Waited for over an hour for food, no drinks orders, food eventually came with orders missing. Food was atrocious, worst service and food I, ve ever encountered.

Not many places serving food on a Wednesday night (so glad they weren’t) as I doubt we would have found the Black Lion Hotel, the food was absolutely top drawer, nice size portions, sensibly priced, and delicious.
Shame we are heading South tomorrow otherwise we would be back tomorrow night, well done to the staff on duty really can’t say much more than that 5 stars in my eyes.

Food was beautiful so tasty. Service was a bit slow but over all would defo recommend.

Stayed here for 2 nights this weekend. Lovely pub, really comfortable rooms exceptionally clean. Great friendly staff especially Meg who is like a tornado whizzing through keeping the place spick and span. We will definitely be back 😀

Booked afternoon tea for a birthday celebration for my father's 98th birthday. For 3 consequtive Saturdays, 36 guests at each. Every one was perfect and all the guests were very complimentary about the food, staff and venue. Excellent service and value for money.

Had a lovely vegetarian meal here last night. My husband had a steak which he said was delicious too. We couldn't resist the yummy puddings either! Staff are friendly and helpful as always.

It was our first vist for Sunday lunch a nice reception a great atmosphere and very cozy the staff were very helpful and polite. The meal was very good definitely one of the best we have had for a while in the area. I would definitely recommend a visit we will be going back very soon.

Last night of my friends stay so we had a celebration meal all 6 of us had a great meal I would definitely go back again.

Afternoon tea here. Proper sandwiches, scones with cream and jam and a strawberry tart for 2 under £15.00, served by very friendly staff in a very beautiful original setting. Highly recommended by me.

Popped in with the dog on the way back from a walk in aid of refreshment. While we were sat outside the landlady came out with water and biscuits for the dog. Very friendly and excellent ale.

Went for the first time in years and what a pleasant surprise. It looks more like a hotel than a local pub but manages to combine the two really well with a nice ambience and decor The menu was varied and all at a reasonable cost and the food when it arrived was really excellent with large portions. Service was good with attentive staff Would highly recommend.

Relaxing, comfortable bar. Restaurant just off from the bar. Good menu with an interesting choice of meals. Staff were keen to please and we had a lovely evening in pleasant surroundings. We recommend The Black Lion.

Stayed here for business really wish I could give this place 5 stars as the staff are really nice and helpfull. The food is great but unfortunately what really let's it down is the cleanliness of the rooms.

Went with friends for impromptu lunch. The food was superb and great value for money. Soup and a sandwich turned into our main meal, so substantial was it. Homemade soup, thick filling and warming. The sandwich was filled with fresh cooked warm chicken and bacon. Would highly recommend.

Had thoroughly enjoyable stay at the Black Lion. Our evening meal was delicious. Room comfortable and warm, breakfast was plentiful and prompt. Great value for money. Great location for visiting this beautiful area.

Lovely little place. We didn't eat in so cant comment on the restaurant. Booking last minute gave us a good price too. Room was nice and tea and coffee provided. Bath and shower available in ensuite. Breakfast included.

I had a really pleasant experience. The food was tasty and the servings were generous. The waiting staff were professional, warm and well-organised which made the day. The premises were clean, though would maybe benefit from a little refurbishment. All in all, a good afternoon — I would recommend to friends and am likely to return myself in the future.

Chicken curry tasted like it was out of a jar friends food was burnt no way that is was fresh made 1 star not even worth a star.

We went to the black horse to get some lunch. However there was little choice on the menu for lunch so we ended up going elsewhere. The drinks were OK and the staff were efficient and welcoming.

The decor of the hotel restaurant left a lot to be desired and is in need of updating and is very dark and gloomy. The service was quite poor and not very professional. However the food was excellent and quite delicious… I wholeheartedly recommend the trio of lamb chops.

Fab. Right in centre of richmond. Only problem is parking, but that wouldn't put us off. Will stay there again. Room and everything great. My husband and I very pleased.

I've. Known this pub all my life the food is 5*the family owned pub is quaint yet friendly the regulars are very friendly I miss it you will enjoy the atmosphere, a must for a stay you wont want to leave.

A lovely place to be, however the food is a little pretentious. Good honest pub food would fit the surroundings better. They got my order wrong and their definition of 'half a chicken' differs greatly from mine. Having eaten in Richmond many times there are a lot of places I would go before eating here again.

Lovely quaint public house … bit chilly though but sitting next to the real fire warmed me up. Gorgeous food.
