Had a lovely lunch today in the garden overlooking the lake and watching the boats arrive. I am gluten free and there were options for me which is why we chose there and we weren't disappointed. Really enjoyed the gluten free sticky toffee pudding. They don't take lunch reservations so I'm glad we got there early. The pizzas from the pizza over outside also looked good (just no good for me). They were really popular.

Lovely place to eat and drink with family and our dog. The pizza was amazing and was cooked in the pizza oven outside! The staff were nice and friendly too! We will definitely visit this place again. Thank you.

Fabulous place. We had a luxury room overlooking the lake.
We had breakfast and evening meal at the hotel both days. The food was excellent.
Location is perfect for walking into Ambleside and the boats are literally 2 mins across the road. We did nt use the car after we parked it on site on arrival.
We will have a return visit for sure.

It is our first stay at this hotel. It has more than exceeded our expectations. From the moment we checked in we have have felt welcomed and have been taken care of. The staff are of a standard you would expect to find in a five star hotel. The meal we had in the restaurant was superb. Our room overlooking the lake is immaculate and the bed so comfortable I don’t think we will want to get up in the morning! There is a bowl of fruit and water provided in addition to tea and coffee. Staying here has far superseded our expectations and I cannot recommend it highly enough. We will definitely come back here.

Awful customer service
Ordered pizzas, waited over an hour and then watched them pack the pizza oven away. No one came to tell us that our order had been cancelled. If we hadn't noticed God only knows how long we would have sat waiting … When we complained the staff didn't seem to care.

Really poor customer service for us unfortunately. Luckily there are plenty of welcoming restaurants near by.

Located just off the bay in Ambleside and by a large car park, although guests can park in the hotel car park. The car park seems to be shared with another building that appears to be residential but I can't be certain. The hotel staff were very professional, front of house in particular. The hotel room was incredibly welcoming, nice touch with the cuddly toy, great way to make your guest smile on arrival. As guest of the hotel we also got a discount off the local attractions; the lake cruises. We only stayed one night but I would comfortably visit this hotel again. Breakfast was wonderful, the full English was excellent, as the first guests down I appreciated that we were seated at the bay window overlooking the lake. The hotel was incredibly clean, the cleaning staff seemed to be working round the clock and very accommodating.

Dropped in for a bite to eat and a few drinks. Good menu, lovely food and helpful bar staff. It was a gorgeous day so we sat in the garden dining area, where dogs are allowed, so ideal for us. Recommended. :)

A superb hotel with great customer service and attentive staff. From the initial booking experience to confirming aspects of the stay via email, the experience before arrival was already very good. On check in our room was ready and we made use of the pool & sauna down the road at their sister hotel. The rooms are lovely with a great bed and good refreshments. I should note these were replenished during turn down service. Very impressed. The food is great. Very well presented and full of flavour. I highly recommend the breakfast. Plenty of choice. I feel the staff make the difference here. Every interaction was top notch. I would return!

Cannot recommend this place more highly. It is more like a 5 star hotel. The staff are amazing and the little extras in the room really make the difference. This is our second time at the hotel and we instantly felt at home on our return. We will be back!

Only dropped in to get something to eat with a friend. I had the classic burger which had a little to much cheese on for my liking but I still ate it. The fries were probably the best I've had from somewhere in a long time other than my house. My friend had the curried chick pea burger which he enjoyed. So would deffinatly go back next time I'm in the area would also recommend to anyone else looking for something to eat.

Very nice large room, bed very comfortable with good quality linen, bathroom good size with top quality shower gels and soaps, shower over large bath.
Restaurant excellent with extensive menu and food of the highest order including breakfast menu.

And finally it’s all about the location.

Room was a bit snug for two adults, a a baby and boxer dog (wish I'd of checked when booking as we did walk past some huge rooms! ). The hotel staff were exceptional, even when we needed to get milk at 2.30am for our son! Room was well equipped for our dog and included dog bed, bowls, treats and a dog towel! Best parts were the gin selection, and incredible breakfast fully catered for our son and my gluten free fussy eating! The location is out of this world! Would definitely recommend!

We arrived a little past 8:30 (taking a 5pm train from Euston). The Wateredge (where we were staying) and the Regent both shut their kitchens and wouldn’t feed us. But the Waterhead welcomed us (even though they had shut their kitchen too) and provided us with terrific service and food. This is proper hospitality.

Had a lovely stay here with my partner, brother in-law and mother in-law. Beautiful place in a stunning location and amazing view. Lovely staff and delicious food. I would 100% recommend.

Great boutique hotel. Rooms are comfortable and we'll appointed. The food is good. Gin library is excellent. And the staff cannot do enough to make sure your stay is perfect. On top of all that, the location is amazing too.

Was fortunate enough to stay at this fabulous hotel. I can honestly say the whole experience was faultless! Arrived to be greeted by a very polite young lady on reception who was very helpful and were given key cards to the most amazing room. The bed was lovely and comfortable and every little detail was thought of, from the tasty grassmere gingerbread right down to binoculars to view the lake. We ate in the bar for lunch and dined in the restaurant on the evening, followed by breakfast the next day and the food was beautiful! Would visit again in a heartbeat and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone — incredible! Thank you.

Had a lovely stay here food was delicious our room was spotlessly clean we stayed in the luxury room with a balcony overlooking the lake was gorgeous all staff where friendly and helpful thank you to Adela on reception for our upgrade would definatly recommend the Waterhead hotel for a pleasant relaxing stay.

We had a sharing platter which was amazing and the price was very good, also one of our group had the pulled pork burger which was very nice and 2 pots of tea which were were very generous in size that wins my vote being a big tea drinker. The surroundings were very pleasant and our view looking out on to the lake made our visit very enjoyable.

The Waterhead hotel is a lovely and clean dog friendly hotel. All the staff are welcoming and very polite. The room was cozy and solid, with no noise coming from the neighbours or the hallway. The bath was a good size and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. With a water front view from the restaurant and a breakfast buffet to suit all dietary need. I would highly recommend the Waterhead hotel and would visit again.

Lovely hotel right opposite Lake Windermere, with comfortable rooms. It is quaint in a way but also modern. The manager and team is what really makes this hotel as everyone was welcoming and couldn't do enough to make you feel special. Food was great too.

Absolutely superb, I can only recommend this hotel as the best break we have ever been on. It's solely down to the hotel staff and management, they can not do enough for you from the time you arrive to checking out. We stayed for 5 days 4 nights over the Christmas period. The location is breath taking with the lake just over the road. Our two dogs were well looked after, even receiving a Christmas stocking. The food was amazing, the champagne flowed, and we didn't meet a guest who had a complaint, most of whom were regular Christmas guests. The 4 day itinerary was well thought out for those who wanted to get involved, especially the casino night, and for those who just wanted a more relaxed stay. A special thank you to the manager Anthony we look forward to seeing you all again in the summer.

Beautiful views, huge beds and amazing showers! Love the choices of gin on offer in the bar too. Set in a beautiful location with great views across the lakes. Nice and friendly staff and swift check in and check out process. Parking was full. So had to park on pay and display a few metres from hotel.

Most amazing place, great rooms, great food, evening and breakfast, gin bar thats the best, staff are amazing, especially Steven, can't wait to go back.

Amazing food! Well worth the price we paid. I would suggest booking beforehand though, as we were turned away on the Monday due to not being any spare tables for a few hours. However, after booking for the Thursday, we were blown away with both the service and quality of food.

Genuinely a little gem of a hotel right on lake windermere. Try and go for a lake view room as its worth it, but as it s so easy to get to the pier for trips, any room would be great. Excellent service from all staff especially reception when we arrived. Plenty of parking at the front and both sides of the hotel. Thank you for a special 2 night break. I need to go on a diet now.

Amazing food and services. Exceptional manners and service from Fernando. High quality food and great prices. Amazing decor and great choice of drinks. To top it off, Fernando makes an amazing cup of coffee!

Lovely hotel, comfortable beds and nice soft pillows. Room was spotless, bathroom clean and spacious with a bath and nice showed (over bath). Tea and coffee in room, we also had a fruit bowl, water and gin. Good range for breakfast, food tasty and cooked to order. Only downside was the limited parking spaces.

Loved it! Great hotel, we stopped in a classic room which was very clean and quite spacious. Bathroom looked quite new, lovely toiletries. Food was lovely, we had breakfast and evening meals. Staff were very helpful. Great location opposite a dock where you could get a boat to a few locations. Also dog friendly, dog bed, food and water bowls were provided. Couldn't really fault it, will definitely be back.

Lovely location right at the waters edge in Water head. We had breakfast twice, lunch once (sat outside) and an evening meal here (5 of us). Loved all four meals. The staff are amazingly polite, friendly and helpful and we all agreed when we come back to the Lakes we will stay here too.

Great location After opening the door, you will find a doll dog in the room as a decoration, and there's a bar downstairs.

Ambleside's Lake Boutique hotel, the summer package is particularly cost-effective, staying two nights with three dinners a night, and sending champagne. The room was comfortable.

Friendly staff, great views, comfy rooms and good bar food. The restaurant food does suffer from presentation getting in there way of a decent tasty meal.
