Excellent, restaurant quality food, good beer, good service and friendly staff. Well behaved dogs are allowed in the bar area.

Wonderful in every respect. We are going back later in the year. Room was clean and comfortable, the staff were attentive and friendly, the food was first class and the beer very drinkable. An excellent location with good local walks; and the perfect weather was a bonus.

We ate here whilst on holiday in North Yorkshire/Durham area. It was slightly more expensive than we would normally pay, but, the food was delicious. I chose the Venison Pie — not sure if I would like it… it was really tasty. This pub is dog friendly so another plus. There were 3 more dogs in the room when we were eating, all well behaved. If we go back to the area we would definitely eat there.

Perfect for couples and friends Brilliant food great location alongside a historic church and quiet hamlet.

We have stayed here many times and we can highly recommend this hotel. The rooms are decorated and furnished to a high standard. The house keeping is excellent, all rooms are impecably clean. The staff team are consistantly kind, friendly and helpful. Having eaten meals in both the bar and the restuarant we can confirm that the food served is delicious and of excellent quality. We just can't wait to stay again. Just gets better and better. Update. Recent two night stay for birthday celebration with family and friends, absolutely wonderful. The care and attention given by all staff in all departments was outstanding. The food and menu choices were excellent, delicious and well presented. We will return! Update. A further two visits to the R&C, sensitive updates and refurbishments carried out over the new year shutdown are very pleasing. As on all previous visits the food, cleanliness and care given by all staff was impeccable.

Beautiful place. Peacefull. Just 1 or 2 things. Tv not working. Only a small sellection for dinner but all thanks to staff. Very helpfull especially Hellen. Lovely girl. Will defo stay again.

An all round first class experience. Lovely setting, clean luxurious room and facilities. Food and service lovely. But what sets it apart is the people. Well trained and motivated, staff who really cared added to the experience.

Pretty village, very expensive pub, staff miserable. Be careful of dogs in house next door, they are described as excitable on the sign, I would suggest a different word.

Comfortable accommodation with delicious food. Friendly but unobtrusive staff. Highly recommended.

Friendly professional with lovely food. The bedroom was very comfortably equipped and the bathroom had an excellent shower and a heated mirror that worked! The Rose and Crown is very traditional with open fire in the bar and a paneled dining room. Romaldkirk is a lovely old village with many more sheep than people. A very restful spot.

Took a coffee and scone break during a long hike which was our first visit… although we do only live 2 miles away. It was excellent. Fast and efficient servuce even on a busy Sunday. The scones were delicious and warm from the oven and the coffee was real. Would definitely recommend it and we intend doing some further exploration of their menu by booking an evening meal.

A cosy quintessentially British pub. We've sat in the bar for several meals and the food is always of a good quality. The beer is good but more local beers would be ideal. A definite must if staying in the area.

Good food in a delightful environment. Rather pricey though.

A superb pub. Great choice of drinks, well decorated too. Attentive staff and a very appealing menu.

Friendly staff. Clean. Superb meals. Fantastic ensuite rooms.

The restaurant/bar has a good selection of food. The burgers are good and the two people I was with said that the beef cheek was extremely good. Especially the gravy. The vegitarian options are limited, but they desserts are good. There is a good selection of wines and beers and the laid back atmosphere is great.

Very friendly pub in a lovely village. We had a pint outside, others were eating and the food looked good.

We came to the Rose and Crown for Easter Sunday lunch and it was excellent. The food and service were top notch and we had a brilliant time. Would definitely come here again.

This hotel has a delightful old world ambience with a warm, welcoming staff. There was excellent service and food was of a high quality and well presented. Though top of our local restaurant price range it was good value for money. As dog owners we noticed owners and their dogs were made most welcome which is rarely seen in English establishments.

Enjoyed the food today and the real ale. Unfortunately the ambience of a relaxing lunch was marred by two smelly dogs and the arrogance of their owner. If you have a policy that allows ' clean dogs in the bar ' then why allow two large smelly ones in the lounge?

Great rooms and service, food was brilliant and the general atmosphere. Not much in the location but great for walkers. Local towns and villages a short drive, beautiful area.

Called in for a drink while cycling home half a plnt of beer and a j2o £6:75! what a rip off will never go there again.

Gorgeous lunch in the bar. Hubby chose the Beef Broth, followed by Mrs Slack's Sausages, I had soufflé and Roast codling. We couldn't manage dessert. Dog is always welcome in the bar, and there was a roaring fire in the grate. We don't visit often, but it is always brilliant when we do.
