Absolutely excellent little place. We booked with Alton Towers got a family room for 5 people. The hotel was lovely, the food was absolutely amazing and the hotel staff were super friendly. This is a gem of a hotel and totally deserves recognition. Would definitely visit again.

Certainly not the best hotel I have been too. But for families it's excellent with spacious very well laid out rooms that accommodate families of up to 6 in comfort. We could also take our dog. The breakfast spread is the best I have seen with good pub meals available. The playground is a bit tatty and the rooms suffer from having dogs in. Another bonus is that you can park by your room and don't have to drag luggage far.

Had a very enjoyable stay here. Staff are very friendly and helpful, family rooms are clean, tidy and have everything you need. The play park is great my kids loved it. Would definately recommend it.

Excellent place to stay and eat. The veiws are stunning. If you want to stay in this area I think it would be very hard to beat this place. The owners are very approachable and always ask if you have any everything you need and is everything is to your liking.

Myself and a group of friends stopped in here after a day out at The Roaches. While the staff were friendly and kind, the food was horrendous. A friend and I both ordered the dusted lemon sole, crispy prawn and calamari main, I’ve never been more disappointed with a meal in my lifetime. The sole was in a soggy breadcrumb coating, the shrimp were absolutely enveloped in a cheap tasting batter and the icing on top, the ‘calamari’, was actually scampi. Peas were rock hard and the other two guys with us who both had pies were equally disappointed, rock hard, bland mashed potatoes and hairs in their food. Would not recommend this place to anyone nor would I ever come back. Vile.

Lovely location and staff/owners are really lovely. The bar is well stocked. Little bit disappointed with food. The chips that came with the sandwiches were fried oven chips and the bread was pre-sliced processed cheap stuff. Would have been nice to have enjoyed home made chips and chunky bloomer bread.

Love staying here. Stayed here a couple of time. Staff are amazing. Food are fresh and local. The room are just right for a family. Xx.

Gteat place to stay. Staff are very friendly good service they are ready to go the extra mile. Well appointed room very clean. They could not do better 10 out of 10.

Food amazing all though portion sizes rather large but didnt bother the husband, staff really great and couldn't do enough for you. The room we had was lovely but could do with updating. We are going to book again for the summer.

A lovely oasis in the Peak District area. Friendly owners answer excellent facilities. Plus a hot tub and sauna if you need I. Secure parking and only good thoughts of this place.

Had a lovely time here. Definitely recommend it. Rooms were very clean and very warm when we walked in, which was very inviting. Meal was lovely at night. Breakfast was continental and had a large selection of cereals, toast, fruit… etc. Could upgrade to full English but we were more than happy with what was offered. Lovely surroundings. People were very nice and welcoming.

Staff we're extremely friendly and helpful. We took our dog here for the weekend and loved every moment of it! The food was really good and would highly recommend the DP burger, or the soups for a light snack The only thing I could criticize was the decor in the room, but that may be because we had a dog friendly one.

Excellent all round. Highly recommended great food and atmosphere great place to take your dogs and kids has everything you need for atleast 1 night + the accommodation is nice nothing spectacular but it has everything you'll need. Everything worked that should and very close to the restaurant pub area. Room was nice and warm on entry the beer wasn't the best but ok for a few to help sink the food which was beautiful nicely cooked and definitely home baked which we really appreciated. Staff very helpful, Wi-Fi works, looking forward to breakfast which I hear good things about. Thankyou you all staff from the dog and partridge we will be back and pass on to friends & family what a great experience we had.

Having read the reviews before visiting, I was slightly concerned as I think we all read the bad ones and don't take too much notice of the good ones. Please ignore any bad review as from the moment we walked in to the moment we left I failed to find any fault. The room was fantastic, completely faultless. Evening dinner was superb as was breakfast. All the staff were polite, happy and sociable. Thank you all for an enjoyable stay.

Fantastic dog friendly pub with large chalet style rooms in the grounds. Food is top notch, such a selection. Maitre d so attentive. Cosy bar area dog friendly. A perfect spot to explore this part of the peak District.

Didn't feel too welcomed. Bed was broken and slanting to right. Visited before theme park and was charged 5 pounds for a pot of coffee because I was an supposedly an outsider as staying that night! Coffee was full of coffee grains. Slight attitude from owners. Don't be conned by getting a twin double as this is a double bed and a small single, similar to a caravan size small bed. When bringing up issues the mention you are the first to complain, so no compensation. This shows total ignorance. The lobby/reception area has two setees with a large teddy bear and small polar bear on, these were completely filthy. I would not recommend this place.

Great if you're just looking for some where to use as a base and explore the local area. Room was tidy and clean. The family who own the place are very nice and easy to chat too. The food was of a high standard with good choices for evening and breakfast menus.

We stayed for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly. The food was very good with a wide choice to choose from. Our room was very comfortable with all amenities met. Would definitely recommend.

We have just come back from the Dog And Partridge, which is actually our second stay here. We have loved it both times! The staff are lovely and welcoming and the food is beautiful couldn't say a bad word about it! We shall be booking again next year for sure. Thank you for making our break relaxing! Great place to stay. Clean and tidy. Spacious. Excellent parking facilities. Good menus but a problem with the main course. May have been a one off. Starters and desserts were delicious. Helpful friendly staff. Dogs welcome. Good for children and adults alike. Would definitely stay again AND recommend. Thanks to all the staff for a lovely weekend.

Came for dinner (not a stay). The place itself is beautiful and most of the staff were very welcoming and accommodating of our party of 7 (including a baby and a toddler). Menu was varied with someone that appeals to everyone. Children's menu was good and reasonably priced too. However, the food was unfortunately average at best. Two of us ordered medium steaks that were the same level of cooked as the one ordered by someone who asked for a well done one. And the chips tasted very much as though they had been reheated. At £22 for a steak, you expect it to at least be cooked right. Desserts were lovely though. We asked a member of staff (who I believe was actually a reception staff member just helping out in the restaurant) if we could have the brownie without the chocolate sauce for our toddler. He made us feel like we were really inconveniencing him and said, "it's how it comes. " Then when the lovely lady from the kitchen came with our desserts, there was nothing for our toddler. She then said, "is that everything? " So we asked again about the brownie. And she said, "I can't make the piece any smaller because it's portioned like this already. But I can do it without sauce. " And she came back within a couple of minutes with a plain brownie — no hassle! So it was clear the first gent hadn't actually asked her which was disappointing. Having spent £150 in there, I would have thought a small request like that would have been politely handled.

Booked a table with group on for Sunday dinner at the dog and partridge but had to cancel on the day due to been ill. We phoned but they wouldn't refund the group on. So lost the money the person on the phone was not very helpful at the dog and partridge. Will never go there again.

We first went here 3 weeks ago when we dropped in for mothers day without a booking. All 4 of us were really impressed and thought the service and food were lovely. All of us had different roast dinners and they catered for gluten and dairy free very well. We were so impressed we returned for a birthday meal with 9 of us travelling 50 minutes to get there the other night. Unfortunately this time around they let themselves down badly. They put us in the conservatory despite booking way in advance. This meant every 5 minutes the door we were 2 meters from was opening for guests staying in the accommodation coming to the bar making us all freeze as it was raining and like a hurricane outside. We mentioned this before ordered starters but no offer to move was made and we continued to be cold all our meal. 5 ordered starters and of which only 3 were lucky enough to receive cutlery. The 4th person got their starter 10minutes (no exaggeration) after the first 3 and the 5th another 5 minutes after that. The bbq spare ribs were freezing in the middle like they had been kept frozen and nuked in the microwave but not for long enough. I took them back and they removed them from the bill with offer of bringing more. The mains continued to disappoint as they were brought out 1 by 1 leaving the first sitting there for going cold whilst 8 more meals were carried out 1 at a time.

A nice pub, very old fashioned at the front, with a modern restaurant at the back. Friendly staff.

Just to put you right on a few FACTS Mary. We did NOT book through Groupon nor did we book the hot tub through an Internet deal. We booked it all directly through you over the phone. I'm sure the jacuzzi would be enjoyable in said conditions when staring at the stars. But in gale force winds and torrential rain it's not. Trust me. You and your staff have repeatedly LIED to us. You do not have several hot tubs, you have 2. And the one we were offered and refused was NOT used by anyone else that night as we checked on our way back to our room and the towels that were put out for US were still there in the morning. If you have had customers use that hot tub with the broken dangerous step you are lucky you have not seriously hurt someone and been sued. We did not threaten your staff with writing bad reviews. I told Jenny and yourself that I would be taking the matter further and higher. That was not a threat. I will be contacting trading standards and lodging a formal complaint where ever else I can. You have lied and argued to your customers I gave you plenty of chances to right your wrongs but you could not even apologise. We spend in total £150 for 1 nights stay with you. You clearly need the money more than us so please keep it. I suggest you get some customer service courses sorted for you and your staff. The lot of you are a disgrace.

Worst weekend ever by a country mile! We stayed here the weekend of sat 14th, we arrived and had a meal then went back to our hotel to get changed for the hot tub we had booked, we were met by a dingy bathtub full of dirt and leaves beside our building and the weather was getting extremely bad with wind turning gale force and icey cold rain, no problem we thought as the advertised pictures showed a structure above the hot tub and a suana to change in and keep our belongings safe and dry. No such luck we were put in a cheap hot tub exposed to the elements with our dry towels now soaking wet before we had even got changed, which we would have done if there was a place to change… exept We were expected to change into our swimsuits surrounded by overlooking rooms. When we asked where the shelter was for the hot tub we were told it had blown away and that the insanely bad weather and lack off shelter would make us appreciate the hot tub moreso.

We have just had a two night break at The Dog and Partridge. We got a deal on Amazon and decided to take the opportunity to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were able to take our dog with us which was a bonus as we enjoy walking and the area offers plenty of wonderful walks. our chalet was clean, warm and we'll furnished. It's a real bonus to be able to park right by your room. The bed was very comfortable and the quilt lovely and warm. We ate at the hotel both evenings and both food and service were very good. The staff are friendly and attentive. We chose to have the continental breakfast although there were cooked items available. The continental breakfast had plenty of choice. All in all an excellent base for exploring the Derbyshire countryside.

We called in here for some food on a Monday evening, we were camping just down the road and had seen this place and thought it looked nice. We entered into a very dated looking bar area and had the choice of eating in the restaurant with an al'a carte menu or the bar with the bar food menu, we opted for the bar area. I ordered Local Trout but a few minutes after ordering the Bar Maid came back to say they did not have any so I quickly picked BBQ Chicken, It was just what other places would call Hunters Chicken or New York Chicken. Chicken Breast with a BBQ sauce and cheese comes with chips Onion rings and Coleslaw. Its usually one of those meals at the cheaper end that come in a 2 for £10 category This was one of the cheaper options on the menu though at £11.95 Chicken was tough, bbq sauce was nice and obviously from a jar as was the coleslaw, Chips were from the bagged frozen type and had obviously been kept warm for a while and the onion rings were just the battered ones you get frozen. Although it was edible it was not worth even half the money! My Girlfriend ordered chicken curry, It came with Onion Bhajee, Mango Chutney, Bombay Mix, Rice and a Naan Bread. The Rice had either been boiled in far to much water or reheated in water as it was over cooked mush, The Chicken was tough like mine and the curry sauce tasted like a watered down version of a cheap basics type from a jar.

Genuinely one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. The food is cheaply made and disgusting, the menus is just bizarre, trout and Stilton? Cold Elastic starter bread and the whole thing swimming in oil and over priced, the beer is expensive and badly kept. I can only blame the floral monster manager that hulks around staring at you as you eat. AVOID! What the hell! I didn't think there were places like this outside of 1987.

Stayed here as its only 20 mins away from Alton Towers also got it as a package deal. Room was good decor could do with updating as there were stains on the walls. Bed was comfortable and clean. Shower was nice and powerful (better than my own shower! ) Overall very happy with room. The staff are ok, I felt some of them needed to be trained on how to be a bit more professional. When taking our plates away in the "restaurant" area, they just pillield them on one another just looked a bit sloppy. Especially as we are paying more from the a la carte menu. When ordering my food I asked if I could have an egg instead of pineapple with my gammon the waiter (possibly the owner) just said no we are too busy, wont be enough room on the hob. I thought it wasnt too much to ask for. Enjoyed the meal though. We decided to have a drink at the bar and we noticed they had novelty beers for sale so decided to buy one as a gift, we asked one lady if we could have one thats not been on display on the shelf she said no thats all we have. I thought seemed odd that they would only have a few display beers and no others to replace, so we asked someone else and she said yes we do but its down in the store room. She went and got one for us anyway. Perhaps the store room was haunted and thats why the first waitress didn't want to go there? Or she was lazy? Just seemed odd. Apart from a couple of bad points id recommend staying here. Nice location very scenic, big rooms and friendly atmosphere.

We have just spent two lovely nights at this wonderful coaching inn. The staff are so friendly and the food is absolutely superb. Very comfortable accommodation — although detached from the main building this does not detract from the fact that everything is A1. Very clean in all respect and certainly a place to recommend — we will certainly come back sometime in the future.

We had a meal voucher brought by our son and his partner, we read some reviews and we should have not bothered? the meals are over priced and I've had better at our local pub. It cost around £35 each for something that wasn't to bad but over priced by at least 75%, so if you have a voucher don't take anyone with you as they will be ripped off. The staff are pleasant but everyone one is when they want your money. If you do go you've been warned that it's over priced.

We stayed here 2 nights for the 2014/15 New year Gala. You can park outside your chalet. The chalets are clean, tidy and warm. The food on both nights was excellent, and the portions were generous. The staff were very helpful, down to earth and friendly. The building is a 17th century inn with a real log fire, We met some very nice people, also guests who added to the enjoyment of our stay. It is located close to some scenic off road walks, if you have a dog.

We've just stayed I the family suite and I have to say that the room itself is not bad. We were really happy that this place would accommodate our family (2 adults and 3 teenagers) to where everyone had their own bed. The staff is very friendly! The booking process was very easy. The room has a kitchenette however there is a sign that states the guests in that room are not allowed to use it. Not very helpful for a family of 5. There's a small fridge, however ours did not work. The decor is adequate, which was fine for us because we don't care too much for it. The room was clean and the bedding was lovely. It did not have any pet smell. We had dinner in the restaurant, I was shocked that it was so incredibly expensive. (Spent £73 on 4 regular dinners and a child's dinner; 1 glass of wine and a pitcher of water). The food was tasty and the portion sizes were good, however, I feel the price for the dinner was extremely high. The price of the stay for 2 nights was quite expensive, but it did include breakfast. Overall, I would recommend this B&B, but I would strongly suggest that you use a voucher or find a large discount Groupon for a stay in this place. Hope this helps.

Brill great food staff 5* location super.

Stayed here for two nights and was very disappointed. It seems the owners just didn't bother to finish anything and don't upkeep the property properly. The accommodation is from a bad holiday camp and the pub itself is dated and scruffy. The food was edible but was pub grub at best and not a la carte as described. Most of the staff are pleasant but we won't return and wouldn't recommend this to anybody we know.

My husband and I stayed at the dog and partridge for 2 nights over the valentine period the food was outstanding, one of the best meals we have ever ate out, the staff are great especially the bar staff. Realy friendly and helpfull, especially the blonde hair lady and coloured man, the views are outstanding and we will be sure to be returning very soon, thankyou for a lovely stay, I cannot recommend this experience enough.

Stayed here in october and it was shocking, bad customer service and food. The stay was terriable and matress lumpy, when we complained they really didnt care and was not botherd. They think there better than they are and charging £5 for a 175ml glass of wine is stupid. They are far from the ritz and I don't play that in a 4* hotel! Over all I would tell people never to stay here.
