We had a fantastic stay & we were well looked after. Super friendly staff and everything spot on. We would most definitely stay here again. Loved it.

Our room was beautiful. Clean and modern with everything you need. Bed made everyday and towels changed. Tea and coffee facilities. Spacious ensuite. The staff were lovely and couldn't have done anymore.
A wonderful breakfast basket greeted us with more than enough to feed us. I even got soya milk for my breakfast. Very pleased. Will definitely visit again.

Much more than a beautiful setting with a great cafe. This is a proud piece of English history where brave and compassionate people found a better way. An absolute must-visit.

Stayed for one night — Fri. 27/7/18 visiting our youngest son who is on a graduate work related training course and temporarily resident in Ulverston. Our reception was warm and welcoming. Our room was clean and tidy, modern yet simple and beautifully situated in this peaceful haven of tranquility. We opted for the self catering breakfast pack which was of outstanding quality and a mere £5 per person and we also made use of the Barn Café where you can opt to take a cooked breakfast or enjoy morning coffee or afternoon tea. As a resident you can visit the “Old House” (normally £6.50 entrance fee) — wonderful history. This establishment is run in The Quaker tradition and we particularly liked the sign “All Welcome”. A short walk (0.7 mile) into Ulverston Town Centre. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the only downside on this occasion was that our stay was a night or two too short. We will return again and would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this accommodation. Thank You for being a Friend.

Would have liked a larger range of coffee styles, as they only service filter coffee, the cakes were nice. And the grounds are lovely. Didnt get chance to go round the Hall. But only a 15 minute walk from the centre of Ulverston via a little footpath that takes you out the back of Ulverston stright to it.

What a wonderful place, such a tranquil setting. The staff are so nice & polite. It's definitely worth a visit, & I'd love to go again.

Peaceful, welcoming venue, a Grade II listed Tudor mansion, which became the founding place of Quakerism. Excellent cafe. Well worth a visit.

Beautiful garden to sit and enjoy the treats and drinks from the cafe. Our local and we love it winter or summer.

We lived our visit today. Beautiful grounds and meadow. The kids especially like the labyrinth of stones on the meadow. Frog spawn in the little pond and lovely history of the Hall told to us through a Horrible History format. A little gem of a place.

I stay regularly at Swarthmoor, which is well situated for my work in schools around the South Lakes. It is a very beautiful and peaceful setting staffed by people who really seem to care about the quality of their visitors' stay and wellbeing. It is wonderful to watch the changing seasons in a timeless location, and I am constantly drawn there to rest, meet interesting staff and guests, and generally to feel extremely grateful to experience such a restorative and supportive ethos in the bustle of working life.

The hall itself is beautiful inside — don't let the ugly rendering on the outside pit you off! A lovely tudor mansion, it retains it's lived in atmosphere. The gardens are very peaceful too. The guest rooms are clean and modern. The café has very few vegan options unfortunately.

Cafe is very good worth a trip. House was enjoyable.

Tea & coffee were both top notch and the Bacon, Brie & Relish sandwich is to die for! We will definitely be coming back.

A 16th century country house, set in beautiful gardens. Bedrooms are modern, comfortable and well decorated. Staff were welcoming, and very helpful.
