The highlights were the fabulous food and lovely friendly staff. Our room was comfy and nice and warm. The breakfast set us up for the day. We stayed 7 nights wish it was longer. Hopeto go again in spring.

Stayed in Middleton with a group of friends. We came to the Teesdale Hotel as a group of 10 for Sunday lunch.
Absolutely amazing home cooked food… Beef was melt in the mouth, Pork and Turkey equally gorgeous… plenty of vegetables.
The staff were lovely, accommodating and very helpful.
All Covid measures in place and adhered to.
Would highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely place to stop off for a drink and a meal. Staff are friendly and food very nice. Nothing better than sitting outside in the sun and people watching.

Just had take away Sunday Lunch — absolutely lush — we will be back.

Disgusting attitude of female bar/restaurant staff member. Seeming unaware that it was both inappropriate and incredibly unprofessional to launch a personal attack against me based only on my appearance in front of my family and children today. Disappointed we chose to have lunch here.

Just back from a lovely 3 night stay, hotel was immaculate and food amazing … but the staff make it! Dave and Sally and rest of staff make it feel like a home away from home! will definitely go back… and I can highly recommend the mushroom/ chorizo pear barley risotto (I need recipe for this! )

We only stayed one night as part of a cycling tour but it was excellent. The staff were very friendly, the evening meal fantastic (including a great vegi menu) and the bar cosy and inviting with a bit of life to it and great beer choice. They also put our bikes in a locked shed, although Middleton in Teesdale didn't strike s a high crime area! We would recommend The Teesdale to anybody looking to stay in this lovely area.

We were staying nearby and stumbled across this pub. The service was excellent and the food was superb. My father and husband had the ploughman’s and they say it was the best they have ever had! Dog friendly which is a plus for us, will definitely be returning.

Lovely welcoming and friendly staff who take care of you. The vegan food was awesome and our overnight stay was perfect. Will defo be going back again.

An unexpected stay for 4. Ignore the old fashioned and slightly shabby look. Friendly staff, good beer, excellent food and comfy bed. All at a decent price.

Reading some of the reviews really makes me shake my head. This is a 2 star hotel so if you want 5 star then don’t book here! This is a 17th century coach house and you find yourself wondering about the types of travellers who have used it over the years. The hotel has a quaint feeling about it and my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our couple of days here. Yes, the furniture in the rooms are dated, but at the end of the day a wardrobe is a wardrobe… I managed to hang our clothes up… job done! Yes, the dressing table is old, but we managed to use it… job done! The rooms were really clean, the linen on the bed was pristine, the towels were spotless and soft. The bathroom was especially clean which is a big plus from us. Though the bathroom was a bit cold, the hot water was red hot so that’s all you can ask for. Like I said it’s a 2 star, not a 5 star. We booked through Groupon and got an amazing deal and as my husband is being made redundant at the end of the year, these types of deals are especially great for us to get a few days away. We originally were supposed to travel last week but due to the weather we couldn’t make it. Dave allowed us to postpone our trip for a week, no problem… he could have refused, as per the terms and conditions of the booking stated. We were also travelling with our two dogs who were made a fuss of by all the staff. The food was amazing, what a lovely selection of meals were available, we were so impressed that we ate there on both nights.

Place isn't too bad called in for a quick pint and a sandwich bar is a bit dark even though lights were on bar staff friendly.

A beautiful old hotel in one of Britain's prettiest upland villages. Vegan choices on the menu too.

Lovely village, has kept its rural charm. The inn is an old coaching rest stop. They do a superb selection of food cooked to a high standard. Excellent choice of real ales I spent a quiet afternoon reading while sampling there beer. Staff are very friendly and willing to have laugh with you. Perhaps needs a decor update but other than that it's clean and tidy. Would certainly stay here again.

The Teesdale staff are exceptional from the front desk to the bar, all were accommodating and easy to talk to. Breakfast was fantastic, Dale was a wonderful chap who enjoyed good conversation and was always happy to help. Our room was a bit small and Wi-Fi was not great, but we enjoyed hanging out in the eclectic pub area.

Chose this hotel for its central location for local walking, and because it offered dinner, bed and breakfast package. Room was clean though dated, and bathroom a little cramped. Fan in bathroom didn't work so very steamy. Food and service were both really good. All staff were helpful, polite, professional. There was a vast choice of dinner from quite elegant dishes to hearty steaks and burgers. Ww are in the restaurant but the same food was available in the cosy bar, which was well populated with guests and locals alike. Our room was on the front of the building and we were disturbed at 5am by the bin lorry directly outside and at 6am by the recycling so would definitely check the day and room location for another visit to avoid this. Home cooked breakfast was also generous and despite a busy dining room was swiftly and politely served.

This is a charming, comfortable and friendly place. We ate and drank but didn't stay. The staff were lovely; friendly and kind to both our children and our dogs. The food was very good and the beer perfectly regional…! We would most definitely go again and will do so the next time we're in the area.

Stayed on the 7 January via a Groupon deal for £89 including dinner bed and breakfast. A lovely welcome from reception on arrival with very simple but helpful instructions for our stay. A typical rural hotel so don't expect 5 star accommodation — however our room was very clean and had a good nights sleep. The bar (with an open fire) was nice and modestly priced and one again friendly bar staff. We decided to have our evening meal in the bar rather than the dining room. The prawns were to die for and the steak and black sheep ale pie would have easily served two people and was fantastic. As per other comments the sticky toffee pudding was out of this world. Overall a lovely hotel, exception value via Groupon and would go again. Note there isn't much to do in the town if you are wanting to sample a few real ale pubs…

Fabulous food, very moreish. Felt completely at home here. This is the place I want to spend a few days in, walking the hills, getting Brahms and Liszt and stuffing my face with good food. Excellent relaxing atmosphere.

The staff are absolutely beautiful, very friendly, very helpful, very polite. The menu is amazing and, the taste and flavour outstanding! I'd highly recommend this place to anyone, you will not be disappointed! … Thank you to everybody at the Teesdale for making our stay a weekend we'll never forget!

Nice little hotel — staff were brilliant and made every effort to make our stay enjoyable. Loved the rural location of Teesdale but Durham was still an easy drive away. Lots to see and do in the area.
