Definately a place we will stay at again. Staff tip top, dinner and breakfast perfect, mine hosts friendly and helpful, room large (we had a verandah) quiet and peaceful. 1 star missed for a 5 star review only due to little things that were not available but owners with their refurb, will correct.

Have stayed here on a few occasions no complaints nice rooms and a good breakfast. Had a bad meal once after new ownership. Having called in again for a quick bite to eat can't fault it seems like it's back to where it was a couple of years ago.

Food was nicely prepared in general, only criticism is cabbage not cooked at all. However was very pricey for the portion sizes. The service was poor, inattentive with zero social skills. I'd forgive this if was busy but it was fairly quiet. Would not go back.

A nice enough hotel. Reasonably priced. You need to ask for quiet rooms of you don't want to be stuck over the bar.

Nice venue, food has been a little hit or miss for me, but staff are always happy to help and solve any problems.

The Redwell Inn is close to and easy to find from Barnard Castle. It has a beautiful outdoor area, and the staff are very friendly. My room was slightly bare with no chair, just a bed and coffee area. The window was open when I arrived and had no locks on it when I closed it. Whilst the hotel was pleasant, the decor wasn't really to my liking feeling slightly dated and run down. Breakfast in the morning was solid standard fare, although they had run out of our first choice of breakfast (Yoghurt and fruit) despite there being quite a small number of guests. The staff once again were kind, polite and helpful. All in all a good place for a standard experience, but there was nothing that made the stay feel exciting or special.

Went for a meal last night 21/4/2018 four of us the food was good I must admit, had the evening meal menu very limited to what was available then asked for a pudding menu only to be told the chefs had gone home and the kitchen was closed, I always liked eating at the red well but the chefs going home before everyone has finished their meals or able to order a pudding think the management need to speak to the kitchen staff!

Ordered ham sandwich and chips after waiting for over 40mins asked waitress how long food would be she was very apologetic saying new management had taken over food arrived about 15 minutes later. Sandwich was a disgrace thrown together and the chips were thin frozen ones from Herons in Barney. Saw him walk in the back with carrier bags. Bill with 2 drinks nearly £17. Used pub regularly when in area not any more. Have been told new management from Feb 18 will try again when next in area.

Smelly reception as soon as you enter the building. Don’t take Amex. I was staying in a double room with only one lamp on one of the bed tables and only a little bottle of body soap. There was no hand soap and the paper almost run out of. No phone in the rooms either. And they charge 80£/night for this. Wow.

Good stop over place, pleasant rooms and excellent freshly cooked breakfast.

Nice little country pub. Pub grub was alright but nothing special. Warm and friendly greetings. Bustly little pub.

Enjoyed a meal here the other day, had a Northen favourite The chicken parmo. Decent sized parmo with homemade chips and garlic mayo was very tasty. A little pricey at £10.95 but enjoyed it, can't complain about that because someone else paid!

Lovely friendly pub/ restaurant / accommodation excellent service. 10 mins walk to delightful little town of Historic Barnard Castle.

Superb hospitality, loveliest staff, delicious food huge portions, they really love to feed people here, superb breakfasts, comfortable spotless rooms but really people with the largest hearts.

The food was fantastic. The customer service could be a little better but the food looked and tasted very good. Some things are also a little pricey.

We popped by this establishment for lunch as part of an organised cycle ride. The food was excellent, rapidly served and of impressive quantity (which after a morning of cycling was appreciated).

Absolutely fabulous Sunday dinner here with the family. Food and service were brilliant, and they were very accommodating for the toddler (kid's portion, cold plate etc. ). Thank you.

Good food. Service good but little slow to take payment — had to queue. Only one person on the bar at the time. Location. Good not too far out of town walkable.

Great food and service. Plenty of nice options you don't usually get in pub food. Drinks were good and a very cosy atmosphere on an evening.

Food very good, but! Service at breakfast was miserable, shower was crap, TV reception was virtually non existent so gave up trying. Kettle had to be plugged in on the floor cos the flex was too short. Need I go on we won't be coming back.

A nice looking place to stay. However the room was very small and the en suite was very dated the shower smelt very foisty and looked very worn out with damp markings. I tried not to be in there too long. The service at breakfast was terrible. We were seated had our order taken and ended up waiting for the food for just over 30 minutes. We hadn't even ordered a full breakfast, there was only one member of staff on and we were either forgotten about or the waitress was also acting as chef. I would not recommend this inn.

Food is always great — good value and great portions. Bar is open all day and friendly. Mix of locals and visitors. A lot of our visitors from around the UK use The Red Well when staying in Barnard Castle. Good value — lots of parking, good location. IE — Although not in centre of town its an easy and pleasant walk should you want to see Barnard Castle — a lovely market town.
