Just had the take out sunday dinner was beautiful well worth the money everything cooked to perfection, highly recommend.

The place was really busy with people getting an early Sunday lunch but they went out their way to make us a couple of coffees. Really friendly.

Just had Sunday lunch delivered, absolutely beautiful. Large tray of veg, meat and gravy separate. Arrived piping hot despite it being about 15 minutes drive for delivery.

I got a pork carvery, food was okay, meat had quite a bit of fat on. I ordered 2 cans of Pepsi max but only received 1 and when I messaged about them it was ignored.

It’s a very homely place, seems to be a project going on at the moment, building wise etc,, but the staff are really nice and the food is 1st class.

Just had a takeaway mince and dumplings and roast beef dinner, absolutely amazing and a massive portion, definitely be getting another one sometime soon.

Had Christmas dinner there with family & friends. My first visit. I can highly recommend it. Food was great. Service was great. Staff & owners are courteous, friendly & helpful. They make you feel really welcome & even though they were busy they made time to chat to all their customers.

Whether you have food from the hotel itself or the cafe, the result is the same. Lovely home cooked food served by very friendly and welcoming staff. Highly recommended.

The carvery was absolutely delicious well worth the journey.

Lovely and well presented food, prices are very good for a room, bar and restaurant. Good atmosphere and well spaced out restaurant. If I have to work in the area again then I would probably look to stay here for a short stay. Well impressed for a last minute booking!

Omg just had a small Sunday carvery delivered it was beautiful and cant believe that was a small will definitely be making this a regular delivery 10 out of 10 will be looking at the midweek menu after todays meal.

Stopped for a later evening meal-we both ordered rump steak medium cooked-My friends looked like a rump steal — Mine was like a flat pancake-never rump steak like hers — she said it looks like a piece of frying steak-on paying she was told it’s just the way the butcher cuts them — oh yes! — never had a Rump steak looking like that before — suffice to say we won’t be eating here again-waste of my £11.95-not all bad the lady who served us was very nice.

Ordered a few times since the Hotel appeared on JustEat. Portion sizes are extremely generous, food is fresh and tasty, and very good value for money. Having an excellent pub menu, available just up the road is unreal. Very fast, friendly and reliable delivery. Thank you! (Off back to share my Cajun burger with my toddler 🤣)

Yummy food and cheap drinks, friendly staff. Always a service with a smile. Quick with takeaway deliveries too.

Seriously impressed. Ordered for my husband's birthday, he loves a curry and our usual haunt wasn't an option in the current climate. Excellent customer service, authentic, flavourful food, delivery on time to the second, and now I can't breathe I am so full. I would definitely recommend, fantastic!

Had a lovely meal last night with a group of friends. The staff were very friendly and we had great service. I opted for the Indian menu and it was very tasty. I had Bhuna prawn on puri, the puri was the best I’ve ever had. The Punjabi king prawn was delicious, the portions were very generous, I couldn’t fault a thing I will certainly be back.

Went for a Sunday dinner with the other half and the food was absolutely gorgeous! Massive servings and so cheap! Only let down was with this being our first time we didn’t have a clue where to go or what to do and it was sooo busy we couldn’t even see staff, so maybe someone on the door to greet staff or a sign telling you how to go about the place would be great!
Will definitely be be an next week for another gorgeous dinner.

Great place to stay and very friendly hosts. Rooms are lovely and breakfast is great. The meats were coming out for sunday lunch and looked fab. If we didnt have to travel back to Coventry we would have stayed again for lunch. Thanks again.

Was just driving past, and thought need a coffee (was Sunday lunchtime) as driving back from Keswick. And what a find, huge place does all food and drink, the Sunday roast was fantastic, huge portion and well cooked.

Went for Sunday carvery and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Came for breakfast Sunday at 10.00 very little food left and was charged £18 for 2 breakfasts and instant coffee! And also had my comments on the breakfast removed! Will definitely not be going there again!

Th3 fish and chips were brilliant. I know the place has just been refurbished, just be careful when leaving the car park its on a fast busy road.

The food was speedy and excellent, and the coffee some of the best I have had. Plus they are in one of the most scenic areas of Durham.

Looked for someware to eat late lunch early tea. The only place open we were made very welcome we are vegie so we found the staff most obliging. Thy couldent do enough for us nothing was a trouble it was warm welcoming and there was nothing left on the plate 's ive never been anyware that made there own deserts from scratch ive been for sunday lunch that was top notch so many different veg 3/4different meats you could have all or one nothing is a bother we will be going again.

My first visit, a Christmas meal with a dozen friends. The food was brilliant, a carvery, with lots of choice. The desserts were lovely, and decent sized too. Friendly staff made it even better.

Im their delivery driver! Nice people are julie and benny iv delivered to them for over a year always friendly good relaxed atmospher family friendly pub! good food etc. Im always welcome on my route even if im not delivering to them on that day to pop in put the kettle on have a meal etc I always look forward to my bacon butty on a friday morning lol.

Just had our wedding there the pub was fantastic with great food that all my guests commented on about how nice it was the rooms where all occupied by the wedding guest's who all said the beds where really comfortable and soft the breakfast was great too thanks for making our wedding go smoothly Denise and Andrew Dixon xx.

Lovely carvery, didn't get the mash cause it looked lumpy but that's just a personal preference. Apart from that it's lovely, mushy peas are a bonus too, cauliflower cheese dead creamy, definitely recommend.

Just had our wedding reception here, outstanding service, amazing food, excellent staff, gorgeous room to stay in, definitely recommend to any one.

I enjoyed my stay here. I'd usually take porridge but my mates eventually persuaded me to the big fry up. I would highly recommend the fish and chips. The fish is freshly battered and non of those frozen chips but freshly cut. The appearance is a bit rough on the outside and the main road can get busy from seven onwards but the most appealing aspect of this location is the sounds of the curlew, lapwings and other upper heathland birds. The views are as you can see.

Very friendly people with excellent service for the low cost to stay. I would have given 4 star if the rooms where a little newer, but they are clean and do fit in with character of the building. Overall I will go back if I am in the area.

The most laid back landlord and land lady you will ever meet. Very pleasant and helpful staff too. The meal is first class. Why not try the sunday carvery for yourself or simply drop in for a variety of dishes on offer. You will enjoy the curry if you love curry you will feel at home here…

Stopped here for lunch on the way back to Scotland. Absolutely fantastic home cooked food, great quality and proper portions. The staff were an absolute pleasure and I have no hesitation in recommending this place to anyone. I will certainly be stopping here again.

The food was really tasty, and the staff were lovely. The place was spotlessly clean, and the toilets were nice too. It seemed a little expensive, but then we realised that we would be getting everything freshly cooked, like our chips and the chicken, and they completely loaded our plates. We even ended up chatting with one of the staff about Newcastle university, and she was really helpful. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

The Carvery was lush. Love coming here.

Fantastic carvery for Sunday lunch. Choice of generous portions of beef, pork or gammon, or a bit of each. Help yourself to a variety of vegetables, roasties, mashed potato, turnip, carrots, cauliflower, peas, Yorkshire puds and stuffing.

Just spent 3 days at the Brown Horse Hotel, Tow Law, on a business trip. I can't praise it highly enough. A warm welcome, great home made food and Bennie's curries are as good as any Indian restaurant I've used, and I've used a fair few all over the country (and at a far better price). Julie's attention to detail is spot on, good old fashioned values; can't beat them. I will definitely be back for both business and pleasure. I will recommend this hotel to both business coleagues and friends. Thanks for looking after me; what a difference from the non-descript multi-nationals I usually have to stay in.

I go to the Brown Horse every sunday with my family for the carvery and it's excellent. I would like to try a sweet one week but im always too full after the dinner, ive also been to the indian night on fridays and couldn't fault it, superb.

Been they last week the food is poor the staff are so rude etc to me and my wife.
