Really delicious food but small portions. Ordered Thai green chicken curry and didn't even receive a full breast of chicken. £16 for rice, vegetables and a few bits of scrap chicken with a spicy coconut sauce.

Excellent food, enjoyed so much on Saturday, returned to eat again Monday evening. Essential to book weekends. Chef trained at the Savoy in London; food well above usual pub standard.

First night of a motorcycle trip. Made very welcome. Lovely accommodation & staff couldn't do enough to make the stay enjoyable. Would go back.

Very warm and welcoming and a great meal, steak cooked perfectly and desert was lovely will definitely go again.

Smart country pub for drinks and or food, has a few rooms as well. In nice little village with lovely walks by the Tees nearby.

Great place. Booked in and was pleasantly surprised at the lovely double room suite. We had reserved a table for dinner and had a lovely meal from a new menu and they catered for our 8 year old as well. We had a great night sleep. The breakfast set us up for the day! Would recommend and we will definitely come again.

Beautiful food and amazingly helpful staff. Our service was impeccable and so welcoming.
The usual look of horror I receive when I mention being vegan was no where to be seen while Thomas said 'that's fine, what would you like' outstanding welcome. I was made a delicious light curry that was cooked perfectly and full of fresh clean flavours, my other half has rib beef with tradition veg and Yorkshire pud. Both plates were empty which was an achievement as we shared and olive and bread starter, just too good to leave!

Wonderful place would highly recommend it. Food is the best we have eaten in ages and the staff are so helpful and polite nothing is to much trouble. The rooms are nice and the bed was comfy just what the traveller needs. Thomas is a fantastic host as well definitely five stars all round.

Our stay over the weekend, 7th to 9th April, at the Fernaville Rest was absolutely faultless, beautiful residence, immaculate rooms, fantastic food, beers and Gin, peaceful, and perfectly located to visit the local towns and attractions.
Thomas, Nichola and their fantastic staff were very attentive and made us feel extremely welcome, we would 100% recommend the Fernavile's Rest, go and try it out, you will not be disappointed

Absolutely loved this little hotel Tom and his staff were a delight, looked after us brilliantly. Great food and drinks. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Would recommend anyone who is going up and around Barnard Castle give it a try. Well done Tom.

Just had a wonderful lunch at Fernaville's Rest lovely atmosphere and helpful staff. Can't wait to go back. Had an evening meal between Xmas and New year and it was great would definitely recommend you try it.

Excellent place to stay! We spent 4 days in the area and Fernavilles Rest could not have been a better base to return to each evening. Such a welcoming host, great food, lovely atmosphere, attentive and friendly bar/restaurant staff, and a excellent room to boot. All you could want from a country inn, and the rest. Had a wonderful stay — will definitely be booking again when next in the area.

Thomas, Nicola and their staff have a lovely place. The food was excellent, both dinner and breakfasts. Dogs very friendly — it's a very dog friendly place. Room spotless, just wish they could have squeezed a chair in. Stayed three nights and did everything we wanted in that time.

Delightful, food is excellent, staff are very good. We have eaten here twice and made very welcome on both a occasion.

Love it here. Have used it twice now as a pit stop on a long drive from either end of the country. Once as a bnb and once just for dinner. Great location, lovely walks for the dog and just such a nice atmosphere. Staff are so welcoming. I'll be back time and time again! Thank you.

Even though Fernavilles Rest is local to us, we've never been before, so we visited for the first time on Saturday night, last minute decision, I rang at 7:15 pm to book a table and by 8:00 pm we were enjoying our starters! The whole evening was absolutely awesome. A quiet, cosy atmosphere, with a little background music, polite and courteous staff, the service was exceptional, the beer was excellent, as was the wine, and the food was absolutely out of this world. Very reasonably priced too and all the food was home made and freshly prepared. The attention to detail was a nice touch with candle lit tables and crystal cut glasses etc. And the chef even came out and apologised when my first choice from the menu was sold out, there were plenty of other dishes to choose from however, so it wasn't a big deal, words simply cannot describe how fantastic the food was and I would go as far as to say it was the best dining experience we have ever had! But don't take my word for it, go and try it for yourselves. You will not be disappointed.
Highly recommended and we will definitely be visiting again.

Stayed one night 28th december …,, absalutley loved this place what a find host tom couldnt be more warm and accomodating but not overbearing … the pub is warm snug and very inviting … our double en-suite room was immaculate and for £50 per night with breakfast was truly amazing value … food was fresh and delicious and would defo come back again … well done tom and all staff ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ see you in 2017

Lovely lunch in the sunshine with excellent beer reasonably priced, what more does one need?

Lovely clean tidy luxury rooms family run great food and value for money just lovely people and a great place to stay.

Spent a fortune doing up this quaint pub on the river then turned it into a sports bar with plasma TVs.
