Must be 30 years since I was last here, great pub great food great staff. I will try not to leave it so long next time.

The food was really good the staff were very helpful and pleasant really excellent service.

Very polite and efficient staff, pleased that they didn't refer to us as "you guys"! Very delicious meal, well cooked and presented. Clean and tidy throughout pub and restaurant had lovely ambience and good music.

Wow What a brilliant little find this pub is, Drove round the area with the family and called in for something to eat. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the staff are welcoming, but the food is fantastic with a great choice for gluten free alternatives, the Mrs was very happy to get a gluten free homemade burger. We will be coming back in the summer with the family and I will be calling in next time I’m riding in this area.

Stumbled across this place by accident. Had a quick look at the reviews. Lovely young lady on the bar, very smiley and chatty. Explained card machine was down but gave various options of how to pay if we had no cash. Ordered food, Lamb Henry one of my partners favourite things, it didn't disappoint. I had a risotto which was beautiful. We sat in a little room with 2 sofas by the fire, our perfect place. All in all a very nice find, will definitely be back.

We had the joy of staying at this wonderful B&B. The location was beautiful. Rooms were lovely, they were extremely clean with all the facilities you could need. During our stay we had breakfast, lunch and dinner. Every meal was delicious, great choice of food on the menu and cooked to perfection. We also had drinks from the pub, their choice of drinks were fantastic. The whole establishment is decorated beautifully, it’s cosy, clean throughout and you instantly feel relaxed as soon as you enter (especially having a drink next to the gorgeous fireplace! ) The owners and all the staff were polite, welcoming and attentive. I can’t fault this place, and highly recommend it. If you want a stay in a lovely room, with beautiful surroundings, great staff and tasty food Sycamore Inn ticks all the boxes!

We had our sons 1st birthday party at the pub on Saturday. The function room was perfect. Nice and warm and the bar was well stocked. The buffet was amazing more than enough for everyone. Thank you to all the staff who looked after us. My parents also stayed at the pub for the weekend. This is not there 1st visit they love the pub and Sam and Darren could not do enough for them all weekend.

What a find! We stayed for one night with two dogs. The room was very nice, clean and welcoming. We had a drink in the bar and had our two dogs with us and were made to feel very welcome. Lovely staff who brought water and biscuits for the dogs. Amazing breakfast in the morning with a full English cooked Perfectly and again attention to detail on the table and where we seated were nice touches. Only disappointment was that we did not have a chance to eat in the restaurant! Next time for sure!

Just got back from a nights stay to celebrate my partners birthday. Such friendly and attentive staff going that extra mile to make sure our stay was a good one. Food was fab, great breakfast. And to top it all in a beautiful location. Thanks Sammy and Darren, we will definitely return soon.

Just been to the ever so wonderful Sycamore Inn at Birch Vale. Lovely experience. Outside dining with attentive staff. The food was lovely and well presented but most of all the quality and the taste was spot on. I would recommend this absolute gem of a pub in a heartbeat. Wish I lived closer so my visits could be more often. But it was worth the drive out, so I will be there again and again no doubt!
Thankyou again to all at the Sycamore Inn! The added extras of the one use fleece blankets for warmth and comfort were a thoughtful touch.

Lovely meal out last night! strictly following covid rules, so we felt very safe and comfortable. Outside areas are beautifully done and the atmosphere was fantastic.

We had an alfresco table and room booked for our anniversary and on arrival there were rose petals on the table which was a really thoughtful touch. Despite eating outside the heaters and blankets offered definitely kept us toasty. The staff were friendly and attentive allowing for a relaxed evening even though they were busy. As always the food was stunning and the portion size never disappoints! Our room was beautiful and the bed was so comfy I had the best night sleep!

We booked The Sycamore for a Monday to Friday break in the Peak District. What a wonderful place. All staff were happy and friendly, Sammy and Daz are as nice as they come. Really recommend the food, every meal we had was cooked to perfection and at a great price. Dog friendly too for all you dog lovers (handy for us, as we pick up our new furry addition to the family soon). Smack in the middle of the countryside, so brilliant for walks. The Sycamore have a leaflet with 3 pre-plotted walks circular from the inn. We did the intermediate walk, and the directions were impeccable. 10/10, would definitely go back.

First time we have stopped over in our motor home with friends. Absolutely brilliant. We had 3 dogs with us that were made just as welcome as we were. Great food and drinks. Thanks a million and keep up the good work. We will be back. Xx.

What a wonderful place. We enjoyed a fantastic weekend here while on a walking trip. The rooms are spacious, warm and comfortable. Delightful comfy, big bed and a huge bathroom with quality towels and toiletries. The food is outstanding, we ate dinner, breakfast and lunch and all were fabulous, very generous portions. Nothing is too much trouble including a freshly prepared packed lunch for our hike.

We hosted our daughter's 18th birthday meal there and nothing was too much trouble. The owners and staff were very helpful, pleasant and made sure that the meal was perfect. Everyone loved the food and thoroughly enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere. 10 out of 10!

Just got back from a meal for my Wife's birthday, food was awesome as usual and staff were excellent. They cater for most dietary requirements which is great as my son is a fussy eater! always go the extra mile as well, bring the dog water and treats and even put banners up for my wife! can highly recommend.

The menu has plenty of choice. The food great and a decent choice of beer.

We stayed overnight in their car park in our motor home and ate in the restaurant. The food was gorgeous, the staff were friendly and they allowed us to take the dog in. They even said we could have breakfast, normally only for B&B residents but we had to get off before roads started closing for the Tour

Just home from a 2 night stay for a friends wedding! Their motto we hope all our guests leave as friends is definitely true and lived up to through the staff. Daz and his family couldn’t do enough for you, from booking taxi’s to letting us have a slightly later check out for free after having one too many at the wedding! The room and decor was stunning and all the little touches were considered which made our stay even more enjoyable. Food and drink also fab. We would come back and stay in a heart beat! Xx.

Sammy and Daz went above and beyond to ensure my daughters 18th Birthday ran smoothly. From the initial set up and throughout the whole night they were FANTASTIC hosts! Nothing was too much trouble and I can't recommend them any higher!

Food excellent. Experience spoilt by untrained front staff, sticky tables and broken glass under the table.

We have just got back from a two night stay and it was very clean, conferrable, good food and very friendly staff.

Great friendly service. Tasty food. Nice decor and reasonable prices. Pies were a bit dry unfortunately so that the sauce had vanished. Otherwise very nice and good portions.

Love it here — great local pub, good home cooked food, friendly staff. Indoor and outdoor seating, big car park and they allow dogs.

I celebrated my 40th birthday in The Garden at The Sycamore. We had a bbq and the outside bar was open. The food was amazing. The staff were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble for Sammy and Darren. Would highly recommend!

Dog friendly and very welcoming. Friendly owners who really put customers first. Tastefully decorated recently and good pub food. Cater for large parties at short notice.

Very dog friendly, all the staff showed my dog lots of fuss, and ensured he was comfortable and happy too. Good location. It has lots of lovely walks near by. The rooms are small and a bit dated, but you don't need much room or fancy paint as you're on my sleeping in them. The bed seemed to firm for me, but I slept veey well. The bathroom has been done up to a very nice standard, and modern too. The food was lovely and simple, but in a good way. The only down side would be the garden being down the driveway, by the carpark, and not right outside the door. Obviously not their fault, but thought it should be mentioned for other dog owners visiting. I would happily visit again. Good value for money.

Just spent 4 nights here, and will definitely be returning. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, the food was amazing, the room spacious, everything about it was perfect. So dog friendly too, Jasper was able to join us for meals and was made very welcome, had his own bowl of water and a dog biscuit while we had our food. As vegetarians, my daughter and I had no trouble finding something on the extensive menu, and the cheesecake was the best I've ever tasted. Really recommend this hotel.

Not a good selection of veggie food (2 options) and then food wasnt as described on the menu which then meant I couldnt eat it. They didnt charge us for it though.

An absolutely amazing find, this was our second visit and it was even better than our first. The entire team are brilliant here; from the owners, the front of house and the chefs! Such a welcoming atmosphere where you feel at home within seconds.
Then the food… You can tell it is cooked on site with really well sourced ingredients. The cheesecake of the day was brilliant (on both days we had it. First lemon, the raspberry). The fact that they are dog friendly makes it even better for us. We will be back!

Went here with family for Sunday dinner around 4oclock, we were the only ones there which I was surprised by, good value for money good quality food but was lacking atmosphere for me.

Everyone very friendly and welcoming, very accommodating for our dog making sure she was well looked after too. Great food and great stay. We will definitely be staying again. Definitely live up to their motto "may all our guests leave as friends" Thank you and a woof from Bella.

Lovely local pub with delicious food and great beer selection, including locally brewed Torrside ale. Beautiful location too.

Sycamore inn was a very warm environment the food and drinks were great and the staff were extremely friendly would definitely return in the future.

Our second visit here. First time we loved it. Beautiful food, service etc. We walked from the local campsite. Second time was last night. My birthday. Even better! We were allowed to stay on the car park with friends and had such a great night. The service is fantastic. The food is outstanding and what a great welcome for our dogs. I would highly recommend this place and we’ll definitely be back! ❤️

Excellent location with a proper pub serving great beer, the friendly manager and staff will serve food to your table. If you don't stay in the hotel you can stay in your camper van in the quiet gardens on hard standings under towering trees. The only thing you'll hear are owls at night.

Went for mercian bike show burgers were brill. What we saw of the pub… Toilets. They were nice but 1 of the toilets didn't lock properly and the hand dryer kept stopping so didn't work.

Stayed at Sycamore Pub for the weekend to attend a friends wedding at a nearby farm. Didn't have an evening meal but breakfast was lovely, served fresh and each individual taste. The room was cosy and warm (being in a barn for 11 hours — got a bit chilly). Everything you need is in the room. We felt very welcomed and nothing was too much trouble. Would love to go again without hesitation and next time have a meal, the food looked scrummy that was being served.

Great place lovely food and very freindly staff/owners, we stayed over a weekend in our Motorhome and they were very welcoming. Nice walks from the carpark.

Good food and pet friendly. It was a little expensive though. The drinks added yo the total bill even though we only had a couple each.

Lovely place. We stayed prior to doing the Kinder Trespass Anniversary walk. Food was good — accommodation was good. Made us a pack up to take with us on the walk. Great service. Great place.

We did an 8 mile walk up, over and around Hayfield on a cold dull autumn Sunday. Spotted a flyer for the Sycamore Inn on a gate post on the route so thought we'd give it a try after the walk. So glad we did. We sat in the alcove area beside a roaring fire which was emitting welcoming warmth, which coincided with the warmth received from the staff too. Ordered the steak & ale pie with homemade chunky chips & vegetables. All of it was polished off fully leaving a rather clean plate. Hmmm! Was sat there quietly & contentedly stuffed when we were joined by some locals who were so friendly that I am now contemplating moving to the area!
