Just got back from a night stay, lovely hotel, staff are so friendly and helpful, breakfast was amazing, everything and more you could ask for, think the bar could have a couple of higher tables as they serve food and very difficult to eat off coffee tables.

Having stayed in this hotel back in 2015/16 this place has gone right downhill possibly after Covid 19. I paid for a superior room but only had a standard room and this was two single beds put together. Dining was like a seat a McDonalds and the dinner wasn’t as good as Weatherspoons. A plus point was the breakfast no complaints there. Plentiful and of a good standard. You can’t blame the young staff for bad customer service as it’s just a lack of training nothing to do with their experience as they were pleasant enough as people. Even the toilet tissue was substandard but apparently it’s the Raddison standard but hardly matched public toilets. We had a conversation with another couple who felt just the same but if nobody complains the hierarchy sitting in their twin towers will do nothing about it.

The hotel is beautifully and perfectly situated within the scenic tranquil historic city of Durham, superbly sited by the river. It’s warm welcoming reception and staff only add to its perfect ambiance of excellence, all exclusively compounded by its facilities embedded by superb food, relaxing rooms that indulge your every requirement and personal need. Excellent choice for a city break in the uk, well done Radisson Blu perfect in every way thanks for an enjoyable stay👍

Great staff friendly atmosphere beautiful location.

I and my mother have just stayed at the hotel. The room was perfect and the evening meal superb also on reception was a fantastic lady called Martine Mitchell she helped us so so much and was so friendly and resolved a problem we had within minutes nothing was a problem and made us so welcome we could not fault her and she is a credit to the company regards Gaynor Dos Santos.

Our go to bolt hole. Great location, fantastic staff and nice accomodation and the best breakfasts. Our 5th visit in 3 months says it all. Another stay booked and can't wait to go back. Afternoon tea is amazing and worth a shot if you have time.

Nice room with a view. Food was excellent and could not fault 1 morsel of it! Well done to the friendly and (not overbearing restaurant staff) made us feel special during our meal. A great experience for a reasonable price better than many city restaurants I've been to.

Great little spa break on wowcher, don’t get ripped off by the £14 parking, next door car park is £3 for 24 hrs if bought on a weekend. Dinning and breakfast staff were spot on, very friendly and nothing was a bother, spa area was spotless, sauna, steam room and pool very nice indeed, son enjoyed the gym. Fantastic location for the city centre too. Building works going on all around but didn’t effect us one bit. Certainly do it again.

Third time I've been there, great location, spotless spacious comfortable rooms, staff are friendly, welcoming and very professional, in reception and the restaurant, quick check in (Anna, I think her name was, gave the impression that nothing was too much trouble) and check out took no time at all, facilities are fantastic, food is top notch especially the breakfast, would recommend staying without hesitation.

Fabulous hotel in a fabulous Location. We were here for New Years Eve party night and it was superb. Great room, great staff who were very helpful and worked very hard and the food was absolutely amazing. Best Hotel in Durham in my opinion.

Excellent Restaurant for evening meal and breakfast. Staff were very helpful and courteous. Large spacious rooms. Perfect situation to wander round Durham City.

Great location, only a 5-6 minute walk into the centre where the bars are. Quiet at night too, friendly staff and spacious suites.

We were having a relaxing spa day. Six of us. The spa facilities and treatments were fabulous and the staff were very friendly helpful and professional. However when we went to the bar for lunch our experience changed. We ordered lunch and prosecco and water for the table however when one of us enquired about the soup of the day the barman was unable to get a response from the kitchen… Half an hour later we still had no drinks and were given six dirty glasses for the prosecco which we had to return. 15 minutes later our drinks and half the food arrived… Minus cutlery and condiments… The food was adequate and nothing more… The staff were obviously unhappy. Half of us finished lunch and we then asked to speak to a manager. He eventually came to see us and apologised and chased up the remaining meals… We were given a free drink but the relaxing treat we had planned was ruined… Not the service you would expect from this hotel.

Yes although the excessive parking charge for one night so not free parking lovely breakfast self serve, jacuzzi swim pool excellent.

The hotel is nice but the pillows were so hard and the bar is very very limited and I thought £8.30 for a bailey’s hot chocolate is a tad extreme.

We had our wedding there and couldn’t ask ask for anything better. Staff were fab and food was amazing. Definitely highly recommended.

The package with groupon was s Fab price. The hotel is lovely and the beauty staff are all very lovely I picked a Swedish massage and facial it’s was amazing a great service. I do really think the hotel do need to think of what is available for their customers though, once we arrived and was shown around it was quickly noticed there wasn’t enough seating area around the pool. Myself and my two friends were only able to find a seat available late afternoon. Benefit was for around 20 minutes vectors out treatments were due. The afternoon tea area was at the other end of the hotel, myself and my friends choose to go there in our gowns but it wasn’t a pleasant experience we all felt cold maybe a area closer to the spa would be more beneficial. The over all day for the price of £59 pp was Fab felt toasty relaxed after our treatments.

I sort ov had a a time at my cousons weddin thankgod it wasn't in the hotel.

We stayed for 1 night this Wednesday 14th August. We got there early and parked up. The reception staff were really friendly and informed us their system was down and that we didn't need to pay for parking because of this. We were too early to checkin so went into the town centre. When we got back the system was still down but the staff were very apologetic and so helpful. It must have been a nightmare getting everyone checked in manually. The room was great for us still alot of space and very clean. I got excited over the washing line in the bathroom ha! We went down to the pool area which was nice and not too busy. We ate in the hotel restaurant which my meal was amazing. The beef I had just melted in my mouth. My husband was jealous he didn't get that! All the staff we encountered were really friendly and polite. We will definitely be back for a stay! x.

Used meeting/conference facilities today. The staff were helpful and professional and the Wi-fi worked well. A good location for those traveling by train.

The reception sent up some small birthday cakes for my partner's birthday, a very nice thoughtful gesture, all staff were very friendly, would definitely recommend.

A fantastic day, spa facilities and treatments leave you relaxed and happy. So much to enjoy with the pool sauna jacuzzi and steam room. The food was delicious and the staff so helpful. An excellent day I hope to repeat again soon.

Charged twice for room once on check in and once on check out and apparently that's just 'the way it is' or I should of used a credit card (however I believe they would have done the same thing on a credit card so glad I didn't as id be paying much more! ) Check out on the day was 12pm however telly and services cut off from 9am in room. Was giving 2 single beds pushed together as one for a double room. Swimming pool and stuff was great and breakfast was good. Would not return. Have to wait a week apparently for my first payment back they've took 400 for a 184 room and 2 breakfasts!

Top notch. Pool, workout area, and sauna are a giant bonus! As a traveling student abroad, this was refreshing to use the gym and sauna. Very much a bonus perk. Room was clean and very well kept. Breakfast was superb as well. Very much what you would expect in a top notch hotel! Bar was nice to relax at night as well. Staff was friendly and helpful when trying to asses the amenities and options as well. Would stay again and we’ll worth the price!

Stayed here twice in the last 2 weeks once in presidential suite which was just like a standard room but view was lovely, food wasn't anything special, spa area was nice enough we had to ask for robes but no slippers and floors were ridiculously sloppy.
Stayed again last night which was a deal on living social deals, room was practically no different from presidential suite even tho it was just a standard room and view was really crap, weren't offered robes in spa, had hardly any sleep as a fan or something kept coming on in the bathroom and couldn't get comfortable in the bed, staff were decent enough but not very thorough, hotel is ok but nothing special and had to pay for parking.

Very nice hotel, located in a beautiful location. River in front and places to spend in the banks. Views are awesome, cheaper compared to other hotels. Staffs very kind enough.

The afternoon tea we had was nice but there was not much to eat. The pieces of cakes were very small and the sandwiches had very common flavours. The spa facility is lovely but unfortunately the sauna was not working. It is also a shame we have to pay for parking. It is in a nice location though, near the river.

Went for afternoon tea, which was a gift from a family member. Well! We weren't given a choice of sandwiches, were brought cheese and pickle, which I hate, and my partner is allergic to. The "cakes" were something along the lines of Mr Kipling bakewell slices, not one home made cake, and yes, you've guessed it, my partner doesn't like marzipan. Very poor standards and value, I feel annoyed that my Aunty paid such an amount of money for such sub-standard food, not forgetting the tiny, hard scones, served by a bunch of wacky young lasses dressed for freshers week at uni. What a dreadful experience! You get 2 stars because the hotel is nice, and so was the twinings tea. Was expecting great things when I saw the Villeroy and Boch crockery, but it all went downhill after that. I'll be telling everyone I know to avoid this! And the music was awful.

Staying presently for my husbands birthday
Five stars go to house keeping the room was spotless and chambermaid very helpful. The room was fine and overlooking the river the staff look shattered and fed up if you want afternoon tea even as a guest staying two nights you must pre book which I feel is totally crazy this is England our usp is afternoon tea why oh why do you have to sit in the bar with the boozers you can’t sit in the restaurant for tea, this is just crass. We stayed at the Mayfair a couple of months ago and were also disappointed, this chain is owned by the USA who excel at customer service please please invest in your staff and teach them how to do it well. I am x catering so am aware of how it should be done so I’m a tricky customer. The gym and pool were not good staff ignored us and very unhelpful husband asked for a token for lockers as you rarely carry money if a guest and the young man rudely asked him why he didn’t have a pound the steam room not hot sauna not working pool was fine.
Durham is beautiful and money is being invested here so come on Raddision Blu.

Wasn't the best value for money considering some stuff atitudes when trying to deal with certain situations. I'd rather have rather stayed somewhere less expensive and not have to put up with key cards locking us out of rooms after requesting a late checkout. I feel there is better for the cost although I can say the additional facilities themselves were excellent, other than food which I didn't get a chance to experience.

When I go to Durham, stay at the Radisson!

Four star hotel situated near the train station. But if you are on foot you have to make a long way to reach. I'm Slightly disappointed that it's an eco hotel. Convincing people to not to change linens for 3 days is disgusting. It was near the river. Easily accessible to city centre. Tourist map that they give you is totally garbage. I'm glad that I have GPS in my smartphone. I liked the red theme. I've asked for a room facing the riverside. I've got no replies. Front desk agents are so so. Seeing that there is a one and only customer waiting at the reception desk and the staff simply acts like never seen from the back office is not nice. It makes a bad impression as well. They have got a nice restaurant. Friendly atmosphere, service and staff in the restaurant.

Had a really lovely experience I bought a voucher from Wowcher and I emailed to confirm my booking and mentioned that I wanted confirmation as it was for a birthday treat. We received a room upgrade and chocolate strawberries and cake in the room with a card saying Happy Birthday. Room wasn't quite ready when we got there however we got free drinks vouchers upon arrival thankyou. Room was lovely breakfast was amazing loads of choice. Would highly recommend and come again.

No complaints… I stay at these corporate hotels all the time so you know it's not going to have any unique charm, but it does what it should do and it's very good. Staff really nice and appear to be locals. Food good, restaurant good, gym and pool great, view out of the front over the river is nice too.

Went for afternoon tea and spa special with some friends. Had a lovely time, pool and jacuzzi were very pleasant if a bit packed. Staff very helpful and friendly, and a good selection of treats for tea. Good value for money.

Attended the Radisson for a social function. Lovely place, tables set very nicely. Food was delicious and hot. Professional and quick service. Good size dance floor. Drinks are very expensive though. That was the only negative.

Lovely modern hotel on the river close to city centre. Big well apoointed room. Friendly and attentive staff. For such a big hotel everything was smooth and slickly managed.

Excellent stay at the Radisson. Can't fault a thing. Easy to get to, with on site parking. Check in was straightforward and the room (Business Class on the 4th floor) was spacious and well equipped. Enjoyed our meal in the on-site restaurant and the buffet breakfast the next morning had plenty of choice. Service throughout was excellent and would go back in a heartbeat!

This is a really nice hotel situated on the river, close to the town centre. Our room was spacious, clean and well appointed. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Meals were good. Car parking is not free but reasonable considering the location. I would recommend this hotel and will be back.

Second time here came back for New year long weekend and can't falt anything, breakfast value for money and that much choice for anyone, went for a meal at night and food was just wonderful everything about it was faultless, went swimming, pool nice and warm all facilities spotless, lovely lounges if you want to chill, staff lovely and friendly we requested a river view again when we book and wasn't disappointed when we arrived as a river view we got, would definitely recommend and will definitely be back, thank you for making our stay another one to remember.

This is a lovely hotel in the heart of Durham. Very close to all the major attractions. I used the hotel for two nights on a business trip. As far as hotels go, this one met my needs; comfy bed, lots of space, great shower (small bathroom though) and a decent breakfast. I'll be staying here again when I come back to Durham.

Great stay! Fantastic view of the river. Easy to get to town. Super helpful staff that fixed my t. V. As soon as I told them and generally offer assistance when needed. Will be staying again!

Attended a wedding evening reception and the food (chicken, fish and mozzarella dippers) were all fried together, meaning there was no option for vegetarians.

The Radisson Blu Hotel offers one of the best hotel rooms in Durham. Place is good but the room was too bright in the morning, it should have better curtains. Great location and decent rooms. The hotel staff were very accommodating and professional.

We had afternoon tea and used the spa here after purchasing a groupon deal. It was such a relaxing evening-staff were lovely and the whole experience was wonderful. Delightful afternoon tea and a peaceful spa. Would highly recommend if you need some rest and relaxation.

We visited the Radisson hotel for a PuddleDucks swimming lesson. The changing rooms are clean and there is also a family changing room. The only downside top having swimming lessons there is that hotel policy doesn't allow non guests to watch from the poolside. That, however is more of a positive from hotel a guest's perspective. Overall a nice environment from what I've seen.

Had a lovely stay here. The staff were great and very helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. The food was pretty good and relatively good on cost. My wife and I enjoyed the pool and spa facilities which were pretty good. Will be returning again in the future.

Wonderful place to stay by the river. Impeccable service. If you can book superior room and you will get a view of the castle and river.

Room was tidy and had a nice view, however the air conditioning didn't work very well so it was too warm in the room through the night. The menu in the restaurant is limited and not what I expected from the hotel. The food we ordered tasted nice though. Breakfast the next morning was the best part of the stay!

Great room, clean and spacious with great view of the river and cathedral (Superior room is worth it). The building itself is modern and kept to a very high standard. Breakfast is very good with everything you could imagine available. Slight issue with the beds though which in themselves are clean and comfortable but for some strange reason the sheets don't quite fit the bed. Means while sleeping they move around and that can (and has, I'm on the second night of a two night stay) been quite an annoyance while sleeping. A small and odd (given how well done everything else is to not have sheets that fit the bed) issue in what is otherwise a great experience. Overall though, still highly recommended​.

Great location 10 minutes walk from Durham train station, however if you prefer to walk from the train station be aware of the steps and there are lots of them on the way to the hotel; excellent food in restaurant with affordable pricing considering to be a 4-star hotel (must try) ; friendly and attentive staff; spacious hotel lobby and lift; be reminded of that if you don't put a deposit for the room the mini bar in your room will not open, so do not try to yank it open; the room cleaness is not considered to be super but Okay if you are not picky as I had to ask for the toilet to be cleaned again upon my check-in. Highly recommend!

Excellent conference venue — they arrange parking and the rooms and networking spaces are well lit, clean, elegant and spacious. Networking space has floor to ceiling glass giving lots of natural light.

The staff have been lovely and the location is beautiful. The main issues are the room is basic, considering the price of the stay. No fridge, little storage and only 1 chair. The pool and gym are overcrowded and a little sparse, the steam room isn't steamy and the showers a little rough around the edges. I stay in durham regularly, the Marriott down the street is much nicer and a little cheaper.

Attended the hotel with friends prior to a social event. Although I didbt stay staff seemed very friendly and helpful, strong Wi-Fi in reception but average age of people checking in was about 50. Not likely to pull a fitty here, best bring a bird with you.

The hotel was beautiful. The room was really big and comfortable. The only downside was the bathroom had disabled facilities everywhere that got in the way a bit. Being an able-bodied person, I found the facilities to be an annoyance. The hotel location was perfect, next to the river and only a minutes walk from pubs and cafes.

Lovely hotel with spacious and very clean rooms. Offers a great night's sleep and large beds. Great river views. The location is great, however it can be difficult to get to on foot during times when the river floods though this should not detract from the excellent service the hotel provides — which includes providing towels for guests at the entrance during these flood times.

When out at the lumiair in durham we asked if there was any spaces left for us in the resurant, there wasnt but they were happy placing us in the bar, food was exalant especially for the price.

Service is disappointing, when I checked in the lady in reception gave me a trolley and told me to bring my luggage from the taxi to reception. The round table in the room hasn't been cleaned since the first day I checked in. My booking is for nine days and the napkins in my room finished and never been replaced. I was calling the "one touch service" many times with no answer to order some water, at the end I went down to reception to ask them for that my self. There is no complementary water in my room, I do not know if this is usual in the UK.

Gorgeous and very cosy hotel quite a quiet place to rest. There is a possibility of interesting walk in the surrounding area.

Absolutely fine, perfectly comfortable (and frankly the best of a bad bunch in Durham, which has exceptionally poor accommodation for a town of its size) but hardly somewhere that I'd leap to recommend for its character. If you've stayed in other Radisson hotels, you'll recognise this place: from the Scandinavian furniture to the spaghetti carbonara in Filini restaurant, it's indistinguishable from Abu Dhabi or Aberdeen. But if you're after a comfortable bed, decent shower and city-centre location, and Premier Inns ain't your thing, then this fits the bill.

Fabulous. Great staff, great food. Went with my husband for the first time in business class so you have free bar and free parking, then took whole family (3 children, ages from 6-17), had brill time in Filini's restaurant, the staff were very pleasant and kept us stocked up on free drinks for us and the kids, food was gorgeous. Highly recommended, definitely going again.
