Afternoon tea for my birthday. Would have liked more tea but staff nowhere to be seen. Window next to us was misted as if a broken seal on the double glazing so view was marredWhole place looks tired.

Been here several times over the years. Still very good but better but much more idiosyncratic when John Toney was there. However you can now choose what to eat from a classic selection.

We came because of a deal giving bed breakfast, dinner and cream tea. And we are so pleased we went. We had a lovely welcome as if going to a house and not just another hotel. The room was warm with fantastic view across the lake to the snow covered hills from balcony. The cream tea in the conservatory was lovely and I dont drink tea but the gave me a lovely hot chocolate. The stairs and community rooms were all decorated tastefully for christmas. The downstairs room had cosy chairs and log fire. The service from all staff was attentive but not intrusive. The meal was defiantly worth every penny. We had a drink in the lounge by the fire and were brought premeal savoury treats. The breakfast was also great I had porrage with whisky and brown sugar. And smoked salmon with creamy scrambled egg. My husband had full cumbrian breakfast and was very happy. I would recommend it.

Got a fantastic rate for 1 night stay for 2 which included cream tea on arrival… nicest scones ever… 3 course dinner… magnificent & breakfast which although awesome was overshadowed by the stupendous view of the lake. The service was excellent from all the staff (although the chef who was cooking breakfast needs to learn that his voice carries… apparently disgruntled when my daughter sent back her poached egg as it was overcooked) … stayed in Troutbeck room which was beautiful and had great balcony which on a sunny summer day must be a real treat to sit on. I agree that shabby chic (which I love) is in danger of morphing to just shabby but all in all this is a 5 star property and we loved our stay.

A charming hotel situated between Bowness and Windermere. Once the place where John Tovey reined supreme. The hotel has very friendly and attentive staff who serve fine food and drinks. Large comfortable rooms with exquisite views of lake Windermere. Fine dining with fantastic views across the length of Lake Windermere, the hotel has a good choice of wines at reasonable prices. Well worth a visit.

Spent a few nights in late august, lovely grounds and views of the lake, staff was friendly and attentive, food and dining was a treat. Felt like we were taken back to a different era, will definitely return.

Came here for afternoon tea. We were seated in the conservatory, this could have done with a good clean. When they brought out our tea we found the sandwiches very cold, just out of a fridge or frozen bread. The scones were very dry and crumbly been kept warm too long. The cakes were average and very small. Our coffee came and was very week. Although they did bring us a fresh one when we complained. The best thing we found were the staff, very friendly and helpful. Not somewhere I would recommend.

We just popped in and asked if we could have tea and cake. They were very accommodating and also sorted out some ice cream for the kids. Lovely setting and beautiful views across Windermere.

Lovely hotel with great gardens and spectacular views of Lake Windermere. Great breakfast and evening dining Really lovely bedroom even without Lake view. Really no problem. Staff friendly and helpful nothing too much trouble.

No other words to describe it… just superb. The cuisine is out of this world. The staff are incredibly accommodating, knowledgeable and friendly. I have only ever eaten here and look forward to the day when I can experience their hotel rooms. A real treat with stunning views that overlook a very peaceful windermere lake. Will visit again… just hope it will be soon!

Fabulous arts and crafts movement house with beautiful rooms and a view from heaven over the lake. Food just sub Michelin but at a fabulous price. Service and genteel atmosphere an absolute joy.

The food is fantastic, it's a beautiful building and the wine list is extensive however although the staff were friendly they were inexperienced. For example we ordered an expensive bottle of wine which was opened by the waiter as he told us that he hates wine and only drank it whilst mixing it with lemonade as a teenager! It kind of ruined the moment. He the poured the wine almost filling the glasses to the top! This may sound picky but I expect more from a top restaurant. The food really does stand this place up so credit to the chef… Miller Howe please train your staff appropriately!

My friends and I stopped by the Miller Howe Hotel for some cream teas after a walk around Windermere. The service we received was excellent and the views from the garden at the rear of the property were astounding. Tea and scones were delicious — I can't fault anything about our visit. Well worth calling in!

Ive been there with my fioncee for our anniversary. Great warm welcome. Staff very friendly. Meal top level. Big selection of wines, prices acccording to quality are very good. Highly recomended.
