Great 2 night stay in the summer for my 30th birthday. Perfect location for walking, great outdoor seating areas and lovely food.

Delicious food and a lovely warm welcome. Lunchtime was busier than expected, with lots of ramblers and walkers taking advantage of the November sunshine. Haddock was sublime — beautiful fish expertly cooked, with thin crispy batter. Homemade tartare sauce was amazing. Beef burger was well-flavoured, with good seasoning, served in a light crispy brioche style bun. Delicious. Highly recommended if you are in this area of the Lakes. Great Wi-Fi too.

Absolutely amazing!
we ate here and couple of times and one evening went all out 3 courses including alot of whisky tasting after.
The food is outstanding. Special mention of the duck starter and pheasant main. Cooked to absolute perfection and the taste is just amazing.
The landlords and staff make you feel like you've stepped into their own home and welcome you with open arms.

Nice place to eat, a little pricey but you are well off the beaten track. But lovely food.

Thank you for your welcome today — our group was booked for 1 pm, and the table (in a separate room — not a bad idea as we had 5 children with us! ). The food was served quickly. It was excellent — fish and chips for me — and the staff helpful and friendly.

The food is fab!, I would highly recommend the fish and chips, good quality ingredients treated with respect. The people who run and work here are brilliant, they are a credit to the profession. Will definitely be visiting again when in the area.

Great location with walks around Little Langdale from the front door. Only short drives to Great Langdale, Coniston, Lake Windermere etc. Rooms comfortable and clean. Food good, great beer range and friendly staff.

We have found the staff very friendly and accommodating especially with our dog. The hotel/pub is just down the road from our holiday cottage and has been very handy! The food is great and very tasty, we would recommend people to visit, we will defiantly return.

A lovely Inn surrounded by beautiful countryside. Great for walks and cycling in the lake district. Rooms are very pleasant. Lovely helpful staff. Good breakfast and excellant evening meal. All reasonably priced.

Enjoyed two yummy meals here this week, excellet pies, enormous fish and chips, and delicious pigeon. Good selection of beer and lovely friendly staff. It was excellent last year too, we will return.

Lovely pub with good choice of beer. Food also available but only in lunch time and late dinner (book in advance recommended). Outside garden, parking for guest only. Good start point or finish of your treck. Absolutely amazing views and trails in the area. Check route to Slaters Bridge and bridge itself. Farmers offer amazing cakes on the way. Dogs friendly. Cash and card payment.

Nice pub — decent beers — bar food OK — good lunches but evening menu a little bit on the limited side — not a great deal of choice for kids.

Lovely Lakeland Inn, in a great position with some fantastic cask conditioned ales… ruined by the surely Cumbrian manager and the service. We ordered a bowl of soup and some chips and beer at the end of a long walk. Unfortunately the soup was from a packet and wasn’t edible But when we told the staff they argued with us, told us there was nothing wrong with it and they also said (unbelievably! ) “we shouldn’t have ordered just chips and soup, as that’s not allowed”?!? These jokers need to sort their service out and try and grasp the concept that (even if they don’t like it) ‘the customer is always right’!

Great food and excellent service We booked the day before as they said on the phone they were very busy, although it was fine when we arrived so maybe no need to book. We wanted to eat outside anyway which was fine. Very pretty outdoor area. Simple and minimal menu, high quality food. Very friendly and helpful staff. We parked there fine but there's limited space.

Typical Lakeland pub and prices. Popped in before venturing to the Cathedral Cavern. Heartly recommend the steak burger.

Such a cute inn. Very helpful and friendly staff and guests. Great, comfortable, clean rooms and bathrooms. Water gets hot. Great breakfast. Quiet location. I didn't see a lift, and the stairs were winding.

Lovely little Inn, friendly staff, free parking. Breakfast was lovely and was of a decent variety. The rooms were of a pretty high standard a were very clean. The inn is in a very good location too. Lots of good hiking. Highly reccomended if you are in the area.

Lovely little pub. Offering lodging. Food. And a selection of real ales. I have to say it's a tad on the expensive side. I get it's a walkers and tourist bar but their is a sense of your being taken advantage of price wise. There are lots of lovely walks doable from here. It's an ideal start point when aiming for the old Mines and the cathedral. Don't forget torches. Over all the bar is warm and friendly. Plenty of outside seating. Good food served but again a tad over priced. That's my only criticism of the place. Perhaps if prices where lower folk would spend more. It's not London.

We spent 2 nights. We had hillside view and the bed is comfortable. The food was good, so much choice. I enjoyed the healthy options at breakfast.

A brilliant pub/hotel, just spent two nights bed & breakfast. Room excellent, breakfast brilliant would certainly recommend a stay here. Very welcoming and staff really pleasant. Rooms immaculate will be coming back.

Good variety of beer and good pub grub. A welcome rest spot for walkers.

This is the ideal country inn! Great food, great beer, friendly welcome, dogs allowed, open all day for breakfast, coffee, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner etc. When the weather is good there are tables outside with wonderful views, next to a babbling stream. When the weather is not so good there are several different bar/restaurant areas, traditional but comfortable, log fires etc. Thoroughly recommended!

Had some great times here… good food and great beer.

It seems I mixed up Great and Little Langdale when I booked a room at the Three Shires Inn, so me and my hiking partner ended up in Great Langdale one hour before sunset. By car the distance between where we were and where the inn was seems trivial, but it looks different after a long day of walking with heavy backpacks on a day in autumn. I am still grateful to the nice couple who gave us a ride over the hill to the right side. The son of the owners of the Three Shires Inn also offered us a free ride back for the next day, saving us from spending a fortune on a taxi. The place itself was nice and the food excellent. I liked the areas available for just sitting and having a quiet time outside the own room. I have no complaints at all.

I really want to be fair, especially after our discussion with the owner about the poor level of service, but it's difficult. I think it's best to summarise by explaining that the owner did not know the difference between ' catering' and ' hospitality'. His complacent and indifferent attitude gave us satisfaction that we were not wrong to complain. The root of our dissatisfaction was the rudeness of the staff who actually complained to us about our not being ready to order dinner at exactly the required time and their inflexibility when it came to moving tables because of the close proximity to other guests. Sighs and eye-rolling are not what you expect; the chastisement for moving to the next, unoccupied, room was totally unacceptable. What a shame as this place is in a wonderful setting, but then, so was Fawlty Towers!
