again that would not be on my order!

Lovely setting and nice menu options. Unfortunately the service we experienced was very slow, perhaps due to use of holiday staff (understandable)

Had dinner here. Very expensive for what it is. Great view but average food and service. Expect to pay nearly twice what you'd pay for​ an equivalent meal in humbler surroundings.

Beautiful location on the quiet edge of Salcombe, the jewel in South Devon's crown. We come every year & it never fails to deliver. Highlight? The cheeriest little passenger ferry, The South Sands Ferry!

Lost count of the number of times we have been to this lovely hotel. Back there yesterday for our wedding anniversary having held our wedding weekend there four years ago. The food we had for lunch yesterday was as high quality as the wedding breakfast four years ago. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, especially considering the various allergies our little ones have. Have never been disappointed by this hotel in the many years we have been visiting. Highly recommended!

We never tire of this lovely hotel and setting. We have stayed several times over the years. This time was the first time with our new doggie in tow and we couldn't have been made more welcome. Doggies are even allowed in part of the restaurant. Thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Wonderful and quaint, nice sand for the children.

My partner treated me to a Birthday meal, and it is one I shall never forget. With the tide high and a full moon reflecting on the water, our window seat was incredibly romantic. The food was delicious, the waiters friendly and incredibly helpful, we only wished we'd booked a room for the night!

Four of us went for a celebratory birthday meal in this lovely beachside hotel. Unfortunately the distinctly unfriendly staff somewhat spoiled what would otherwise have been a great evening. The meal was delicious, the décor ‘seasidey’ and attractive but after we had paid the bill (reasonable) and got up to leave no-one approached us to thank us, ask if we had enjoyed the evening/meal, wished us well or said they hoped to see us again soon. These small touches are what encourages customers to return but I suppose in the South Hams at the height of the season the staff are mainly students who probably aren't either particularly well trained or paid. We all like to feel our custom is valued and on this occasion we certainly didn't leave with that impression.

A valentines to remember, from the desk to the beautiful elegantly dressed room, friendly bar huge comfortable fire, the restaurant promises to be just as wonderful. " pssst. I intend to shower in the huge cubicle and even if its straight after, I will bathe in the claw slipper bath! It's big enough for two at least. " This is a smashing hotel, we have a view of the bay… I am in heaven, we will return again definitely. I simply had to add more as the restaurant was wonderful, food worth every penny (expensive but worth it) wine list excellent and the service exemplary. We had a spectaculsr sea view. The champagne deliciousness it's self.

Had a lovely meal here Saturday night. We started with a civilized cocktail at the bar, then were shown to a comfortable table in a back corner of the restaurant. Staff were only too happy to accommodate the young infant in our party. The menu is conventional, ably executed with quality ingredients. I had a hearty, rare t-bone steak, accompanied by amazingly tasty roast potatoes, finished off with a lemon creme brulee. There were only a few small hitches: our first choice of wine from the list wasn't available. The steak, while tender enough, would have been easier going with a steak knife. The peppercorn sauce didn't taste much of pepper.

Went to lunch with 4 friends the week it opened and was very impressed. Back again last week, food awful, staff not at all switched on and what on earth were a load of high chairs and other clutter doing lying all over the floor in the corner of the restaurant? No member of staff given our table so we were served by everyone, so things were missed or forgotten. The season is ahead, so time to get your act together as it gets very busy here on in.
