Lovely place to eat, covid-safe restaurant. Friendly helpful staff. I had the Guinea Fowl … never tried it before… it was delicious, served with a tasty selection of vegetables, cooked to perfection!

Love it here always great food and fantastic service! Covid safe very efficient.

We had a fabulous anniversary meal last night with great service from staff who by and large very young. We had the game terrine starter which was a very generous portion, followed by the seared duck breast and lamb rump served with divine vegetable sides and rounded the meal off with a delicious bakewell tart with clotted cream ice cream. All in all a very memorable meal for all the right reasons!

Had a stay at the Greyhound Saturday 14th March. Room was fabulous, very comfortable bed, very clean. Complimentary toiletries were lovely and good selection of tea and coffee. Meal in the restaurant that evening was superb and breakfast the next morning was excellent! Very friendly pub and staff were lovely. Highly recommended!

Enjoyed a fabulous weekend stay. Very professional and efficient staff serving enjoyable and plentiful breakfast, setting us up for the rest of the day exploring the area. To then enjoy a lovely Christmas menu Saturday evening. Will become an annual event for us no doubt.

We've just had a delicious meal, lovely staff, beautiful interior with lots of original features and the Christmas decorations were so pretty! We had 3 courses and drinks for less than £75.00, which considering the standard of the food was exceptional value! Can't fault any of it!

We had the pleasure of staying at the Greyhound end of 29th July for 2 nights. The staff were so lovely especially Tina who is a fantastic ambassador for the Hotel, we chose the hotel because we had our dog with us, they were so accommodating and even had an area to sit for dinner with you furry friend, the food was excellent, will definately be returning.

Exceptional staff here, extremely pleasant and efficient. Lovely food, we had the steak pie and it was one of the nicest pub meals we have had. Incredibly good background music making this a really relaxing place to eat and drink.

Great food and service — perhaps a little pricey for gastro pub but you pays you money… Great selection of wines too and possibly the best steak and ale pie ever. Both starters and main courses indicates that the chef doesn’t hold back on the salt though!

The breakfast was amazing with a gorgeous view of a waterfall extremely friendly and helpful staff. Would highly recommend! I would suggest that instructions for the coffee machine is added to the rooms and that the Wi-Fi code is put in the room. Everything else was bang-on.

Would recommend. Lovely, quality grub although the portion size of the shepherds pie was a on the small size for £15.

Very friendly staff, excellent food particularly the home made pizza, wonderful breakfast, proper beer on pump, very comfortable surroundings, king room lovely, can’t fault the place, we will be back. Thank you Tina and Paul.

We stayed this weekend and paid £150 for a night we were exspecting a really nice room but premier inn would have been nicer we found blonde hair in the bed, the shower was blocked as it started over flowing the toilet seat had wee on we also learned that for breakfast it was a further £14 each which is disgusting considering how much to stay is I wont be recomending it to anyone very dissapointed.

Had to wait ages for food order on our first night in the beautiful village, then to be told she had missed MY meal off the order, we HAD by the way paid for it, consequently, by the time I got my meal, the rest of the party had finished, we were staying in the village on holiday, but did not return to the Grey Hound again during our stay.

I should be clear: Four stars is *very good* — I dont think there was anything wrong with The Greyhound at all but I reserve five stars for the best of the best. Would you stay at a five star hotel? In a heartbeat. A four star hotel? No hesitation. And I would return to The Greyhound without any hesitation. My Dad and his wife stayed in the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed the accomodation. I ate there in the evening and at lunchtime so had both menus. Both menus were spot on and both parties (without kids in the evening and with at lunchtime) enjoyed all their meals. The Greyhound offer a modern pub selection: steaks, burgers, pizza, fish choices, local lamb. My dad particularly enjoyed the suet pastry on the steak and ale pie; the steaks were cooked perfectly: medium was medium and medium rare was medium rare. In fact everything was how it should have been. Portions were just right for dinner and lunch. I want to say it was all bloody lovely but not sure Facebook will let me :-) Staff were young but on the ball: pleasant and efficient. Perfect for family meals and we'll be back.

Just stayed 2 nights at the Greyhound and we were made very welcome. The rooms were spacious, clean and well equipped the food was very good, even offered wine and Gin tasting. What impressed me the most was that nothing was too much trouble they really couldn't do enough to make our stay perfect.

Beautiful home made blackpudding starter. The Suet beef and ale pie… best I have ever had. Light and not soggy suet casing… delicious. Filling was ample and tasty too. S. Pot on.

Very nice place and friendly staff, called in a little early for food but they weren't ready, cheekily asked if we could park in their parking space landlord kindly said it wouldn't be a problem, went back an hour later for a drink, good selection of drinks on offer.

Lovely pub — spacious, has Hophouse 13 lager on tap! Had a great meal here on a Friday lunch time recently. A really well cooked rump steak with triple cooked chips which were awesome and crispy.

Reinvented Georgian hotel near World Heritage site. Good food & beer.

First visit and I was very impressed. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, some absolutely great beers.

A lovely local pub with warm pies, Me and my grandad came here for a meal and we enjoyed the pie. The pie were made handmade and the chips are delious. The price was a good value for what you get. I would come here again if I'm near by.

Great Sunday lunch. Chicken, pork and veggy option were great, but beef was a little tough. The local beers were definitely worth a try. Also nice to combine visit with a stop off at Scarthin book shop and Cromford Mill/Canal.

Beautiful place beautiful people. My wife and I stayed here for a night on business. We were welcomed by all the staff, they couldn't do enough for us. Friendly but not over powering. The decor is old world and fits in with the small town. The food (we had pie and chips) was delicious. Served in good time. Will be visiting again.

Arrived to a warm welcome shown to our room, very clean and furnished to a high standard,
We required food, a wide range of food on the menu, we had garlic mushrooms and the crab as starters, followed by the Pasta dish, chicken, chorizo in a creamy sauce, followed by the lemon cheese cake with orange sorbet.
Best food I have eaten for a dam long time.
I was very impressed with the food, Michelin star quality with a pub grub price tag!.
Great breakfast too.

It's ok if you like ' modernised' pubs / eateries. Drinks pricey, food not too cheap either.

Really nice atmosphere, very helpful people. Expedia messed my booking up but sorted very quickly by the owner, while I enjoyed a beer at the bar!

Stopped for an excellent meal whilst travelling through the Derbyshire dales. A friendly welcome and a very good fish and chips with whelks and peas pudding.

Had Saturday lunch there. The staff were friendly and helpful dealing with requirements of the 2 ancient members of our party even sorting out some food that wasn't on the menu. Food was excellent as was the service and good selection of beer. Shame I was driving. Would definitely recommend.

Just spent two nights at this lovely hotel. Great position, warm welcome and lovely staff who made our stay really enjoyable. Bedroom was spacious, cosy and comfortable with everything we needed. Modern bathroom. Both rooms recently renovated. Although we booked b&b (breakfast was delicious) we opted to eat evening meal both nights as dining area had a lovely atmosphere with a great menu that had good variety and was very tasty and beautifully cooked. The evenings were rounded off by relaxing in a cosy lounge with drinks brought in by the attentive staff. Well done and thank you for making it a lovely stay and we wouldn't hesitate in returning for another visit.

Fab meal with my family Sunday evening 7.00pm — not many other local places open Sunday evening, so this was a great find!
Wow we all were impressed wiyh this terrific place to eat out and can fully recommend, its definitely worth a visit!

The Greyhound has had a fab recent refurb with exceptional staff and excellent service — not an extensive menu choice, but we regard that as a bonus, and not over priced either. The menu and food flavours were superb, with generous portions and plentiful veg — Red cabbage, cauliflower, green beans and carrots.
