Such a lovely warm welcoming and friendly inn, we’ve just arrived home from a 3 night stay and can’t recommend highly enough! Comfortable warm clean room with good shower, friendly, helpful, kind staff and food to die for! Especially the pizzas! breakfast was also delicious. And most importantly a great pint of Guinness! Access to lots of lovely walks, We will be back :)

What a lovely place run by such lovely people. They went over and above, even coming to pick us and our dog up when we were stranded with a broken down car 20 minutes away. Had some lovely pizzas, gins, beers and they even sorted us out with some food for the dog! After such great hospitality we will definitely return for another fun evening (hopefully with a more healthy car next time! ). Thanks all, especially Liam!

Fabulous Cumbrian Inn with excellent customer service. Myself and family stayed last week and it was a great launch pad for walks everyday in what is the best of all the Lake Districts valleys. I will be back!

16th century coaching inn with loads of character. Fabulous location, ideal for walking with a group of friends. Open fires and cosy dining room, the food was great and staff are helpful and friendly.

I visited the woolpack on a wet and miserable October day. I had the steak and guiness pie which was by the far tastiest pie I’d ever eaten. I will definitely be returning to try out their pizzas and other options! Incredible 👏🏻

Absolutely gorgeous pizzas! We had a hoisin duck, a bbq chicken, and a goats cheese pizza over the weekend and they were all so good. Can't wait to come back!

Visited twice on a busy early summer weekend — once for drinks after a walk and later for food. Great drinks and amazing pizza. No longer offering takeaway pizza and we were one of the last tables outside to be able to order food as they were fully booked inside. One of the waitresses mentioned they were short staffed — they were still so friendly and welcoming. Could do with more tables outside.

Stayed over the Bank Holiday weekend with my family and the dog. Great, friendly staff made it a real treat. It was already one of my favourite pubs in the Lakes, but after seeing how they made C19 so much less of a problem, and hospitality the focus, it’s my favourite. All that’s good about a Lakes pub 👍

Had a fantastic three nights at the Woolpack Inn this week. Food was excellent and we felt safe during these difficult times. Staff couldn't do enough to help and made the week for us. Can't wait to visit again soon.

Lovely and. Friendly service.

We visit most years on our annual Lakes holiday, most recently yesterday and we were not disappointed. The food here is so lovely; the roasted cauliflower and red onion salad was delicious and the kids loved the pizzas. Our full party was accommodated without issue and made to feel very welcome, no mean feat under current circumstances. All credit to the friendly staff and brill chef, we’ll definitely be back again next year xx.

Great location, fantastic fresh baked pizzas. Small campsite adjoining the inn too. Outside toilets for camping not great, but indoor facilities when pub is open are ample. Staff very friendly. Covid friendly interior. Popular inn in a gorgeous location.

Great food and atmosphere especially after a nerve jangling foggy drive over the Hard Knott.

The Woolpack is the whole package. We should know — we stayed here for 9 nights. Good beer (real ale of course) and ciders too. Excellent menu choices food wise for young and old, and just as they say open all hours. The staff are super friendly, always find time to have a chat even when they are super busy. Walkers are in and out all the time, and dogs are always welcome. Our room was neat and tidy and we were comfortable. Entertainment as well — it was superb. What you dont get is "airs and graces" but that is more than made up with a good old country welcome. Just on the door step to Skafell Pike and, if your are brave and savvy enough driving wise, it has the most dangerous 2 passes in the whole of the UK for you to meander along once you find your feet (the Hard Knott and the Wrynose). This is the place to really chill out and get to know the locals too. Well done and Thank You to Paddy and her wonderful team. We will definitely be back — we dont really want to leave but needs must.

Excellent accommodation! Really friendly staff and owners topped with a great selection of drinks and food in a superb bar. Definitely worth a visit or a few nights stop!

Probably the best ”pie of the day” I had during my hiking trip through the Lake District in summer 2017. The atmosphere in the Woolpack Inn was great! Definitely a place I would recommend everyone who's staying near Eskdale.

Watch out for the festivals held at the Woolpack Inn, really enjoyable pub nestled within a beautiful valley. Great selection of food and drink, served and presented by the most accommodating staff. Accommodation great and camping available on site. The main Bar has a large screen showing sporting events, or just sit in the large beer garden, either way a fun place to enjoy a pint or stop over. Recommended.

Food was an hour and thirty minutes in the making with no apology. In fact the woman behind the bar, who had taken our order, told us we were "lucky to be getting any food" being that is was so busy. The folks on the neighbouring table had a similar fate but were unlucky enough to be delivered the wrong food. Meanwhile a couple sitting on the patio just got up and left, good innings though — they had been waiting a little longer than us and we would have been right behind them had the waiter not come out and offered us a free salad "to keep the peace". This was all topped off by the pub dog (a golden lab), taking a dump right in front of our table after begging from said neighbours. A shame really.

Great establishment. The food for all 10 of us was great. Great selection of gluten free vegan and vegetarian food which suited us all. Staff very friendly and polite. Couldn't of asked for more. Good job to the staff for a great service and great food. Thank you.

Pleasant place, friendly staff and reasonable food. Good choice with the tapas menu (all be it dishes are a little small for the price). We sat outside as it was a great day and great evening.

Great place to stay, excellent food and excellent service. All the staff are fab. Very friendly and happy in their work. Pizzas are amazing! Huge range of Gins and the ice cold Birra Moretti is just what you need on a hot day. Can't wait to go back …

Stayed here before and would come again, we had a great night at the bar and the staff are super helpful and friendly. Lovely toiletries in the bathroom and everything was clean, the views were amazing and breakfast was lovely. We will be back soon, the evening food menu is pizzas and burgers but the pizzas were really fantastic love that it’s dog friendly too.

This is a great pub, its rustic but that is fine when you are out and about in your outdoor gear in Eskdale. Good range of food and drink and a cosy fire when its cold outside which it was when we visited.

Excellent experience, really friendly as soon as we walked in, food was great you can tell they have pride in there food and service, it's a bit off the beaten track but we went for lunch and make a day of it with the drive from kendal and back.

What a great place! Stayed for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Fantastic atmosphere on the Saturday night with a live band playing. Tapas good, but pizzas were amazing. Absolutely delicious! Would highly recommend and will definitely visit again.

We stayed at the nearby YHA and had dinner here while stuck in the valley due to flooding. Nice food, if a little expensive. Steak cooked on hot rock worked really well, and the log burner helped us dry out. Charged our electric car, too. Best bit — kayaking in the beer garden.

Been visiting the woolpack for years and it gets better with each visit. Best pub in the lakes. Great food and menu. They have a proper wood fired pizza oven and make perfect pizzas. A comfy bar area with plenty of beers and friendly staff. Its dog friendly. The rooms are clean and cosy and have everything you need for a nice stay. The woolly is in the middle of some of the best fell walks in the lakes.

Wonderful pub for everything from stopping for a quick bite to eat or drink to gorgeous steak served on a lava rock for you to finish off to your liking. Pizzas are great too a large projector screen showing sports, definatly something for everyone here.

Stayed at the Woolpack Inn last night. I highly recommend this place. Lovely place in a great location. Very welcoming staff… Real nice cozy room, overlooking the fells, very clean. Plus major bonus, its a dog friendly place, so my dog could stay with me, they also have a gorgeous friendly dog of their own 'Woolly'. Had a lovely cooked breakfast, or continental if u prefer. Cant wait to return for longer. Thank you.

Great location for Scafell Pike. I stayed in room 4 which was nice with a good shower and bath but they could do with thinking about additional plug sockets as not by dressing table or bed!
Good atmosphere in the bar areas with plenty of choice to drink and eat, but could do with new tables as sticky so slightly unpleasant when eating. Apart from that would recommend and hopefully will return in the future.

Very nice place that caters for all ages, felt very welcome on arrival and friendly, helpful staff. Food menu was good with kids menu. Only problem was condition of mens toilets when I took my 3 year old they were a bit disgusting to say the least but overall a good place to stop off for a refreshment/chill after doing the hardknott pass!

Lovely place and lovely service. It was super busy due to eskfest but they were as efficient as they could be and worked rely hard to accommodate everyone. Food was ok although chips were a bit greasy.

I camped in their camping field for a couple of days, never been to this part of the Lakes before and instantly fell in love! Atmosphere is superb, food is yummy and the staff are all amazing, as a lone camper I was made to feel very welcome and completely relaxed and the new camping showers are just what is needed at the end of a days walking! Will definitely be back, a proper home from home (not that I live in a tent but y'know what I mean) A true Lakeland gem.

Fantastic food, great cider collection, very helpful staff. Stopped for something to eat after some climbing at the top of wrynose pass and discovered that had torn a tyre. As I don't have a spare I needed to call for rescue but I had no signal. The staff were kind enough to let me borrow their phone to call the recovery service and I enjoyed a drink and a lovely pizza while I awaited my knight in a shining tow truck.

Outstanding pub. Friendly staff, great selection of ales, ciders and spirits (nice local gin). We all ate and I highly recommend to anyone who is in the vicinity to come here for food (great local specialities and meats) and for evening drinks. The food really was top notch. I would advise to book a table though, not surprisingly it gets really busy. Loved it!

We stumbled across the Woolpack Inn purely by chance, what a hidden gem, friendly staff and a great atmosphere, food was great, I highly recommend trying a pizza, many thanks!

Stopped off on our way to climb Scafell Pike for a bite to eat. Bacon an egg sandwich with a mug of tea did the job. Went back a few days later for a meal and the chicken, ham and leek pie was gorgeous. Friendly staff too.

Love this place, often visit when passing or staying at the local Eskdale Camping and Caravanning club down the road. Fantastic food, pizzas are awesome, frequently changing selection of ales — all well kept. Sun drenched beer garden (when it actually shines). Staff are friendly and polite, free Wi-Fi. Occasionally they have live music too. They have an old army truck which they give lifts back to the campsite at night after a few beverages. Do visit if you're passing!

Wonderful place, Really attentive staff. Some negatives — -Room 3, small (in fairness we did get a discount for this) -Room 6, we were moved here after 2 nights. A little more space, however a BIG problem — an adjoining door through which you could hear everything from the next room. Ideal for a family but not so for a couple in their 50's. -Finally, on first night we had to send back both of our meals. My steak was underdone and my husband's pie was the wrong one! To be fair, they did rectify this problem quickly and we both got a drink on the house. Meals were good but they need to ditch the iceberg lettuce! Mixed leaves would be a much tastier alternative, Some positives — -Glorious location. You can go on several walks in the Eskdale Valley and you don't have to drive anywhere. — The Woolpack is being upgraded and you can see that from the bar area. Very nice surroundings. Log fires in abundance. — Attentive staff. Always remembered what you were drinking or what you liked for breakfast. — Dog friendly (although we had left ours at home) -They will make you a very nice pizza (or some very small sandwiches) to take on your long walk for the following day. — Excellent breakfast. — You can play table tennis outside after your walk. To summarise, I would return to the Woolpack, but I would be asking for a room without an adjoining door. Staff are marvellous. Location is fabulous.

The "Pig Burger" is excellent, among the best pork burgers I've eaten to date. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the food arrived in good time. Definitely worth a visit!

A friend and I had been mountain biking for 9 hours before reaching the youth hostel a little way down the road and heading to the nearest pub for a pint and a bite to eat. The main menu stopped serving at 9pm and we entered, went to order at 9:03pm. We were told that we couldn't have anything off the main menu, only the pizza menu, which was pretty expensive and lacklustre. The beer wasn't too good either and the atmosphere on this Saturday night was one of the staff being impatient that they couldn't finish work to socialise. If we weren't so tired & hungry we'd have gone a bit further afield.
