Me and my friend went for the autumn spa package and it was worth every penny, the staff were lovely and the garden spa was amazing. Food was very nice and everyone was very professional, we will be returning.

Lovely spa day for my mums 65th birthday. We had a two course lunch which was absolutely beautiful. Mum said it was the best starter she has ever had. Spa was lovely, lots of different pools. However we found that it was too hot for us. We were told this was due to it being for hydrotherapy. There needs to be a cold/Luke warm pool, as there was no where to go to cool down. I had to lie down outside in the garden. Could do with more toilets. Staff were lovely especially on reception and in the restaurant. Would like to stay in the hotel.

Just had an absolutely fantastic day here. Spa facilities are amazing, staff in the spa and the waiter and waitress who served our lunch were absolutely spot on 😀 lunch was gorgeous and have to say Corrie gave me the best Spa treatment I have ever had and believe me I have had a few. We will definitely be back an absolutely fantastic and amazing day 👏👏😀😀

The top class service and beautifully presented food. Best I have had for a while. Spa is very relaxing with friendly staff. A place worth visiting. Immaculate grounds and rooms makes for a top class experience.

Had an amazing night at the hotel and fabulous day at the spa would 1000% recommend and will definitely be returning the food was delicious and the staff couldn’t do enough for you especially the receptionist (I didn’t get her name) me and my partner also had a back shoulder and neck massage was amazing and we wished we had booked longer treatments!

Lovely spa facilities, very relaxing, staff friendly and good service, lovely food in the restaurant and well worth upgrading, look forward to booking a return visit.

The spa is great and the 2 restaurants serve nice food and it's room are nice with great views second time here now.

Although the young lady who did my " Pedicure" was lovelyMy file and polish was definitely not a pedicure as advertised such a dissapointment, but even more so, 4 members of staff who were on duty, totally dismissed our angst. We (my friend) and I cancelled our further treatments that we planned Sadly Customer satisfaction, was not on the agenda 😕

Fantastic getaway, beautiful old quirky building, we had the 2 nights DBB with champagne cocktail on arrival, the lakes distillery tour, and 2 hours in the spa, the staff were lovely & friendly, the food on 1st night was in restaurant, it was lovely but preferred the bistro food on the 2nd night, the breakfast was amazing, great break and R&R for a few days, we were in bedroom 3, a bit tired and bed was very hard, but spotless, thoroughly enjoyed our few days and well worth the money, there is a service charge on bill which I happily paid as the service was 5* we also tipped on the 2 nights dinning as you would in any restaurant, well done appleby manor, we will highly recommend.

Appleby manor is amazing, relaxing and so quirky. We stayed for two nights on the gin spa breaks. The staff are a credit to this hotel, they are all friendly, attentive and nothing was a bother. A special mention to Alison on reception, a lovely lady and very helpful. The spa was lovely, 2 out door Jacuzzis, a lovely hydrotherapy pool (think that's what you call it), sauna, steam and salt room, just lovely relaxing and again staff were very helpful. The food was absolutely beautiful on both our nights and all the breakfast. We got a free upgrade and stayed in room 6. Lovely size room with quirky furniture that really fitted in with the atmosphere of the whole hotel. I generally give this hotel 5 stars as from arriving to leaving we were treat like ladies of the Manor. We will definitely be back.

From when we got to the Appleby Manor Hotel nothing was to much trouble for any of them food fresh hot and lovely spar lovely and relaxing and very friendly went out of there way to help hope to go again soon.

Amazing couple of days away with mum, the hotel, food, spa x staff who were so friendly x couldn’t do enough for you, helped make the perfect memory time for my final trip with my brave mum.

We had a lovely weekend away at Appleby Manor. The weather wasn’t on our side (rain, snow and brrrr all weekend) but we made the most of it and snuggled on the sofas, switched our phones off and recharged. The staff were lovely and nothing was too much of an ask. The food was delicious (we ate from both the restaurant and the bistro menu) and the bar selection was much more than we expected given the size of the venue. We both had individual treatments in the spa, though next time would book the 2hr spa journey instead so we could enjoy it together. Our weekend was a Christmas gift but we would book again for ourselves in the future!

Just back home from an amazing three day stay with Appleby Manor. Feeling very pampered and relaxed, especially recommend the infinity pool and water jets, and the superfood facial 😌 Gorgeous room and far reaching views, amazing food and drink (and plenty of it available day and night). Wonderful customer service from l the staff, who are hardworking, smartly turned out and all very professional. All in all, a lovely little break away.

Just had a 2 night break here, lovely place, full of original features & cosy fires! Nice & clean, outstanding food & the staff throughout are a credit to the hotel. The spa was lovely & I had the best facial I’ve ever had with Corrine, I’d deffo recommend booking with her. Will certainly be back 🌟

Great place with pleasant staff a great country house.

We had a wonderful day at the spa, we got a lovely welcome, the treatments were amazing. The infinity pool and outside hot tubs were a highlight and the food was delightful. Me and my friends loved it.

Amazing food! lovely old manor house. Just be aware extra cost for use of spa, (£20pp for 2hrs) which wasn't clear on booking info. That said, spa was lovely so shouldn't put you off.

Lovely night away, spa was gorgeous and very clean. The service from all members of staff was amazing too. The bistro food was very nice too and the views were incredible would highly recommend staying here.

I've just returned from Appleby Manor. From entering the hotel we felt very safe with covid restrictions everything was organised very well. We used the spa and had a lovely massage. The meal at night was excellent as was the breakfast this morning. My mam was born in Appleby and lived there for 20 years, she's had a good reminisce of her younger days, it was lovely to spend quality time with her in a lovely place Thank you everyone Xx.

We have just returned from our 3rd stay at Appleby. Despite the Covid restrictions the staff were extremely professional, pleasant and helpful and the hotel and grounds were beautiful as always. We have stayed in different rooms including the the lovely garden room and this time we were in a Manor Room overlooking the car park. As always it was a beautifully presented and spacious room, the only downside was the road noise — as it was warm we had the windows open. If that bothers you it’s probably worth asking about room location when booking. The spa of course was restricted because of Covid at the moment but it was still a pleasure to relax in what was available. Food wise — we had a lovely cream tea, nice meal in the Bistro and of course the restaurant experience as always was absolutely fabulous — both food and service. Thanks to all the staff for being so lovely especially having to wear their masks all day!

Been here a few times, love it! lovely spa area, lovely helpful staff. I call asleep at the treatment! Lol very substantial food portions. Highly recommend it! x.

Got a voucher off my daughter for Christmas, treatment by Beth and Chloe were lovely, the spa area is small with only 4 indoor seats which is a pain in inclement weather but that does not overly detract from the lovely facilities, lunch was very nice and portion sizes not to shabby. Would deffo visit again.

Stayed for 1 night we used the spa which is amazing I had a Indian head massage off chloe it was the best. The girls at the spa were really helpful. Had our meal in the bistro food was lovely the staff in the hotel where all very plesent and helpful breakfast was lovely to. We have nothing bad to say from the minute we went in until we left the staff where warm and welcoming will definitely be back. We had a good deal £35 per person to use the spa stay over for the night and have breakfast so for that price wasn't expecting the room to be so nice but it was we all had big rooms nice and warm to. Can't wait to return.

Best staff of any hotel I’ve ever stay in.

Came here for my birthday for a spa day with my mum, the spa is incredible and everyone is so friendly! We both had the best foot forward treatment that was just perfect, couldn’t of had a better afternoon.

We had a fantastic weekend relaxing and chilling out in the hotel and spa. The spa and treatments were amazing and every member of staff couldn't have been more attentive in looking after us and making sure we had the best time. We were upgraded during our stay to the Heelis room which was huge, very grand and had a jacuzzi bath. We regularly stay in spa hotels and this is definitely one of the best overall experiences we've had. Thank you! ✨

As soon as we arrived here I didn’t want to leave! The staff are amazing and the attention to detail — shown around the hotel, shown to our room etc — made this place unique. Too many hotels are soul-less now. This is not one of them. We had 2 nights with dinner, bed, breakfast, gin fizz, lake distillery tour and spa experience. The food is amazing and the little extras — canapés before dinner etc — just made our stay extra special. What a gem of a find. Me and my sister will be back. In fact we want to be regulars.

Just gotten home from a lovely weekend here. First visit. Lovely hotel and spa! Enjoyed the suite, very large and a gorgeous view. The grounds are well manicured and pretty. Food was really good, enjoyed a few wines, they had a nice selection. The hotel has lots of character and having antique furniture in the suite kept the feel of the place. The spa was relaxing and quiet on our visit. We both enjoyed our Indian head massages and spa time. Pauline on reception gave us a friendly welcome and tour, all the staff were attentive and couldn’t do enough for us.

What a wonderful few days! Garden bedroom was comfy, Dinner was delicious, spa was amazing and the staff are so welcoming and lovely.

I stayed here for only two nights, I was staying here because I am a photographer and was covering a wedding just 12miles away, it was a fabulous stay the hotel and all the staff was very accommodating and could not do enough for me, the hotel is very well kept and extremely clean my only regret is the wedding I was covering was not at this hotel, it looks extremely good and I know weddings are held here and hopefully I will be lucky enough to get the chance of shooting a wedding here one day, I am from Belper in Derbyshire so not lots of chances of visiting again I think but one never knows.

My 3 sisters and I stayed here for two nights and enjoyed the spa facilities together with a treatment. It is an annual meet up for us so we try to do something different each year. Appleby Manor was such a lovely place to enjoy our time away, the back drop, the food, the comfort of the hotel and friendliness of all the staff made it a truly wonderful couple of days. Angela and all her team made the us feel very at home… even to the point of allowing me to make mojitos. The little touches we found throughout the hotel all added to the enjoyment of the stay. I will most certainly be back for a return visit. Thanks for giving us some lovely memories.

Lovely views and scenery set in the pennines. Not as modern as I'm accustomed to. Fine dining restaurant. Bistro restaurant. Make sure to have cash or leave your card at the reception. Nice place for a quiet break away from the city.

Had a lovely time at Appleby manor today. Spa is in a nice setting. Facial was a nice treat followed by a nice 2 course lunch. Well worth a visit.

Beautiful place in a beautiful spot. Stayed for 2 nights, breakfast and evening meal included. We weren't disappointed with the food. Lovley friendly staff and our room opened up into a well looked after garden. Highly recommend.

We had a lovely couple of nights stay here. Our room was great, spacious, bed very comfortable with nice views out over the putting green. The food here is excellent too. Would certainly stay again.

I absolutely LOVED it here. Staff were so nice, service was excellent, treatments very relaxing, rooms lovely and comfortable. The surrounds are stunning, beautiful English countryside! Aqua thermal journey facilities were excellent, thanks for bringing Prosecco we could enjoy in the outside hot tub! The only tiny issue was being unable to change robes without being charged and no heated towel rail in the bathroom to dry them. Wouldn't stop me from going back though!

Outstanding! Visited Friday with a friend for a much needed day off. We had the spa package and what can I say! the place is amazing! The spa is stunning, immaculate and feels so private. The effort that has clearly gone into this place did not go unnoticed. The gardens and flowers are simply stunning and all the staff were amazing. Lunch was gorgeous and I cannot wait to come back. I came here with my sister to celebrate our birthday and we had a lovely time here. I rate this hotel 5 stars because everything was excellent. The hotel is lovely and clean, staffs were very professional and friendly and the Spa was amazing!

I was willing the weekend to be amazing but sadly was diasappointed. The scenery and surroundings are great. The staff in the main extremely helpful and pleasant but there was something lacking for me. The coach house room was very small and lacking ventilation, the over the bath shower was powerful and HOT but flooded the bathroom. The lovely products to use in the shower were a one wash measure and not replenished every day. I clearly look like I am at one with nature as I was repeatedly seated with foliage growing out my head and tucked away in a corner when it came to dining (in fairness I was given another table when asked). The deal we booked advised that the steak would be an Extra £5 however the over all price range on the menu was a difference of £3 max and the steak option was not the most expensive. I mentioned this to the receptionist but she appeared not to comprehend what I was pointing out. (If you are paying extra for an item you expect that item to be a higher cost) I am sure a different room a different deal my experience would have been slightly different but I still stand by my previous statemen and finish. It is trying really hard to be the country manor with the luxurious spa but it's just not there!

Great, relaxing massage and warm wrap followed by an excellent mid-day meal made for and excellent start to a very relaxing weekend. The facilities provided by the hotel include a salt room, b stream room, sauna and hot tubs. The staff are will trained and very helpful The rooms are will equipped and very comfortable. Would highly recommend the hotel for a short or long stay.

Beautiful manor house. Lovely room, comfy bed and a great shower. All the staff were very friendly. The spa was great and very reasonably priced. Lots of walks and things to do very close by.

Met up with my partner here, who was walking the Pennine Way, and took advantage of their Winter Break deal (as a rest day for him), which was excellent value for money. The hotel is lovely, food and spa great, but the staff really made it, as they were always friendly, helpful, and accommodating of our unusual requests for menu items and laundry. Definitely a place we hope to return to!

Had a one night stay with Dinner and breakfast included on a groupon deal. We saved £20 by booking through Groupon but don’t know if I’d book through them again just to save a few quid. We were put in the Coach House which was clean and a lovely big bed but not enough room to swing a cat, it also smelt damp and foisty like it hadn’t been aired or heated for weeks. We had to go outside of the actual hotel in the rain to get to our room and I genuinely think we were put there because it was a groupon deal. The food however was extremely nice, we ate in the Bistro and I can’t fault the staff or food at all. We paid extra to use The Spa which was fantastic and very relaxing. We paid £20pp to use the Spa facilities and £35pp on a massage each. The groupon included a discount voucher for a treatment but you had to spend over £36 on one item to receive this so we didn’t qualify, it didn’t seem to matter that we paid £110 on usage of the spa and 2 treatments so I think this is a bit of a rip off. Overall I had a lovely time in the Spa and Bistro but the rooms in the Coach House need updating and I don’t think Groupon bookings should be discriminated against.

Second time at Appleby manor, This time we did the 2 nights with fine dining first night and cream tea! The food was amazing, the service is amazing — always a smile and nothing too much bother! The spa is out of this world so relaxing and beautifully finished! Me and the best one will definitely be back! I definitely recommend the cream tea — best scone I’ve ever had!

Two of us stayed here. Lovely location and the views were brilliant. We particularly liked the conservatory style back room overlooking the views. However the room was rather cold and the door had a large space between the floor and the door so it could get noisy at times and had a lack of privacy. I think the bathroom could be majorly updated. Shower settings were extremely difficult to control and there were cobwebs all around the top of the strange open ceiling in the bathroom. Quite a few hairs in the bath when we first arrived also. We also had dinner here and staff were very friendly. Breakfast was delicious and despite being told ‘we’re a bit busy for lattes at the moment’ even though it wasn’t that busy, I eventually received my coffee. It definitely has potential to be fantastic but rooms just need a little TLC!

Me and my wife visited this place for our anaversiry. The staff at this place go above and beyond for You! We were there during the "the beast from the east" and the staff were great on giving us advice on what to do in terms of getting back. Spa facility's are outstanding! So are the staff in there. We would visit this place again and would highly recommend it to anyone!

I came here on an organised luncheon trip. We were given a very warm reception from the restaurant staff, they could not do enough for us. The hotel still has some of the atmosphere of a Victorian country manor house, with traditional lounges and log fires. We had our meal in a sunny conservatory built on to the front of the house. All three courses were beautifully presented, my roast turkey cooked to perfection. Drinks are expensive — £7 for a glass of wine — but only to be expected in a luxury 4 star hotel. Lovely view of Appleby and its castle, Eden Valley and Lake District fells, from the garden terrace. I would definitely come again!

Stayed for a couple of nights over the Christmas period with a couple of days in the garden spa too. This was our second visit and again it didn't disappoint. The staff were amazing again. Will definitely be booking another stay in 2018. Thank you.

We were staying in this lovely hotel twice and both times we had an incredible experience. Staff always friendly and looks after guests like good hosts. Make you feel very special. Rooms are nice and tidy. Facilities are great and we'd advice to visit Spa for full experience and ultimate relaxation.

Stayed overnight, had the fine dinning experience, given for a birthday present. Found all staff excellent, the meal was of a good standard. The room was clean comfortable, the stairs could be a problem to anyone with walking disability, but I managed with two hip replacements. The receptionist did offer to assist with baggage, so don't be put off with stairs, I am sure a member of staff would be on hand to help. The bar prices and wine, are what I would expect in a hotel of this standard, our G&Twas same price as in our local. The grounds were beautiful, the only very slight change I would offer to the management is to change the music in the restaurant, classical over Duran Duran anytime, but didn't detract from our stay.

Fantastic Hotel experience and access to the spa all day and the next morning cannot fault the service.

Excellent food and a lovely setting.

The hotel is beautiful, warm welcoming and the staff are very friendly. But it's overpriced, our room was out of date, and it has a feel of nursing home about it. (I'm guessing to keep out the riff raff) there is very little to to do once you are board of swimming and playing pool, don't get my wrong. It is a very nice place to be, I just felt it was a bit on the posh side, for old people with money to burn. There's nothing exciting happening in the local village, and eating is pricey in the hotel. No shops or attractions nearby, must drive for at least 30 mins to see any Won't be coming back. Can't say it's suitable for young people or kids. Very suited for the older generation that want to relax in a quiet place.

Absolutely wonderful three day stay at this beautiful hotel. We were treated like members of a very happy family. Not one member of staff passed us without a greeting or smile. We were upgraded to the best room in the hotel — The Heelis Suite — the most comfortable, luxurious room we have ever stayed in. Jacuzzi spa bath with built-in TV was gorgeous. This room also included our own private staircase to the swimming pool area. The two sofas at the end of the huge bed also made us feel very much at home. Food was 'to die for' and included local seasonal produce. Fine dining at its best. We will definitely be back here — probably with more family and friends. Anyone who wishes to be treated like royalty — don't look anywhere else. Great base for walks in and around the countryside.
