Had my 50th birthday meal here back in mid March at first me and my better half at first did think it was a little to pricey but as the night went on we really did enjoy our selves the food was fantastic the service and the staff were just amazing so In the end we changed from a little pricey to well worth every penny and more so when we’re back in Bakewell it’s definitely a return visit o yes we were that full we could not do desert but we sent our up most compliments to all the staff, servers, and chef and my better half she happened to mention it was my 50th and next minute the chef sent out two chocolate brownies and raspberry’s on a plate and also in chocolate wrote happy 50th birthday well that just made our night so thank you to everyone at the Rutland arms and keep doing what your doing as you really can’t improve on perfection hope to see you all again soon.

Brilliant food, the service was amazing and the staff were very friendly. The food was very rich and well thought out (we had Christmas dinner) It was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. Very good value for money, we will be returning. Highly recommend!

Lovely stay. Warm hotel, fun bar staff, good food and pleasant company. Staff helpful and go over and above to help. Very busy as christmas market weekend and felt welcome throughout.

Warm welcome, comfortable room & fantastic breakfast. Bar service was great and the pizza in Juniper was delicious and it had an excellent selection of gin. Room decor was a bit tired, our lamp was broken and we didn't have a luggage rack (although this was rectified immediately) and the shower wasn't very powerful otherwise it would have been a 5* but we will definitely come back!

This is just a nice Derbyshire Hotel to stay in, enjoyable food, friendly staff, a great location!

Friendly staff. Comfy rooms. Reasonable cost. Right in centre of town so everything is easy to get to and there are sufficient local amenities. This is the centre of many local attractions.

Restaurant was empty yet struggled to serve two families correctly. Food wasn't the best at all. The 5 staff that we counted were disorganised and only skilled in smiling and apologizing. Poor service and poor food.

Old fashioned hotel with excellent views and very good good and service. The staff and willing to go out of their way to assist the guests. The hotel is well placed in the town and has a general feeling of quality and peacefulness.

Very good bed! Arrived fairly late which meant that we had to double park in the courtyard until a place became available, otherwise would have left keys with reception. Not so good. Ancient plumbing meant very inconsistent shower. Breakfast good, but involved a walk across a busy road. On the other hand, it is the most central hotel in this charming town.

Friendly staff, great location (as central as it gets). We stayed in a room with a 4 poster bed overlooking the town — lovely! Breakfasts were made quickly and were delicious. Couple of snags: pillows are not brilliant. Very soft and thin, and they didn't have any alternatives. So take your own if you care about nice pillows :-) Plus the TV remote didn't work, but that is probably not normally the case. Overall a great stay!

Hot sunny bank holiday Monday. Everywhere was packed but this was a calm oasis, great service in lovely surroundings and such polite and pleasant service. Wish I had taken the name of the bar manager, he was fabulous!

I have stayed here quite a few times oer the years and while the rooms are great and the hotel itself it very nice, it is not what it once was. The food is good but not great. Recommended but watch out for the parking. That is a very tight location.

We stayed at this hotel on a weekend getaway. This is a lovely hotel in the middle of Bakewell. The room was excellent with a delicious breakfast in the morning. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. I would happily recommend this hotel and would return again when visiting the area.

The staffs are friendly and polite. The breakfast is very good. The room feels cosy and it is very clean. The bed is comfortable.

The hotel is located in the centre of Bakewell. The rooms are a good size, but the showers are not good. It's only a little stream of water. Heating didn't work in the bathroom. Breakfast is good, but rushed as there are not enough tables for the size of the hotel.

Nice food, helpful staff. Only drawback was I was in a room across the road in the courtyard. Rooms themselves were clean, warm and comfy but not so nice to have to battle the rain to go across the road to.
Main hotel for the evening meal. I was here With a rambling group so although I had plenty of waterproofs for day use I didn’t have a personal umbrella to use to cross the road to the hotel for evening meal. It Would be useful if a supply of umbrellas were kept by the doors for times such as the bad weather on my first day for use of guests.
Apart from that I enjoyed a nice three day stay.

Nice Hotel parking can be difficult and showers need to be better. Food very nice and staff helpful. Not a bad hotel just a few minor things that could put you off if you were expecting a 5 star service.

Loved it great breakfast made my doggies welcome set us a table in the pub up for evening meal and breakfast so they could be with us and not locked in the back of the car freezing whilst we ate.

Went for new years eve. Booked 2 rooms, one in the main hotel and one in the courtyard. The double room had a mouldy shower curtain and could do with updating. We were told the rooms had fridges but did not find any. The single room was more modern but definitely a single. If you can't climb stairs I was not book here as there are 2 large flights to contend with. We have not yet experience the evening meal so will update later. Have now finished the 5 course dinner and to be honest was not good. Felt as though we were at a wedding without the bride and groom. Portions very small and quality very low. Not value for money but it is what is. Breakfast was average, sausages overcooked. On a more positive the staff were helpful, just let down by the chefs cooking.

Great service and good food we had our boxing day lunch there. Also very accommodating we were supposed to be going with my parents but they fell ill and had to go home but the manager was really understanding and allowed us to book a another time for my parents to go when recovered which as it was a gift I thought was very good of them so we didn't lose money which we had to pay in advance. The staff were friendly and helpful.

This is a lovely hotel. Amazing room, 4 poster bed, very spacious room, hotel with lots of character! And the adjoining pizza and gin bar is must!

Room avross the road fron hotel was noisy due to constant traffic passing all night. Water pressure was shocking. Overall hotel was very overpriced for services provided.

The town centre location is ideal for visiting Bakewell. My single bedded room, in a building across the road from the main hotel had what I needed, kettle, hair dryer, TV, and it was very clean. The shower had poor water pressure and wasn't really fit for purpose on the day I was there. Wifi was available but difficult to connect to so gave up. The service was good and staff friendly, but apart from lovely nachos, bar food and breakfast were average. Overall this is a pleasant hotel oozing former glory. The price for an overnight stay was reasonable and I'd stay again, though I'd like a room with a functonal shower next time.

Only ordered lunch took ages to come. Bake potato with side salad which was just lettuce potato uncooked in centre. Took ages to come hence didnt complain as didnt want to wait even longer for another.

Had a meal here last night as a friend had suggested it. Where do u begin bar was really busy but barmen were quick efficient and really friendly. Booked into the restaurant spur if the moment £25 for three courses young girl served us she was the only one serving what amazing service she provided didn't feel rushed even though it was fairly busy had the deconstructed beef wellington it was lovely cooked exactly how I had asked for it then had the best cheeseboard I have had for a long time my husband had the venison burger it was lovely it was that nice booked to go again next night definitely worth trying fantastic friendly service from the moment we walked in the door.

Well we had our wedding reception at the Rutland and I would recomend to everyone. Excellent service from the staff, great value for money too. The room we booked for our honeymoon suite was excellent too (the jane Austin suite) Thank you so much for helping to make our day special. Michelle & Neil Buels We will be back.

Nice hotel which is ideally situated in Bakewell. 1 minutes walk from the central shopping area and the river Wye. Cooked breakfast was lovely. Only criticism is it was a little noisy but this didn't cause any problems.

Popped in looking for lunch on a busy Saturday. The bar was dead — zero atmosphere and people. Food looked uninspiring (including a mysterious "meat" and potato pie). Had a drink and left to find food elsewhere.

Good location with a short walk into the town centre. We stayed in the annexe which meant crossing a busy road to get to and from the hotel. The room was to hot at night, even with the windows open. The shower had poor water pressure.

Receptionist not the most welcoming but head waiter brilliant. Carparking awkward but free.

Rooms really clean stayed for two night and staff really friendly. Will stay again.

Stayed over night there enroute to Germany. I was very impressed with everything about the hotel. I would stay there again if ever in Newcastle.

Took a 3 day Amazon Local Deal to walk in the area. Very nice location and we were in the Courtyard across the road from the hotel. The rooms in the Courtyard are refurbished clean and tidy. We had a bath with a shower and the only complaint regarding the room was the shower head was too heavy for the holder on the wall so hard to direct onto yourself. Massive double bed that was great! Breakfast was included and either Continental or Full English (or Kippers. ) Very good one of the best freshly served Full English we have had. One Evening Meal was included in the deal but we were disappointed that it was an Amazon Special Menu and not the standard menu! It wasn't too bad a meal though and you could upgrade and pay the extra over the Amazon Deal allowance. The staff were very friendly and could not do enough for you, very rare nowadays! I attended my son's combined wedding and birthday celebration on 1st March 2014. 18 family members stayed over for the weekend and all of them were delighted with the hotel's accommodation;food;wedding reception arrangements and general attitude and helpfulness. I never heard one negative comment the entire weekend and this very important occasion (to us) was a huge success. Much of the credit for this must go to the very helpful staff who showed great patience with the large number of children we had with us. Thank you.

I've stayed here before and whilst I wasn't blew away, the stay was acceptable. This time round; I was not so lucky. We stayed across the road from the main hotel in the courtyard. The room was a fair size but the bed was poor and rickety. I wasn't happy with the service in general. We came back in the evening on the Saturday night for a little drink before bed to find the waiter arguing with another patron. The patron had asked for cappuccinos but the waiter had given him two black coffees. The waiter then argued that cappuccinos essentially were black coffees with no milk and that he had been trained that way. Obviously this is ridiculous but he kept the story up. When we sat down we could still hear the waiter complaining about the ordeal, insisting upon his story. It made us quite uncomfortable. The next morning we walked over to the main building for breakfast. We waited for someone to seat us without success and then found an available table ourselves (there wasn't actually an allotted waiting place as there is in most hotels). We waited around 15 minutes until we could get the attention of someone to get some coffee. It would have been nice to at least just place some urns of hot water by the cereal buffet table. We then waited and waited and waited. We waited a little more. If you are fond of waiting, you would find the breakfast experience marvellous.

Fantastic hotel, food and drink and, what's best, the owner is a complete nutcase. Even better they sell Thornbridge Brewery, Jaipur IPA, the best IPA in the world.

Food great room nice but run out of beer and very disorganised hotel! Wondered when manuel or basil would appear! Had a lovely time though with good friends.

Stayed here for 2 nights in October 2009. Despite its useful location I would never stay there again or recommend it. My room was dirty and the staff disinterested. Breakfast very ordinary. Had to queue for nearly 15 minutes in the morning to pay my bill so that I had to hurry to catch the bus. On the bus I discovered that I had been overcharged. Very poor all round.
